The language is called Filipino. It is actually based on Tagalog, one of the dialects spoken in the country. When someone says tagalog, they refer to Filipino so to speak. It's like how standard french is based on lang d'oil dialect spoken around Paris.

Efren is a really simple man. Very humble. I'd never expect him to live a flashy lifestyle.

While true, that is a simple conclusion.
Sure Efren has to share winnings, but the potential to win more is also a reality.
What you are saying is like saying you wouldn't want to win the lottery coz of the taxes on the winnings.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought because the cost of life in the PI is low ( I think), Efren is considered rich there.
with Efren's stature he could easily have a mansion but he prefers to keep it simple, plus he has a lot of extended families and friends whom he helps.
