What are some good responses for the guy that sits at the table and tries to tell you what you do wrong after every shot... It gets old and I'm looking for some spiteful responses

My favorite from the 'Miz' "I have never missed a ball from the sidelines"

Why not just ignore him? Although, he might have some good pointers for you...sift through it. Honestly, if you're gonna let this bother you, you're prime fish for a shark.

You're very right. People get in my head pretty easily. Its just frustrating to have a mediocre (at best) player commenting if I dont run out when I should. Im already frustrated by that point, its like some people lack social awareness

Suggestions:

"I do whatever the little voices tell me to do"

"Amazingly enough, I don't give a krap."

"For a good time..call someone else"

"I'm sorry. My Fault. I forgot you were a nit."

"It's true! Your head is as big as your gut!"

Nothing worse

When you are playing bad or not feeling the best about your game than unsolicited advice .It's better to let it go but I have gotten ticked about it and said things like "Are you a certified instructor ?,When was the last Open event you placed in ? " But better to let it go .Funny thing is I have never seen a woman do this ??? It's almost like some men always have a better way to fix a car ,paint a house, play pool , and they have to tell you .Mostly they are trying to be helpful but as someone mentioned it's kinda rude and lacks people skills.

there is always the classic,
"You are confused, you have me confused with someone who gives a shit."

I always say there is more than one way to read a road map.

I had a guy tell me such a thing last year. Just once. He then pretended to explain it to me in great detail. The truth is he was wrong anyway.

What did I do? I just smiled and said thanks.

If somebody does it incessantly, which somebody that I know actually does, I just ignore it.

I play with people that just can not shut up. Advice, why did you do that, He's out, games over, don't be so serious, you're gonna miss. I asked them to kindly be quiet when I'm shooting and that bothers them also. I asked them would it bother anyone if I critiqued your Golf, Card game or Bowling while you were up to bat and immediately afterward.

General rules of courtesy: Respect other players

Pool is a competition, but it is also a social activity. The other players want the same opportunity you do to plan and execute shots without rude interruptions.

Don't shark. If what you are doing would distract you while shooting, it probably distracts other players, too. Here are some common sharks. Avoid them!

Doing anything vocal while your opponent shoots (talking, coughing, clearing your throat, humming, whistling, etc.)
Making noise while your opponent shoots (dropping stuff, chewing loudly, cracking gum, tinkling ice cubes, tapping fingers, etc.)
Moving deliberately within the shooter's field of view (lighting a cigarette, chalking your cue, walking near the table, making sweeping hand or arm movements, etc.)
Standing at the table, especially behind the target pocket.

Don't coach other players unless they ask for advice. Unsolicited coaching is also a shark.

Don't turn lights on or off while someone is shooting.

Don't criticize someone's game and don't make excuses for your own misses.

Don't hustle.

"I pay people to give me their opinion, am I paying you?"

This isn't an opponent... I'm getting sharked by a frequent spectator of my game!

Explain common pool room manners to the spectator. Explain that you did not make the Rules your are simple passing them on. Me personally? I stick my X wife on anyone that annoys me.:D

As you said before, they are probably just trying to be helpful and don't realize that they are annoying you. I would simply politely say that while you appreciate the help, you would just be able to play and focus on the match without advice during your game.

Grab a house cue and swing it like Barry Bonds on the juice and catch him in the throat with the butt. Then, when he is laying there gasping and choking, say "Was that a good stroke?" Then push his body out of the way and continue playing. Well, it works for me, but your results may vary. Lol.

I don't get that happening to me. If I did I would ask them if they want to play me. He, he, he. End of story.
Many Regards,
Lock n Load.
