Simple, I sent him an email asked a couple questions about the case and what his best price would be shipped to my location... he responsed telling me it would be an extra $75 on top of his full asking price... I responded saying when I asked you what your best price would be shipped I wasn't looking to pay full asking price plus a $75 shipping charge, thanks anyways.... that was it then he lost his mind sending repeated emails bad mouthing me... I just stopped responding
+1 on someone else who will never deal with Roy.
I had a similar experience with Roy. I will never order anything from him and I tell all my friends to steer clear of his website. His ego is amazing (especially when it comes to SW cues).

They dont lack snob appeal they lack resale value among other things but that horse has already been beaten into atom size particles. "Custom stuff" has nothing to do with this thread. There are many "Custom stuff" dealers out there that have great reputations and excellent customer service.

Roy is my friend and my dealer. Under the grumpy exterior lie a heart of gold. You can say what you want about him but from a maker's perspective if there were 100 more dealers in the United States just like him who would stock deep and focus on selling without discounting then the billiard industry would be much stronger.
I have asked Roy to tone it way down on the angry responses. Sometimes he simply takes something the wrong way and goes off. Sometimes he is right but I have advised him to just be diplomatic and measured in his responses. At this point nothing is going to change though.
I'd take a bullet for Roy. I think he is a good man who has some eccentricities. Just clear one thing up though the assault on Roy was a home invasion where Roy and his secretary where threatened and Roy was beaten severely and left for dead. So you all can make fun of him and say maybe he deserved it but the fact is that he would not wish this on any of you ever no matter what words were exchanged.

I'm not defending Roy. He does all this stuff to himself but I don't really see any "victims" here. That word sounds like he screws people over. Have not heard of that happening except for once or twice and there are always two sides to a story. I have heard horror stories about lots of people in the cue world on different deals. Sometimes the stories are true and sometimes when all the info is revealed its not what it first seemed. Roy has done some deals I personally don't agree with but I havent known him to out and out heist anyone.
My point to this ramble is call the guy a dick if you want but its not like he's out there robbing people. Honestly I can understand where his attitude comes from. Anyone who sells anything knows how annoying it is to deal with serial tire kickers, up starts undercutting prices, that guy who just wants a little more of a good deal or the dude who wants to send a hundred emails on something he never had the money for in the first place. Roy just goes full retard and says what a lot of people want to say. I will admit its a lot more fun to watch it from afar than be the target.
Obviously most people deal with all that in a little more diplomatic matter than Roy seems to. It does kind of crack me up to hear nothing has changed though. If he was out there screwing people it would be one thing but just being an asshole is a right protected by the Constitution.

Edit to add: My favorite thing ever is to see peoples reactions when they find out what he charges for South Wests. Its either complete disbelief or insta-tilt resulting in a magnificent stream of cuss words. I've seen it in person and had a real hard time keeping a straight face. People just flip their wig. Its awesome.

Believe it or not, the entire world of Pool Players is not posting, reading the post on this forum. Roy has some who shall we say hate him, but he has an army of loyal customers.
Yes he sell Southwest's and other item for a profit, as believe it or not Roy is not some hobby dealer. He makes his living, and pay his bill off his sales. Inventory, Roy has it up the wazoo.
So to those who hate Roy, and Roy wanting to make money off his efforts. I challenge you to work for free, and see how long you can pay your bills.
When I was a self employed freelance photographer, I was offer a lot of work that if I took the jobs, I would be in the RED on. I refused, and told them in plain splinglish, I am not working for free.. I am sure some after we got off the telephone said A____but working for free just don't pay the bills.
