USA, all the way?

Ah, the one you showed up in three years late, to steal the spoils.

Your irony isn't cute enough to rewrite history, but that's neither here nor there.

Fact is, pool as legitimate sport in America is still very much in its infancy, having previously been either a social drinking game or vehicle for degenerate gambling.

Quite why everyone on here drags debates into 'my dad's bigger than your dad' territory is beyond me, but if you want to see how I cue, just Youtube some of the snooker world championships. That's how we ALL cue.

You know YouTube, that thing on the internet (which, incidentally, was created here in the UK).

I didn't start the debate, you did by saying Americans cant cue straight. So if anyone disagrees with you and asks you to show them how, you spin it to sound like it's our fault. Interesting, being that you told JAM not to spin things earlier in this very thread.

So long story short, you cant play. Your just talk. Problem solved.

The troll again

I know this will come as a big disappointment to you guys, but no Brit has ANY interest in how your nation was founded, nor any knowledge of it. We simply don't care what happened 3000 miles away, hundreds of years ago. I had no idea we'd even had a bit of a biff up until I ventured into NPR. Seems you are immensely proud over something we have no interest in.

Except you it seems. You troll this site and spew your anti-american sentiment and now when that wasn't good enough it seems you are starting anti-american threads. You like to try to disguise your spew as pool related , but your comments all end up going in the same direction don't they. You don't see the 95% American presence on these forums trolling and bad mouthing everything British. And lets be real, you HATE EVERYTHING American. So why waste your time and post here with all those people whose country and opinions you despise so much. Whats the point If you don't have ANY interest in us....
Sad little troll...

Oh man, just when I thought British snobbery had boundaries!

Tim, if you're going to be sarcastic, at least get your facts straight. Before I bury you with a steamshovel full of facts, I'll give you the opportunity to go off and do some research before you spout off with "incidentally, was created in the UK" crap again.

Wanna try again? Look up the terms "Internet" and "YouTube" on, say, Wikipedia.org -- or whatever your favorite online encyclopedia is.

Don't worry -- that loss of color in your face, as you read those, is just you realizing how your foot tastes.

-Sean <-- chuckling

Yeah I started to point the facts out to him, then I decided to just delete it, it wont do any good.

Maybe once he is willing to accept he has a problem he can begin to solve it! (you have to read the last two pages to know where thats coming from!)

Granted TV coverage here sucks arse, torney's I would rate decent but only on the east coast it seems. Have you ever seen Josh Brothers play? Melling would have trouble.

I thought a little while back we demonstrated to you that the European pool players who play in US tournaments (i.e. not snooker), and even the Phillipine pool players, or Japense, or Chna players, do NOT have snooker stances.

Are you really this stupid?

I dunno. I think the guy's got a point. (goodbye rep lol)

His post may be less about trolling and more about reacting to some over-the-top rah rah USA posts that occasionally pop up on this forum. The USA's a fine country and so are many others. I wouldn't go out of my way to bash any of them, but most internet patriotism is misplaced and the USA-is-the-greatest-in-everything posts can get tiring.

There have been multiple threads on this forum as the whys and hows of improving US pool. So I don't know where you get that from. I would also like to know why you think we dont cue straight. Why don't you post a video of your superior skill for all of us to witness? Show us how you do it, talk is cheap, especially yours.

As far as the british football is concerned, take it to the NPR.

And for this statement---Treat all existing instruction manuals as historical artifacts, and start again from scratch. Learn how other nations do it.
It makes me wonder what it is that you are doing that is superior to what I am doing. So, please, post a video of your handy work so we can see whats its like to have your skill. If you have a better way for me to play by all means show me, I have no problems with learning a better way to do things.
The thing is, I don't think you have a better way. I think you like to talk like you know something and act pompous towards others on here, but I bet the truth is your game is as weak as your outlook on life.

Yet the USA has an advanced population, roughly 3 times the size of the PI. "IF" there were a Mosconi Cup type tourney, US vs the PI, US vs China, US vs Tawain.

I'd bet on the "Asian persuasion" every time against the Americans. And I'd win big money.

I think you're conflating two separate issues there, old chap.

I'm sure the majority of European, Filipino, Japanese and Chinese players cue straight, however they stand.

As you won't accept the proposition - nobody likes their medicine, after all - perhaps you could reverse the scenario and tell me to COPY American cueing. Is THAT a good idea?

Will people who cue like John Barton save pool from its terminal decline?

It's not just tiring - it's positively weird at times, especially the synchronised USA!, USA!! mantras at political rallies etc.

Patriotism is fine but there needs to be some substance to it, and I don't see that in the world of pool. Dominate the game again and you can do what you want. Until you do, you're better advised learning from other nations, rather than bashing them.

I believe it was your own Tony Blair who said you can tell all you need to know about a nation by observing who wants in and who wants out. No one wants in your shitty little island. The end.

As usual you're way off point.

I agree that PI's have great players, in fact I think every country has great players. I've never said anything to the contrary. I've never said America is better. I only disagreed with Thaig when he said Americans cant cue straight.

But typical for you and Thaig to try to spin it to suit you.

Let me ask you this, you seem to have pride in your country. You even said in this post that you think they would beat the USA. Did I come back at you and say that you think your country is better than every one elses?

Sure, there is alot of Americans that take pride in their country, they believe they are the best, no different than you.(as stated in your own words) So why all the hate?

Will people who cue like John Barton save pool from its terminal decline?

So this is your logic?

I'm guessing that you think if we all had the same stance and stroke as you, it would save pool?

Have you had you coffee yet? Er, tea??
