How to know when your addicted to pool

Ok, recently I have been having a little health issue. It's been going on for 3 months or so but has been getting progressively worse over time. I get these real bad headaches with a lot of pressure around my eyes, eventually my nose starts to bleed and the headaches goes away for awhile.

It started out as a minor annoyance then got worse. I went to my doc, blood pressure was okay, he sent me to the eye doc. She said my eyes are great but referred me to a neurologist. (I see him next week)

Meanwhile I go back to my regular doctor for a follow up, he asked me again how long this had been going on. I told him at least three months. He asked "what prompted you to come in and see me?"
I answered, "It started to affect my pool game!" :D

I took a second after answering that to contemplate what i had just said! Lol, getting perspective is a mo'fo!

If your nose ever bleeds onto the pool table, they're gonna hafta hold up play and get a bio-hazard cleanup crew in there before you can resume :D.

Seriously though, I hope you're okay and your tests reveal nothing serious.

I'm sure it's nothing. It just cracked me up when i realized what I had said.
 
I know I am addicted

because I have been playing it for 50 years, and I still look forward to playing on the weekends (weekly tournaments), and I still love to match up for a money match. Plus I still think about Pool most of the time.

Plus, I turn 65 next year, and I plan to have a cue made after I start getting my Learjet pension, so yes, I would say I am addicted to Pool. Something about it just gets in your blood, and never goes away .... lol :thumbup:

When you drop out of school and pool is all you can think about. My wife when we first met told me, when I sleep I make a bridge with my hand. In fact, when I just sit relaxed I can catch my hand forming a bridge from the many thousands of hours of doing so. If pool is even slightly referenced in a TV show or movie, you watch.

This reminds me of a few years ago. I played this marathon set for over 14 hours. When i finally got to bed I was completely wiped out. Have you ever felt like you were falling in a dream and you shook yourself awake?
Well, I was breaking in my sleep and my right arm lunged forward waking me up in mid break!
 
The most important sign to look for when you're trying to assess a pool addiction is....

Has the alleged addict opened an account on AZBilliards?

What color of flowers do you on your head stone, I carry 2 colors 9 ball yellow and 8 ball black <my personal favorite.


Year in a half ago I went into a coma for 6 weeks.
talk about getting my butt kicked.

when i woke up out of a coma the first question asked my wife was were are my pool cues.

I have one ex wife that told me if i dont give up pool she was going to devorce me.

Addicted O no im not addited.

I hope you find out about your illness.

when you have been playing for 50 years and it is still constantly on your mind. Oh yeah, you are currently satisfying one of the items on your bucket list buy spending the bucks to build a home room.

Is it possible you're having an allergic reaction to cigarette smoke? When I play league in a smoky bar (99% of them unfortunately), I don't sleep well, have mild congestion and headaches, and must take allergy meds the next day.

Our team is moving to a non smoking bar next session but we'll still play half of our matches in smoky environments. (And before I get flamed, I know it's my choice. I don't have to play pool). :frown:
 
How about when you think you lost your cue and you go running around the pool room like a maniac, checking under every table, only to eventually realize it's been hanging on your shoulder the whole time, which explains why nobody in the pool room was helping you look, and everyone was laughing and pointing.

Yep. Happened to me.
