I know Richard Black took six outstanding cues to the show this year. I don't see anything wrong with Vegas either. It was St. Louis last year and Sarasota (at the Ritz) the year before that.
Regardless of location, I can't imagine the ICCS ever being a black eye for pool.
I think that we should remember that this show is not intended to be a huge event. First and foremost it's a gathering of collectors to show off their stuff to each other. Some cue makers are invited to show off new stuff and to make a cue to fit the theme. We got spoiled the years that Justin went and did interviews and live streams and cue maker round tables. Without him or someone like him willing to haul the gear to this show and do the work the show reverts to being a simple gathering of collectors displaying their collections.
And it's a very short event. Three days, 10-4ish I think, two of them being collectors and guests only. So during the event people are catching up, deals are being made, lots of super high end eye candy being fondled. And there is actually business to attend to with the show itself that precludes any other extra work to tell the rest of the world what's happening.
I think in the future it might be cool to assign someone the job of picture-person and set up a page somewhere where that person can simply take a ton of pictures and dump them to an online spot, like Facebook, Photobucket or better a private gallery for the public to see them. Don't need commentary, just the pictures.

Pretty sure they are still discussing where it will be. I heard New Orleans mentioned by Roy. I guess Will P. will announce it as soon as they have the details nailed down.
Eastwood was milling about at this years show. Both Prout and Watters were displaying their examples of his work (I have posted some of Will's case pics in the main forum). If you want to go over THAT top, get prepared to do some leaping.

I like Phil's work. My idea of over the top though isn't to use his cases as the bar to beat. He has done a great job of bringing a new look to case construction and his work looks better in person than it does in pictures. In pictures the detail work he puts in is just impossible to truly appreciate.
I prefer to think that I can continue to work withing the tradtional methods we have worked hard to perfect and yet still stack up some interesting elements on top of them. I have a lot of ideas that are very different than Phil's or anyone else's work. This is the perfect excuse to finally bring them to life.
I am super excited about the opportunity to display at the show officially and with a year to prepare I hope that we can come with some impressive and unique cases.
I plan to use this to show off the very pinnacle of what we can do in both construction and decoration and I hope that means surprising myself as well.
