Sexy 2013 Calendar Coming Soon

Haha, nice try, but you are too big a fan of the sport, art, and of sexy women to get it for free! I am trying to convert this man to accept all forms of art, you have the luxury of already being open-minded. You pay full price!

Can't blame a man for trying!

I'm sure Island Drive is a hell of a nice person and I do hope that you can convince him that it is in no way demeaning women or hurting the game. If you're not successful, that's okay too. He's certainly entitled to his opinion. This is just a very difficult place to voice an opinion against beautiful women posing for pictures/art.

I'll keep a look out for the calendar in late October!

Island Drive,

I didn't say how much it was, because I have not yet finished pre-production and shooting. My goal is to keep it as low as possible. $20-$25 most likely.

I understand that you think it hurts the game, but I don't see how. If you ask me, it makes me wanna get on the table and play. The photos promote the sport, not demote. I am making an association between class and billiards. To try and convince you otherwise, I will send you the finished 12 model spreads (which are not including the ones shown) for FREE in a high resolution format for you to use as wallpaper or to print yourself. Sound good? I think you would appreciate it that way. Shoot me your email and you'll get them when all post-production is complete.

What I really am saying is, what Good does it do our the game? I appreciate your offer but others here could find better use of it than I. The lens I look at our game from is a completely different perspective, having played in two WPA World events and having won a pro event in 89 I view matters differently, as I don't look or treat pool as a game, its a sport, and with History, and I have great respect for it. I wish you luck on your venture, and will gladly accept your offer when your talents are not not directed towards your current media. Take a look at the many different action posters that have been created over the yrs, there's some good fodder and ideas out there. What would be different and catching for a project would be this, and no one has done this, or probably ever thought of this. Every mth in the US, there's probably a great event being held somewhere in some state, for Example the U.S. Open and DCC or JOB's in TN. For the mth its being held, make a pic relating to this for that mth as you turn the page ea thirty days. Something like this would be looked forward too ea yr, and even the room owners might help out, as this could help their venue.

How is creating a calendar with action shots of pool going to help pool....if no one buys it?

Creating a product is all well and good. Creating a product, then producing that product, then having that product sit on the shelf, unsold....loss, all around.

IslandDrive wishes for such a calendar to exist. He might also wish for a market to exist that would buy it and make it worth producing.

I'm not saying he is wrong to feel the way he does. That's all well and good. But to expect the OP to create something that will not sell is....not reasonable.

There are three different tables featured in the calendar's entirety.

Really? wow you say there's tables in those pics ok I'll take your word on it

I see some words blah blah blah oh I can just make out "fast and loose coming soon" then blah blah blah

I see a girl a with obvious back problems needing a back brace with her back arching like that. I still can't make out anyting else in the first picture.

Now the second picture I do see the girl has a nice rack in her hands. At least that one is somewhat pool related.

I just can't fathom a poolhalls of all places hanging material like that on its wall. Golly Gee Beave do really you think that kinda thing would sell?
Now I would expect that kind of thing hanging in Congress but how many congressmen actually play pool?

Appreciate your comments thx, just found this on the front page of msn.com
as this is the current thinking in our society, and this in turn created this tv spot. It just shows me how our society has deterioriated and this is a perfect example of the outcome of the constant barrage of SEX and how it effects ones thinking. Its so easy to go after the male libido'.

Heres what was said. I know some of us 'get it'....

[

"Bodies In Motion" was an online video produced by NBC in which women competing in various Olympic sports were featured in softcore, fetishist slow-motion highlights, while porn-tastic jazz music played on the soundtrack.
It looked like something a testosterone-filled teenager with a DVR would have spliced together for YouTube; instead, it was the official rights holder of the Olympics in the U.S. that produced it''

Maybe instead of complaining here, maybe you should write your Congressman. I'm sure you'll get lots of help with sociteies problems from them!!!

Island Drive, the solution is very simple here, and was already pointed out. If you don't like the subject matter of this thread, then quit looking in this thread and don't buy the product; that is your choice and right. What is not within your rights is to prevent other people from enjoying art, beauty, sexuality, or whatever they perceive it to be.

