Not sure if this will turn out controversial but who gives a dam.

These cases are made by a case maker in China, he runs his on shop and despite having never stepped out of China here are the cases that he's made. His prices are steep, and his has orders till next year. (Btw do not PM me about prices or how to buy these cases, firstly they are all sold and secondly i am not a dealer. Express your interest in the thread itself and i'll get my friend to come on here to read the thread)

I'm helping him warm the scene the little as i think he'll be coming on AZ real soon, language being a barrier his wife will be helping him out.

China going crazy about pool? I think so.

Lots of pics here..enjoy.

That is a very beautiful case, but I wonder what John Barton is going to say about them. I will also bet that John knows where they are located and who they are.

No matter what anyone thinks that is a wonderful case that was obviously made a a skilled craftsman.

Thanks for sharing.

Well i'll leave John's comments for himself to post since originally it was his intention to post this thread but i decided i'd do it since i'm on holiday right now... and yes John does know this maker.

Yes I know the maker. He has done work for us and has blossomed into a very creative case maker. The leather work is amazing. I haven't yet seen one of his cases in person so I can't really comment on the interior construction. But this is an another good example of a talented leather worker coming from the world of leather craft INTO the world of cue case making.

This case maker is in my opinion one of the best in the world at this time when it comes to the workmanship and creativity he puts into each piece. As I said I can't comment on the interior yet but I am sure it's adequate for the task.

Nice carving designs.

It's nice to see all that saddle stitching, but the holes punched for the stitches are entirely too large. This makes for an easier time doing a double needle stitch of course, but it isn't the ideal. Saddle stitching does not require holes to be punched, it can be done with an awl, but if stitch holes are punched they should be the smallest needed for the stitches. The stitches should be tight in the holes. In addition, there is no groove laid for the stitch line so the stitches are proud of the surface of the leather which leaves them exposed to abrasion and snagging. This is simply less reliable and less durable.

The engineering of the cases is very cool I think. Several are very unique. Quite remarkable.

I'll be sure to convey your message to the case maker and hopefully that'll be good info for him to improve his work upon.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, i've been talking to the case maker and 'cos his real busy and backlogged at the moment he'd be looking forward to joining the AZ community soon and hopefully be able to reply to some of the queries i have received.

I think it would be great to hear from the maker.

It looks like fresh ideas and outside the box thinking are the main features of what we are seeing, in addition to solid craftsmanship and artistry of course.

Great stuff.

Great carving. The talent of all the case makers and leather carvers cannot be denied.

I want a carved leather case. Tough to say what I want until I see it. A case with a balance of carved leather that is not too busy with symbols that are sized in proportion to one another and the case as a whole.

Everyone has their own taste and style. I wish I had a better ability to design or draw. Then I could design my own custom case and hire one of these great carvers to build me my case.
