Billiards in the Olympics instead of

wouldn't Pool be considered a Winter sport?

golf in summer pool in winter...at least thats how it is up here in the frost belt

... yet there's no baseball, ...
Baseball was in but is now out. Few countries play it. Here's the story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_at_the_Summer_Olympics

In general, to get into the summer games a sport needs to be played in most countries, have a recognized world championship, allow female participation, and the big kicker: satisfy the anti-doping requirements. Baseball doesn't have a world championship and I suspect that the MLB players' union would never agree to WADA requirements.

Winter sports tend to have something to do with actual cold. Skating on ice, curling on ice, skiing on snow, luge down an ice track, ect...

The NBA is played over the winter months, basketball is not a "winter" sport.

im thinking they would put snooker in the Olympics before pool? ...
Very unlikely. If cue sports were to get into the Summer Olympic Games, the format would probably be similar to cue sports in the World Games. That includes mens' snooker (singles and pairs?), mens' 3-cushion, and mens' and womens' nine ball. Snooker by itself is not widely played in most countries and wide-spread participation is a major factor in IOC selection.

that format looks pretty good, you don't think 8 ball should be included?

I think Bob was just explaining what the format of the World Games is, not expressing an opinion. But I like the idea of 8 Ball instead of 9 Ball. Though while 8 Ball is certainly the most widely known game in the USA, I don't know if that's true worldwide.

Anyone who ridicules badminton has obviously never played a serious game of it. You can have your ass ran into the ground on that tiny court lickety split by a skilled opponent. If something should go it's those sway back glue bag nags. Might as well just add Nascar if you're gonna have that shit.

Badminton should never be taken out of the Olympics. Anyone who says so has never played it competitively or even watched it on TV. Never mind there are probably more badminton players than pool players. The sport draws more ratings on TV.

If someone would have told me that skateboarding would become an Olympic sport before billiards/pool, I would have said they were crazy!!! I think they included skateboarding as a way of attracting a younger audience, and their attempt to stay relevant. IMO they're just pandering to youths with this one. Boo on the IOC, Boo!!!

I dunno, if we accept snow boarding in the olympics, skateboarding is that much of a stretch. It just seems a bit more so because we associate skateboarding with unkempt kids failing at kick flips for hours on end. But that’s like associating pool with drunk people bars banging the balls around.

Soccer, watersports and many others.
Usually only below certain age and amateurs take part -soccer is one of many Olympic sports where the standard is miles apart from pro level
Plus the nonsense that team sport only get 1 medal while for individual sportsperson in swimming, diving can get tonnes of medals

Only sports that should stay is track and field. All other sports should be thrown out together with the fat corrupt powerful cats running the Olympics. In this day and age sports should be liberalised - organised cartels like organised crime, organised sports, organised religion (think rich powerful Vatican, Popemobiles, slimy conmen preachers) isn't healthy for the world
:ROFLMAO::LOL:

I'm all for it, the only problem I foresee is they most likely wouldn't allow the players to drink or smoke. kidn'

I agree with Badmitton and Table Tennis...Personally, I think golf should be added before Billiards is added...I would love to see both added though!
Have you seen table tennis played at a high level? That shit is no joke as to how hard it is to do. Plus it has a great national history in several countries.
