Who was the best pool player you ever played in your pool career?

My wife.

Met her back in '67 shooting 8 ball with these guys for a $1 a game and taking them off.

Six days later we were married, she still hasnt missed a ball or a chance to fish me into something.

For about ten years I was fortunate to be a partner/owner of a pool room and one my best friends was Nicky Vlahos. My tournament record against him is about 15-2 his favor. But that is unimportant.

What matters is that I had the great opportunity to have such a good friend and to play zillions of hours on all types of games (including tennis - at which he also excelled). He made me a good enough player to practice 9-ball and not quit until I ran a rack without the cue ball hitting a rail. It took him a few tries and I got it down to about an hour.

We were pretty even at straight pool with me playing left-handed (I'm right-handed) and him playing one-handed (without the cue touching the table.

I remember Nicky like it was yesterday and he passed on some time ago much too soon. I rank Willie Mosconi as the best I ever saw and then I rank Nicky second.

It sure is sad when the pool players we love go away and leave us. Sorry about your friend.

Chuck Norris.

Wrong. It's a universally acknowledged fact that pool players know everything better - Chuck Norris is lucky to never have ran into one!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

i played ginky, before i could run a rack, in a joss tour stop at cap's cue club in syracuse ny. i threw my $100 in and said, "i wanna play a pro, dicky"....and drew ginky first round...table 12 or 13, everyone watching, i jump out 3-2, and george put it to me to end my dream, 9-3 him. that was that.
