PPV for 2nd and 3rd Tier Players

Johnny my friend you are spot on IMO and I myself have wondered just exactly how the numbers match up in some people's heads. Every time I turn around someone is telling me that "So and so wants me to play a match...but they don't have any money" or "So and so wanted me to stake a guy for a ppv"
Some people say it is easy to do a PPV match. Guess we'll find out.

There is a LOT of great pool being played in the regional independent events. PPV for a small amount is funding much of this coverage. Are you saying it's not worth watching? I say you are missing out.
Example - 25th Annual Music City Open next week. Didn't Johnny Archer win that last year? This show will have 4 days of FREE coverage and 1 day of PPV to fund it. How is this a joke?

That is certainly not unreasonable depending on what you charge. But I just dont know how you keep on doing what you do to be honest. Its so hard to make money and provide for yourself like that. People are cheap and dropping 10-20 to watch pool just isn't something a lot of people will do unless its two monsters playing for decent money. Kinda sad.
Yes I agree. I am actually re-structuring some things this year. All events will be FREE to watch except the final day or finals. This will give people a chance to see what it is they are supporting.
My archive videos (almost 2000) remain FREE to watch and always have. Only recently I started archiving the final 4 matches in HD on my Justin.tv members only channel.
I have been fortunate to have some really great backers and fans that keep me going. I will admit that I have exhausted my entire saving from the truck business trying to get this thing going. It ain't a get rich quick deal that's for sure!
Hopefully the economy will turn soon and Pool will take off. Not holding my breath, but doing my part.

Keep up the good work Ray! This is a tough sport. There are hundreds of thousands of pool players and fans in the US but few players are willing to travel any distance at all and few fans are willing to pay even a nominal fee to watch great action.
The Action Pool Tour provides free streaming of each event (at a fairly significant cost) and encourages voluntary contributions. On a given weekend event, we get approximately 700-1,000 unique viewers. In 8 total events, we have received contributions from only 3 people. Although we do not yet offer top of the line streaming complete with commentary and multiple camera angles, 3 contributions outs of several thousand is amazing.
One day this sport will be organized, televised, and monetized!!!

I watch a few of the matches you stream and have considered contributing a donation but reluctant because my fear of getting hacked or my identity stolen. If the planets stay aligned I plan on attending/entering your next event in Catonsville and personally hand you a donation.
I assume you are referring to The Action Tour by Ozzy Reynolds?
I'm not sure how Ozzy collect contributions. If it is through Paypal, you are pretty safe. Same with Credit Card Processing. I accept both to watch portions of my show but do not solicit donations any longer.
All of us that take Credit Cards must be PCI Compliant, which ensures that your transaction and information is secure. Paypal IS a credit card processor too.

Yes, I was replying to Ozzy's quote and would like to thank you for the information you provided. However, I am still not comfortable taking the risk to do a transaction over the internet.
I would suggest a credit card that is used for only online purchases. As long as you look at your statements, you aren't gonna be on the hook for anything you didn't buy.

Well it's safer than going to the 7-11 with $5 in your pocket,:shocked2: , but I'm sure Ozzy wouldn't mind giving you his "snail mail" address for a contribution.
I know Ozzy just spent near $1,000 for his stream so his viewers would have a better picture. He runs a great event and I would suggest everyone ,close enough to play, to get over there and help keep a good thing going.
