Keith McCready coming out of retirement!

Surely no one was surprised the thread was deleted and I am very glad.

Ditto

Threads like that are why I tend to just scan over the Main Forum now.....and if it wasn't for the creation of the aiming forum I probably wouldn't even scan this forum.

As I said in the other thread, can't a guy take a few hours off, away from the forums? Sheesh

No. You have to be monitoring the forum every second because a good juicy thread can be gone at any moment.

I want to go on record as saying that I will sweat up to $500 on the Keither against any shortstop. I have a soft spot for the heroes of my generation so if Keith isn't playing a top notcher then I am willing to sweat a lil on Keith's side of it.

Plus I got a little kindling from the Obama win to get the fire started ;-)

Why does this thread feel like a life raft with survivors after the storm? :D

Well, I don't know 'bout y'all, but I'm heading for land where it's safe. :p

For those concerned about Keith's presence, he's currently sleeping soundly at the time of this writing. I wish I could sleep as good as Keith at night. I wake up every 2 hours. :frown:

BTW, to re-create the flavor of the other thread, I just want to let y'all know that we're having crab cakes tonight. These are 4-ouncers that I purchased from Bobby Chez Crab Cakes.

They cost about 10 bucks apiece, but, man, oh, man, I couldn't make 'em any better. And I do know how to make a mean crab cake, growing up on the Chesapeake Bay where we used to catch our own. Bobby Chez award-winning crab cakes are full of lump crab meat. We will probably have sweet potato joe-joes sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning and hot sauce with steamed asparagus sprinkled with lemon juice and Parmesan cheese on the side. Dessert will be frozen blueberry-flavored Greek yogurt.

These below are Bobby Chez crab cakes. Yummie!

Keith McCready

Q: What exactly does Keith have to prove?

A: Nothing, nada, zero, zilch.

The man has been there, done that, and he did it in a style, never seen before, or since.

If this match does ever go down, the people will be paying to see the Earthquake (no disrespect to James). And win, lose or draw, Keith's legend is plenty secure in the game we love.

Now, back to the food network. ;)

best,
brian kc

how many people that did have a clue who keith was back in the day, do you think Keith sucked into a game because of watching his stroke? All he had to do was miss here and there and had a game, i bet? I know if i was watching him, I would say, there is no way a guy that strokes like that could beat me lol :D

Any update on the status of the game? I believe it was taken to PM (and rightfully so)...would like to know details of both the scrabble and pool match before I decide on amount to bet.

"LA Keith" was the "Real Deal" and was giving everybody in California the 6 on a barT

"LA Keith" was the "Real Deal" and was giving everybody in California the 6 on a bar table when I was a teenager. And don't think there wasn't great bar table players in Cali. Keith just put so many "packages" together they never got a chance to use "the 6".....they never even knew they had it. We traveled with a few of the same "top notch" road players ie: Omaha John and Weldon Rogers....you wanna talk about TOUGH....Like havin a "bar table" Nightmare.

A little background on that picture. I remember that stick, C.J. That's a Bobby Hunter cue that Keith bought from Amar Kang, which originally was custom-made for Amar. Amar hit some hard times in D.C. and had to get out of town quickly, like really, really fast, but that's a topic for another thread. At the time Amar sold it, he said he was never playing pool again. :embarrassed2:

The shaft, however, was a loaner from Hennessee from Tennessee. When we got to the Open, Keith "claimed" his shaft was warped. I have never in my life seen anybody go through so many damn shafts and tips. Every time we went to a tournament, Keith was getting his shaft and tips worked on. Keith is the cue mechanic's dream. He greases their palm at every event. :D

The pants Keith is wearing belonged to the late Jimmy Mack, who passed away several years ago from Hepititis C, the disease that seems to be killing a lot of people from my generation. Most of Keith's dress pants were dirty by the last day of the Open. Jimmy heard Keith and I discussing how we were going to go out and see if we could buy a new pair of pants, so Jimmy offered his. Several weeks later, we ran into Jimmy Mack back home, and Jimmy asked if Keith would give him a percentage of his winnings since he won money wearing his pants.

That's Keith's lucky black sparkle shirt, which we bought in Goldsboro, North Carolina, while competing at Gene Hooker's Carolina Open. We bought it as an African-American gospel clothing store. Don't ask! :embarrassed2:

Keith came in third place at the 2003 U.S. Open this year with all these hand-me-downs, wearing that outfit and shooting with that cue.

Thanks for the happy pool memories, C.J.! :smiling-heart:

My happy memory of meeting keith is him threatening to knock my friends ( at the time) action at hard times if we didnt give him a cut of our winnings...which we did...

So, uh, who were your friends? And for that matter, who are you?

dont matter who I am or ex-friend...just saw a thread about Keith so thought id post...I don't dislike him at all for it, just figure it's part of the game so we dealt with it...like I said no hard feelings at all...
