1st 2 days of the tour. Hectic :)

I'm loving this. Sorta combination of "Playing off the rail" and Jack Keroack "on the road":thumbup:

With a little Hunter S Thompson thrown it:D

I always enjoy the live stories of the tour. Sounds like JA has you in his sights this time around. Lots of ways to get him tho and you do have a bit of time until the tour is over to pull one over on him real good.

Keep them rolling.

PS - Being an old truck driver, I can sympathize, snow plus curvy mountain highways equal some white knuckles on the steering wheel.

Hey Hog, I hope to keep on with this thread and things around here can only get better. I will get JA in the very near future and I will make sure that you hear it first :)

Thanks for listening to my insane drivell, I just want to try and share this experience. Not really sure if anyone cares and my accounts of the days are not always very funny or exciting but hey, all of a sudden something good happens. Its 11.42 here right now and have to be up at 6.45am. Can't wait to tell you how easy it was to get JA out of bed at that time. :) night all

Great stories Mark. Keep em' coming.

I hope your mesothelioma isn't so bad that we can't get a frame or two of snooker in. :p I'll take my usual spot.

So...Mark...Give us the skinny on the clinic and exhibition yesterday! It's already 10:30am Bozeman Time on Easter Sunday! BTW, I know that woman that "spoke" with you...she's a strange one alright! LOL I used to travel that road from W. Yellowstone over Island Park all the time, winter and summer.
The road is almost always snowpacked from Oct. until April (sometimes June). Have fun in Helena...easy drive!

Well, I got a great one for ya toward the end. But I will begin where I left off. Not much reallt to say about the first night in Bozeman. I met with Steve the L.O for the BCA in Bozeman and he is a great guy, he helped with getting the word out forthe clinic and exhibition and also made the list for the people attending the clinic. We nt for a drink at the Montana Ale Works (Scott probably knows of it) its like a fancy brew pub with a restaurant and a few pool tables. We just chatted a while and I headed back to the hotel since we had an early start the next day.
The clinic was set to begin at 9am and so we had to be up at 6.45am so we had time to get breakfast before we left. The clinic went very well and the whole time the clinic was going on the Eagles Lodge took part in a Bozeman tradition called "The Mini Masters" Each bar in the town of Bozeman makes a mini golf hole in their bar and people enterthe tourney. I guess you have to get a drink at each place and play the hole, then you and your score gets signed off and you move on. Well people really get into this event and wear all kinds of goofy golf clothes, Looks like alot of fun and just another experience that I am glad I witnessed in my travels.

We go right out of the clinic into the exhibition and the turn out was not as expected but looking at the fact that we changed the schedule, the date and time at close to the last min we still had around 40 peopel in attendance. Everyone had fun and we met Cat and Chris who have a pool schiil they run and they asked if they could take us out for dinner that night. They went a little overboard I think but Man alive the food was amazing. we all hade seared scallops and crab cakes to start and then beef tenderloin with gorgonzola mashed taters. AMAZING! Well Nick does not drink but now and then he is a little partial to a nice of red wine and he had a couple of glasses and that gets him a little tipsy and a tipsy Nick is about the funniest thing I have ever seen. Anyway, the night was over and we got back to the hotel. A great day was had by all.

So we were up bright and early this morning again 6.45am AGAIN for the hour anda half drive to Helena and then Breakfast before the clinic at 11am. We met George who always helps us on the ground there in Helena and Josh who hasthe kindness along with his family to put us up at his house and treats us like family.

