Dechaine

How do you know

Shane wont have anything to do with Mike in any kind of gambling game.

Ask me how I know.

How do you know? Had to do it. I know you know more about Shane than anyone else in the pool world. You might even know more about all the players in general.

No explanation needed. I have been around Shane and Rory when Dechaines name comes up.

I personally do not like the guy. Always a confrontation. I don't care how well he plays, I would rather not have him representing the USA in the Mosconi Cup. There are others that play just as well.

On Second thought it would be funny to see Appleton get pissed bust him up on the table. Maybe he would then understand.

Lebron, Kobe, Muhammad Ali
I don't like these guys either. I prefer Nash, Dirk, Clyde the Glide, The Dream, Evander, Kenny the Jet, etc. None of them are cocky.

He's not disrespectfully arrogant or cocky.
You are wrong.

The dude can play, he can play at a very high level.
True, very true

Why bad mouth him because YOU don't like his demeanor?
Correct, I don't like his demeanor

To each his own, but you put that "humble" team up against my "cocky" team in skill or popularity and my "cocky" team wins hands down. MJ was another cocky player. Lemme guess you don't like him either?

People are obviously gonna have different opinions on Mike but my point is don't confuse dislike for him with him not being able to play. Hugarian you recognize he's good but others wanna discredit his skill because they don't like his attitude. That's like saying Kobe is no good because he is cocky, or he's not as good as Grant Hill because you just don't like him as a person. It's silly.

I hear stories on AZB, but watching his demeanor on streaming video contradicts those stories. He appears professional and business like.

I've met him many times and he seems like a regular guy to me.

And to the poster "UGETTHE6", Mike comes off as a much nicer guy than you come off as an AZB poster. I have never seen or heard him act anyway near the nasty way you act here.

The problem is you equate Mike D. to Kobe or Lebron, when he's actually more like Carmelo. Lot's of talk, this and that, and HE IS GOOD. No mistaking that, but he damn sure is NOT Lebron!!!

that's my only point. And there's nothing wrong with being Melo, he's still good, just not great.

Watch the podcast that TAR had of him and Hatch. When Dennis is talking, Mike is either looking around and not paying attention to the response Dennis gives or Mike is leaning back with his hands interlocked behind his head, acting like he is bored to death.

Racking

This whole racking nonsense is B.S. 9 out of 10 pros out there are doing the exact same thing! I heard from a reliable source who played at Turningstone that Mike wasn't the only one racking like this. And besides the previously mentioned Shaun Wilkie this kid is as honest of a pool player as you will ever meet and always gives fair racks to his opponent, always. Raj, Rodney all them guys do the exact same thing with the rack so please give Dechaine some credit. He won because of his ability to run racks not because of how he racks.

That's a good comparison. Not great yet, if he keeps improving like he is the sky's the limit though. My point was just that in other sports you don't see people piling on a good player just because they're cocky, it's almost embraced in other sports. Look at Usain Bolt, he's as COCKY as they come but people who follow track and field love him.

I think that when players complain about Mike giving them slugs doesnt mean that there are completely SLUGS!! More like racks that are CLOSE ENOUGH so they can get playing. I mean what pro would take a rack with a huge gap between balls?? Not one that would be ridiculous!! How many pros would hit a rack with a slightly unfrozen rack than deal with it for an extra ten minutes?? I know I would!! Sometimes the balls aight gonna sit perfect so you take close enough to perfect!!

Plainly noted these players see him as doing it on purpose to upset of get to Mike's opponents and guess what?? It does. Not saying that he doesnt earn his wins but when talking to these guys that play him they both say the same thing. Sounds too coincidental to be brushed off... Again im not ruffing up Mike im just going on what other people (Consistently) say.

I think Mike plays way better defense than Carmelo :p

I met Mike and talked with him a little, played one or two racks with him. I don't want to sound like I "know" the guy, we're not best friends... we're barely acquaintances.

I dunno his actual age, think 30? But maturity-wise he's... let's say young at heart.

I've heard him hound someone for a quarter for like a solid five minutes before they caved just to make him shut up. He'll make ridiculous prop bets just to liven up the atmosphere and alleviate his own boredom.

I wanted to add a lil story... there was a girl I dated at his home hall in maine, and at one point he was in front of the computer when she left herself signed into AIM or facebook chat or something, and he pretended to be her, and tried to convince me (after we'd split) that she was DYING for me to come over. Thankfully I figured it out, before driving an hour (each way).

That's kind of the personality you're dealing with. In a lot of ways he's still a kid. I don't mean that entirely as a put-down, after all I laughed at it so my sense of humor is about the same. But yeah, try to imagine Ralf Souquet doing that.

Mike laughs and chirps and and is mostly fun to be around, except when he's being obnoxious. Then you just want to shoot yourself to get away from him.

He's sponsored by predator, and swears by their products, they get their money's worth out of the guy. I don't think he's unworthy of sponsorship and I've seen flashes of professionalism. If he ever talked trash about Mika, I wouldn't take it seriously, when he's talked in the past about Mika he made it sound like they'd kind of bonded and become friends.

As for the racking thing... he worked with Joe Tucker to make Joe's new DVD (or was it a book? can't remember). Mike understands the rack. I won't comment on whether he actively tries to screw players with that knowledge. But there's no need for arguments and accusations when there's such a simple solution... just have players do rack your own.

I imagine in a few years he'll be a different person, hopefully one who still shoots just as straight.

Most of the racking replies are in regards to tourneys like Turning Stone...which aren't rack your own.

Might be true, but in real life people like me, I am saying stuff on here others are afraid to... I just normally don't entertain many of these beucase I don't have time to dedicate to AZ. So ta-ta for now, I will be back in a few months to chime in more about how much of a douche Dechaine is.

Why are you snuggled as close as you can get to Rodney and Mika in your avatar?

You are barking up the wrong tree big boy. I will take you straight the fluck off. You can bring who ever you want that is considered to be cocky and bet as high as a giraffe's ass against my team of respectful champions. We can also play with a gag order.

Douche is reserved for Earl so you will have to call Mike something else.

Mike IS cocky, but he is a pretty good guy and a hell of a pool player

So you're saying that a team of Nash, Dirk, Clyde, Kenny the jet, etc. would beat a team of people like MJ, Kobe, Lebron, Barkley, Dwight Howard, Shaq etc.? Larry Bird was even cocky. What team of humble guys could you put together to beat my cocky team? Come on bro, you sound silly. The top 50 all time is probably 70% cocky players.

If you want to talk pool then Earl is probably the cockiest pool player ever and he is regarded as arguably the best 9 ball player ever. Sigel was cocky, Keith, Fats, I could go on but you get the point. My point is you have to have a certain level of cockiness/ confidence to be great. Efren is cocky in his own way, he's not outwardly cocky but you don't think him scratching his head when he misses is cocky? Or his little sly smile when he approaches a table is not cocky? Most pool players are cocky, all you have to do is listen to a woofing session trying to get a game going.

In the Tar match between Johnny Archer and SVB at the end of the Friday night set Johnny Archer himself said Mike Dechaine can come get some. I'm sure Justin can replay that part.
