Keith McCready MIGHT be coming out of retirement!?!

Oh I'm not blasting anyone.

Keith is one of the best players that has ever picked up a cue.

I just don't know why he would feel the need to prove anything to anyone on the pool table.

Don't see how anything I said was blasting anyone.

If that other guy is a pro and I called him a shortstop then I apologize.

I don't think this is about proving anything but more about Keith's timing for a return to competition on his own terms. It sounds like he is serious (at least I hope he is). I also hope he does his woodshedding beforehand. It's too tall of an order to be away as long as he has to come back at a high level in a matter of weeks. I have a feeling that in time Keith will be playing all games. Time will tell.

I get what you're saying... I just understood Keith to have been a little heated from a few pot shots when he made the reply about playing.

I just thought someone trying to call him out about it when he was obviously flustered was a little bit of bad form.

But it's all good... carry on then.

Not even sure why these guys want to play each other...

Keith doesn't even play anymore and the other guy is just another shortstop.

Neither one of them would have anything to write home about if they won.

Don't think I'd classify him as just a "shortstop."

All of this is lame. Yay, I'm a retired legend in the pool world and am going to come out of retirement because I had to settle an arguement on the internet between some random and my girlfriend who logged into my account and typed what I wanted to say for me. Sweet.

I don't know how the term shortstop got pinned on players who play better than 99.9% of the players in the world? A so-called shortstop is capable of beating any player in the world in a race to 11 . How many would consider someone like Hennesse to be a shortstop? Speaking of Hennesse, how would you play him some barbox 9 or 10 ball James?

Minor league ball players can beat 99.9% of the other players in the world.

I can beat 99.9% of other pool players in the world.

Conversely how would you consider Hennesse to be a pro?

What determines who is and isn't a pro.

Henny is no shortstop.
Hes a lower tier pro, bout the 3rd tier in the U.S.

3rd tier amongst US players? Holy hell man where have you been? I would love to see you break down these so called tiers. I don't see people lining up to play Hennessee at 10 ball on any table. How many US players would you back against him?

First Keith and now Jimmy Reid coming out of retirement. Pool is getting interesting again. These two guys were REAL gunslingers! :clapping:

Not Sure,

I spoke with Keith on the phone yesterday and he said he had no interest in playing any 9ball or 10ball.(Hasn't been in action in awhil he said) That if we played if would have to be a set of Full Rack Banks and a set of One Pocket...Banks is not really played here in Tx.

You have several very good finishes at DCC in both 1 hole and banks. Keith (in his prime) is known as a 9 ball player, not a banks or one pocket player. Most top "all around" player from his era would have been a favorite over him in an all around format. I personally think you have a bigger edge playing him banks and one hole than 9 ball, even if they are not your strongest games.

The man is 20 years past his prime.

Play the man, he wants to get in the box again. Give him the opportunity:)

Disclaimer, I know none of you personally, and I'm a banger:)

My banger opinion of some active players:
Tier 1: SVB, Archer
Tier 2: Corey, Schmidt, Morris, Moore, Daulton
Tier 3: Hennessy, Bartram, Landon, Shuff, Justin Hall, etc.

They sure were Jay. How bout Reid Pierce? and didn't Dave Matlock win the Olathe event last year in a field of young guns?

I believe we have to do things a little different when we get up in age. I also believe we can improve every day of our life. How exciting is that?

I would have to say that Daulton can probably get played by the tier 3 guys if it comes to 9 or 10 ball. Bartram where are you?

No one's list is bulletproof, its all bullish!t anyway. How often does anyone on these made up lists match up anymore? I do think if Daulton practiced for one month, he would be in the solid second tier (of my list). With zero practice, I'd still put him as a favorite over my 3rd tier guys (in 9/10 ball).