Well its easter sunday and we knew going into it that we would not have a full clinic but ended up with 5 and we only allow 12 so I was fine with that. We met some people we knew from the last time that Nick and I were in Helena. The clinic flew by and the Eagles lodge had a annual Easter dinner for anyone who came in. Mashed taters, Ham, sweet taters, etc. So we had a helping of that and watched some of the Masters on the Tv and just hung out a while. Well Nick decided he was going to head back to Josh's house with him and Johnny and I was going to follow along a little later. So we took off and have the address in the GPS, I have been their before and get along great with his wife. So we get to the street and it seems alot of the houses look the same on his street and the GPS says arriving at your destination. So we pull up and decide we are not going to unload our suitcases right away but just go and watch the end of the Masters first. So we pull up and walk towards the front door. I see the door is open and the screen door is closed. so trying to be funny and cute I open up the door as I know Nick and Josh are already there and walk in and yell "Mom I'm Home" There ia a woman I havn't met before stood in the living room with a small child. I say hi and realize that the living room looks different from what I remember and as I look around in slow motion. I realize that nothing looks as I remember it. I look back at the lady and ask "Am I in the wrong house?" The confused lady mumbles a little and then says "Maybe" I ask if Josh is here She says "No" I ask again if I am in the wrong house and this time she says "yes". OMG I am sooo embarressed. I can't get out of the house fast enough appologising all the way. Johnny is now at the door as I am hurrying out and say "Shit this is the wrong house" "What " he says "Are you serious?" I say "yup" and we hurry toward the car to get the hell out of there and as we do I see that the next house is where we are supposed to be.
Well we just ate some Elk, enchiladas and its 7.55pm and I think I am ready for bed already. Show tomorrow at the Eagles Lodge at 7.30 we will be doing another show.

I am sure I will have more to tell tomorrow,

Wow, went to bed at 9pm last night. Just felt really tired and figured that getting the rest when possible was the right choice. I must have been right because I slept til 8am. Thats a good sleep right there. However now I am up and everyone else is going to sleep in I am gonna guess.
Well we don't have any plans for today until the show tonight at 7.30pm. So I am not really sure what the day has in store. We should maybe really take advantage of this down time to relax more as we have to be up early in the morning for Spokane. I imagine, I will be back before the end of the day to make my report.

Mark...When the Ale Works opened we thought it was going to be a cool pool room. Sadly, the tables are crap, and not maintained in any way. In 30 years there have only been 3 pool rooms in Bozeman (a ton of pool bars though)...none lasted more than a few years. The best tables in town have always been at the MSU Gameroom. Sorry about the short turnout for the exhibition. Bozeman has at least 1000 people who love to play pool. Nick and Johnny deserve better!
Hope things go better today in Helena.

I Know why the show hada low attendance andI understand what happened. I will work to try and not let that happen again but that situation was out of our hands.

Well we went to Brunch today and then headed over to the Eagles Lodge so that Nick could get his shots ready and check the table out, etc. Just got back to our home for the next day and having some more Elk Enchiladas :)

All day yesterday I was telling Johnny that whenever I eat at someones house in Montana its never just regular steak, its, deer, Elk, Moose, Buffalo, etc Always something exotic and you never know what you are gonna get. (True fact by the way) SO I had it set up that when I asked what we were planning on having for dinner that Josh (the owner of the house) would say Polar Bear, just to see Johnny's face. Well he followed through and told JA we were having Polar Bear for dinner. He had his family send it down to him from Alaska. JA asked if he was serious and he told him he was. He kinda looked up and down a little and said 'Well I've never eaten Bear before let alone Polar Bear and to be honest I'm not too sure about that" Atthis point Josh goes and telles him the truth. Man i wanted JA to eat it and go offtelling people that he ate polar bear last night. Well I tried.

Well seems that people are reading this but not responding too much so I will keep writing as things happen.

Oh, I'm reading this alright! Thanks.

This pretty much sounds like a blast.

I wish we had enough participation in this area to have y'all come thru Arkansas for a day or 2.

What's the tour schedule?

Mark, maybe you could PM me the in's and out's of what you guys need to schedule something for a location.

keep it coming!

I'm reading it as well. And I'm wishing I could have made arrangements to connect with you guys somewhere along the line.
I know that drive through West Yellowstone and have been through there twice during similar conditions. I'm glad your drive turned out well.
You have at least one more mountain pass ahead. Let us know how that one goes.
And next time, plan a stop in Missoula! It's 7-8 hours from me, but I would make the drive.
Safe travels,
Karl

I'm reading it too, daily. On the road with Hunter S. Thompson and Jack Kerouac:thumbup::thumbup:

Yeah, me too. It's great to hear the tour is going well. Sounds like you guys are having fun. I found myself wondering if the car got stuck in the snow, like the Donner party, who would be the one to get eaten. As for me, I'm picking the guy who's not in the Hall of Fame:smile: Also, who knew they made Bud Light with 1/2 the alcohol-that's funny. Hope you guys have a great time on the tour.