Though, on that matter of sexuality, there is nothing actually sexual about these images from my point of view. Perhaps you are sexualizing them and it disturbs you, but when I see them I just simply see a pretty women, posed in a way that is complimented by how light is cast upon her; that's just standard good photography.

You're worried about society having deteriorited over overt sexuality, but I'm worried about societies deterioration from those who try to assert their beliefs over others in the name of morals and protecting children... I don't want America to turn into Iran (which is what it feels like is happening on some days). Feel free to protect your kids and your morality, but let other people set the bar for their own morals.

But in the end, again, you can solve your being offended by just moving on from this thread... That's not me telling you what to do, just pointing out the obvious choice you can choose to make to solve your problem.

No, I'm just showing you how its gotten to where allot of us think it's normal and acceptable. This is a perfect example of ''out of line''. Believe me, I didn't even want to comment on this thread again as I know its outcome when talking to people I don't know ''in the pool room'' which is where I'm at NOW. But this being so blantant and wrong, I thought I could change just One more persons perspective, that's all, I'm not on a mission, there's more mission here against this thread. Raise daughters and let them watch tv all they want when growing up.....then, don't complain if they start imitating Brittany Spears or Lindsey Lohan, and we all know how emotionally stable they are when everything is based on ''how I look''. Great players are built from the inside out, not the other way around. Using our pool forum to sell sex, is the easy way out to me.
Bye

And you have stated the answer, in your last post. (Working on my phone, cut, copy and paste isn't easy, heh.)

When parents raise their children properly, those children will know right from wrong. And how to understand what society is throwing at them. And how to evaluate their own self worth.

If you let your daughter grow up where she is adversely affected by a pool calendar, you have missed a step or two.

Is where society has gone right, or good, probably not. But our jobs as parents is to teach our children what is right, and good. Sadly, too many parents fail in this responsibility, and then place the blame on society. And Britney Spears.

I added Justin because of his constant work on pushing pool forward. He needs to be included imho :thumbup2:

Years ago my oldest daughter, who was only 19 at the time, was approached by a scout from Playboy magazine. She was working at an upscale women's boutique in Santa Monica and was not only quite voluptuous but very attractive as well. Men would hit on her every day including one who was married to a famous singer (sorry that one is a secret). Anyway this scout asks her about doing a photo test shoot in the Sunset Blvd. offices of Playboy and she agrees to do it.

I knew nothing about this until later when my daughter calls me and tells me they want her to pose for Playboy. My first reaction was WHAT!!! Yeah she says and tells me about the test shoot and how they called her about two weeks later and offered her the gig. After I get over the shock I ask her for more details. She will be paid $25,000 (in the early 90's) and have to pose nude of course. She was earning maybe a few hundred a week then working as a salesgirl so it seemed like all the money in the world. It seemed like a lot of money to me too, to be honest.

She asked me how I would feel if she did it and I told her that it was up to her, not me. I said I would respect her decision either way. Then I asked her how she felt about posing nude for the world to see. She answered that she would be embarrassed. That was the answer I expected to hear and I told her never put money before your conscience. She turned them down! I love my daughter and she is married to a wonderful guy with two great kids. She turned out okay in my book.

As for me, give me the calendar! :)

Not quite understanding what you're trying to say. All you see is hot women, right? Good, that's the idea. It's 80% sexy, 20% pool, and 100% fast&loose.

You are just filled to the BRIM with awesome stories, Jay. It was my pleasure to meet you at the 10 Ball Open recently at Hard Times Bellflower. If (and when!) you buy the calendar, I'll getcha a nice bonus large print for your wall at home! Take care.

I think it looks tasteful from the photos, not too revealing but artistic. I am sure the calendar is not for everyone when it comes to those who have families but it certainly appeals to the bachelor pool players and the man caves.

RunoutJJ,

I think I have that picture of Billy Aguero breaking the balls at Chalkers on a glossy kitchen magnet. Now I'll have to look for it :). Thanks for the memories.

Dave
