Years ago my oldest daughter, who was only 19 at the time, was approached by a scout from Playboy magazine. She was working at an upscale women's boutique in Santa Monica and was not only quite voluptuous but very attractive as well. Men would hit on her every day including one who was married to a famous singer (sorry that one is a secret). Anyway this scout asks her about doing a photo test shoot in the Sunset Blvd. offices of Playboy and she agrees to do it.
I knew nothing about this until later when my daughter calls me and tells me they want her to pose for Playboy. My first reaction was WHAT!!! Yeah she says and tells me about the test shoot and how they called her about two weeks later and offered her the gig. After I get over the shock I ask her for more details. She will be paid $25,000 (in the early 90's) and have to pose nude of course. She was earning maybe a few hundred a week then working as a salesgirl so it seemed like all the money in the world. It seemed like a lot of money to me too, to be honest.
She asked me how I would feel if she did it and I told her that it was up to her, not me. I said I would respect her decision either way. Then I asked her how she felt about posing nude for the world to see. She answered that she would be embarrassed. That was the answer I expected to hear and I told her never put money before your conscience. She turned them down! I love my daughter and she is married to a wonderful guy with two great kids. She turned out okay in my book.
As for me, give me the calendar!
