My first attempt at a butterfly

Started this months ago. Just to see if I could do it. Planned on it being a handle, but the butterflys were to long. Turned it down some more to see how it would look as a forearm. Never could figure out what would look good with it. Till someone asked for a curly maple jump cue like no one else has.

Thanks for looking

That is killer Larry! I'm glad it turned out so well. It would have been an amazing handle, but I have to say that is probably the nicest jump cue I've seen!

If it wasn't already sold, I would bug you to let me buy it!

thats pretty cool, glad to see you finally did something with that experiment

Larry that is a beautiful Jump cue, and I personally think you are well on you way perfecting the butterfly splice. I have also tried to build some, however, mine did not turn out as well as your's. The points look almost even and the veneer's look pretty tight. To date my biggest problem has been getting my points perfectly even, but I think I almost have a handle on it.

Thanks for sharing, and again nice looking cue.

The good thing about starting with a handle and turning it down to a forearm is. You have plenty of chances to even up the points.

Thanks for the comments!

You nailed it.

I dig those cues.

I do like butterflies and I really think you pulled it off beautifully.

Of course the figure of that wood is killer as well. It all came together perfectly IMHO.

I am sure it was no small task keeping your centers and getting the splices even. Very well done.

Thanks for showing these off.

Interesting ring works. The cue works ... it's very different looking cue from the norm but nice looking. I like the style a lot. And I know your cues hit pretty well.

Make me one .. with quick release screw on extension.

PM sent!

Thanks for the nice comments. Knew it would look bizarre, but the customer wanted to keep the bulls eye look of the jump cue. He will be getting it later today. He has no idea what it looks like. He wanted a suprize!
