New way to shape your tip...using your foot

Tiger just came out with a tip tool that works better and easier than any other one I've used.

You hold it down with your foot, put the tip in the shape you want (nickel or dime) and just roll the cue between your hands like a firestick.

It's made from anodized metal and it's the most fool proof tip shaper I've found. I was skeptical but I've been using it for a month and haven't had a miscue - makes a perfect shape every time. Darn this thing works good!

It's called Le Manifik. Crown City Corey has the first batch:

Huh! That's the same method I used with my Ultimate Tip Tool (until I got my cue lathe). I got a lot of strange looks, but hey, I worked for me.

Can't wait to show them I wasn't nuts :p

I've been spinning pool cues in my cube like that for 18 years. Lots of shapers work well like that. Willard's, long channeled ones etc.

$35 bucks for a shaper, it should come with a new layered tip to practice on:cool:

The sandpaper foam pad does a good job also on the left in the pic.
6 pads for 3 bucks:wink:
The two on the right are homemade out of 3/4" sch 40 PVC with some good sand paper stuck in there with carpet tape.

These guys didn't reinvent the wheel, but they make killer tip and shafts:bow-down:

This is the first thing I thought of. This is how I have used the ultimate tip tool as well.

This is stupidly crazy.
Points to make....

1...Is this shaper kinda like a toe-ring?
2...Is it on your foot constantly. or do you have to take it out, place in on the ground, flip your cue, aim your tip to the shaper, flip the cue back, poke someone in the eye, and bend over to pick up the shaper?

I prefer my tried and true method, which is to place a shaper on the tip, hold the butt between my two smelly feet, and wildly gyrate my legs to a snappy jazz tune while looking like a dog with fleas, thereby toning my calves....and it looks so much more suave than doing this with my hands.

Ditto on that! I'm sure the Tiger shaper works just as well on a pool table. You don't need much pressure when shaping a tip. I know people who go through a lot of expensive tips because they are constantly grinding the hell out of them.

I do this with my Willard's already. It doesn't have handy little pads for my foot to step-on but it takes no space in my bag. It cocks to an angle with my foot holding one edge down, but I just put my stick in at a matching angle and just start to light a fire... If one is good enough to make a bank shot half the time, then figuring out the stick angle is a no brainer. All is good and the tip is spot on.

But heck, I have no problem with seeing another and possibly more convenient tool come onto the market.

I agree, we have few guys in our club doing the same thing.

what do you use the sandpaper foam pad for - removing the remnants of the old tip from the top of the ferrule? I'm STILL finding that difficult.

I am sorry but i am affraid that new tool or any tip tools existing in the market can compete with the PUP cue shark tip tool i am using. Quit happy with that!

I also do the samething people aways think im trying to start a fire. And they know its good idea cause there nodding there head up and down looking on.

What I like about the Tiger tool is:

- the grit is about the same as 40 - 60 grit sandpaper yet the metal is permanent - nothing to replace. It's not a rasp so very little of the tip is removed and it doesn't weaken the tip.

- It's easy to use on the floor, since it's fairly large, sits flat and is easy to hold down with your foot.

- It's the closest thing yet to shaping a tip on a lathe - and you get a perfect shape every time - fast.

I know it's kind of expensive, but this is a quality machined piece - if you see one you'll see what I mean.

I've been using the sandpaper foam pad for several years. Like it better than the $35 Kamui tool I got stuck with.

seems like they took what kamui did and only made it slightly better

just a thought: a leather carrying pouch can double as a burnisher

Seems like there are two kinds of people out there in the world. 1: Those who have more money than common sense. And 2: Those who have more common sense than they have money. There are thought to be an elite few who have equal amounts of both.

Like many have already posted, I have used my Williard tip shaper on my key ring in this manner for nearly 20 years.

The industry could, in my opinion, take a gadget like this and set the price at $50 or $100 and they would have people lining up to buy them. I think I am going to sell a micro fiber shaft cleaner as a 4" X 4" square for $50 after all chalk is close to that now per cube.

I wonder at what price common sense kicks in for pool related items?

With that said, if people will buy it, more power to those that can make a profit from these pricey things.

You would have to put Kamui on your shaft cleaner to get $50 for it.

shape a house cue tip

i banged around in bars playing for 30 years, i used this method, find a kinda straight wall cue, find a small hole in the cement floor, drill it like you are trying to start a camp fire. shaped a zillion tips that way.
next new thing someone is going to INVENT, push button starters on car's.
