Question for Justin... TAR One Pocket Challenge

Justin,

I know that some of your ppv customers won't pay for One Pocket, but is there any chance you guys can put together some elite One Pocket Challenges?

Maybe do a King of the Hill type deal with a list of contenders that play their way up to see who Challenges Efren.

I would love to see Corey, Shane, Gabe, Scott, Alex, Chris G, Shannon, Jeremy, etc battle it out in big money matches. The truth is there is no game the pros can play that is a truer test of all around skills.

There are several of us that really love One Pocket and outside of the Tournament matches there really isn't much out there to watch. I think if you promoted it right and got the top 20 or so guys to play, you could make money. I know there are many of us are tired of watching Shane play 10 ball.

May be wishful thinking but I would love to hear your thoughts

1P guys usually older with more disposable income also

My guess is that it won't happen, doubt they would cover their expenses.

I'd buy it or sure....maybe one day.

Id definitely buy onepocket match. Something different, and alot more for the viewers to discuss as far as shot options etc.
The 10 ball , I bought em all till the last 2. its old

I think there is a bigger market for One Pocket than people may realize, and YES rotation games are boring as they can be. the same shots over and over and over again. blah!

As a general rule I don't watch pool at a computer. However, I also know that intriguing 1pocket matches do get my interest and I do recall signing up for the Gabe Owens -- Tony Cohan match simply because I thought it would be an interesting contrast in styles.

So personally I do believe there is a market out there for "intriguing" 1pocket match ups.

One pocket has a real diehard crowd of people and they will spend the money and watch it, if the names are good then people will check it out. I know many guys who wont buy a 10 ball TAR match but would buy one pocket because 10 ball frankly is boring to watch, one pocket has so much more going on, the commentator has something to speak about with that game. I am sure many people will talk about how boring one pocket is and 10 ball is so much better, different strokes for different folks kind of deal.

all around or one hole

I would love to see a good long one pocket match or an all around format like Danny and John played at least.

i agree, I have bought every ppv until the last couple ten ball ones cause I am just burnt out watching the same guys run out and make it look to easy. One pocket is a real battle almost like a chess match that is more interesting for me because of all the different shot options. When playing 10 ball there is only a few shot options compared to the things people like corey come up with playing one hole. Hope they get something going with one pocket but who knows!

I like the all around formats, they really show who the best all around player is and to me that means more than who the best 10 ball player is. Maybe shorter races, 3 out of 5, one pocket, banks, 10 ball, straight pool and 8 ball, that would be awesome.

Just 3

I like that idea but I don't think if someone won say banks and straight pool only because the other guy never played the games it would be a true test. I like 10 ball, one pocket specifically and then banks or straight pool what ever the specific players would have the best match at. I love 8 ball but I do not think anyone wants to watch it.

I agree Lenny the all around was fun to watch. I think if we limited these to the top 20 or so players people would pay to watch it. I would

Let them do a cycle.

game of one pocket
5 games 8 ball
game of one pocket
5 games 9 ball
game of one pocket
5 games 10 ball
game of one pocket

that would make a cycle or one set.
all breaks from a 2x4 box.
get 3.5 points for a game of one pocket.
get 1 point for the other per game.
winner of the previous game breaks the next.

This is where i stand,i dont buy anymore 10ball matches(gets very old watching the same thing over and over, where 1pocket ,during each n every game is different, banks, safties, cue ball control, thought out plans, ect)myself i would buy allmost any 1pocket match up,doesnt have to be the best players n the world,I THINK WITH 1POCKET YOU WILL HAVE MUCH MORE PLAYERS TO MATCH UP ,THEN U HAVE PLAYING 10 OR 9BALL,I BELEIVE THERE IS MUCH MORE 1POCKET MATCH UP OUT THERE ,THEN ROTATION,SO MAYBE TAR CAN MAKE SOMETHING WORK WITH 1POCKET!

I would also buy 1p, even if its the middle of the night here in Europe when they play

Its also a must to have a knowledgeable commentator like Billy I. Even if the players are not ultimate world class, he is able to make it both interesting and educational

A great one pocket match with a shot clock would get me to purchase! Otherwise, it may be way too boring!

TAR one pocket idea

One way to make one pocket more interesting for TAR would be to have the players play Run Out One Pocket.

Each player gets 10 breaks and tries to make as many balls in one pocket as they can each inning.

Par for the better players would be 100. That is a ten ball average for each inning. Very difficult but doable for the best players.

Each player would have alternate breaks so you would get to see both players play.

Not true one pocket but one foul is not true 9 ball.
