CJ Wiley's New Blog

CJ,
You are getting the most hits with this thread here on the Main Forum where there are more viewers that in the Aiming or Ask the Instructors Forum - that's because this is where the most traffic is.

There may be a lot of viewers that don't know who you are so can you post a vid of one of your matches to say hello to them...like when you beat Efren...if you did. LOL

Good luck and fortune.

I'm not sure how to "post a video"....do you mean add a link to one? ... I'm just trying to get acquainted at this point so I'll probably start off slow. I do appreciate your input ... just have some good videos being changed to the correct format now....most of my matches were on ESPN, not streaming video so it takes an extra step to produce. Would my YouTube matches suffice?

Welcome to the forum, CJ. Look forward to what you have to say. Best regards, GF

Hey there George....that means a lot coming from you ... I've seen a lot of what you have written through the years and it's always been appreciated. I'm sure you could give me some writing tips  aloha

There's a 100% chance I appreciate you saying that :thumbup2:

Hey buddy. Welcome to the forum. If any of the readers knew how much you can add, on so many subjects besides pool (like turning back the clock on aging) they'd be astounded. We had a good time in the Yucatan climbing pyramids, in Amagasaki City and Kyoto Japan and Aspen. Now, we can hang a little on the forum.
Judi says hello.

I haven't been in Alabama in several years, and I'm not sure where "Pelham" is?....just been in Dallas working on some projects that are pool related....recently got the green light to get a location for another CJ's Billiard Palace so there's a place to do tournaments and steaming video.....slowly, but surely getting back into the "pool scene" ....how about yourself?

We should hook up some day when you're ready

Learning Advanced Concepts of Pocket Billiards

most on here will not understand/relate what your talking about when you start discussing your thoughts/approach at the level you are/were playing at. They will enjoy you telling stories though.

I think you may be underrating your abilities to learn....it just takes time in most cases, from my experience....it's all about how you learn what you learn.

I played there a time or two (about 30 years ago) with Rusty B., Tom Ferry and Bill Berry if my memory servers me correctly. Also East Grand Billiards and Afton Billiards....it was exciting times for a 16 year old kid, that's for sure

CJ - I am good friends with 'Little' Ricky Van Uum and he told me the story more than one time about how livid he was that there was someone younger than him that could beat him when you came through St Louis. Wish I was around pool then.

Opening a Room Again!

Wow, I have been waiting to hear this news for quite a while! I grew up playing in your pool hall here in Dallas. Since you moved on, we haven't had a pool hall near your standards. I look forward to seeing Ben Tubbs taking care of cues again there, Roman chasing action, and playing on well maintained tables.
Please let us know when you have it up and running! Glad to hear your back in the game again. Welcome back.

East Grand and Afton Billiards....Early Days in StL

CJ - I am good friends with 'Little' Ricky Van Uum and he told me the story more than one time about how livid he was that there was someone younger than him that could beat him when you came through St Louis. Wish I was around pool then.

I thought that must have bothered him....I was 16 when I first went to St. Louis with a Mexican Tennis Champion (Carlos Norton)....I took him to play in a big Tri-State tournament and I went to the pool room....on the way we had car trouble and I spent almost all my money to get it fixed so at the pool room I pawned my Joss cue at East Grand Billiards for $300, then went to Afton Billiards and Jim steered my into a guy that I beat out of $600. I went back and got my cue, and was happy as a fat kid with a chocolate cake.

Those were some fun times....I played a lot more in St. Louis in the days/years following that....there was plenty of action there....especially when I started playing St. Louis Louie :groucho:

Table Engineer

RKC is too modest in his remark. No Real King Cobra does not just work on pool tables. He's a g.d. engineer of pool tables and the finest in the country, one of the reasons Diamond has retained him for design details. He's also famous for improving Gold Crowns or cobracizing them as he calls it. He's also a former owner of a pool hall and has some worthwhile business ideas regarding their functioning.
RKC/ Glen is in high demand so I would work something out with him quickly if possible. I may have one of the few cobracized gold crowns in Dallas; if you'd ever like to check it out, let me know.
On top of his amazing work on pool tables he's a great guy. If you want the best playing tables in the states, bring in Glen.

Earl got paid on that run? I thought there was a settlement, but from what I had gathered he didn't get the money that he was due and the lawyers got most of it. I never heard the amount because of the confidentialality of the agreement, but it wasn't near what he was due for the performance he gave.

Will you be offering fashion advice on your blog? Your look is totally sexy and fly, unlike, for instance, that nerd John Schmidt.

I would be thrilled to follow the evolution of your wardrobe alongside that of your career - from the outrageous get-ups worn in the "olden days.. back when you could earn an honest living from pool" to today (Affliction?). Pool innovation is at its peak and the merchandise is not far behind!
