Daz, this year we will be playing matches in the day and evening, at whatever time fits the player's schedule. Cheers mate

Sorry but they dont have a choice...

If any players miss the Derby for a week of Bonus Ball I will be really disappointed. I hope this isn't the case? :/

To join bonus ball, they had to sign contracts, they won't be missing bonus ball to attend Derby, besides, the several I have talked to about it aren't all that broken up about having to miss it for various reasons TBH....

A couple of new candidates to play are Oscar Dominguez and Dennis Haar. I like the idea we are getting some new guys to compete against the vets. Of course, these two have lots of experience against top players. Oscar was ranked #1 in this country only two years ago. In December I will print a list of the confirmed players. We are right at twelve now, four more spots to fill. I'm afraid some of our Bonus Ballers may miss out this year unless I hear back from them soon.

Oscar Dominguez is also part of the WPBL, as of course are many other top players. We have stated before that we have an agreement with players that allows them to compete in both world or top American events.

We have a system that will allow other players to sub for them when they are scheduled against such events. The Los Angeles team will still be very entertaining with or without Oscar attending. No different than a hockey team without Sidney Crosby in the line-up at times. The Pittsburgh Penquins are still an exciting team to watch! If they wish to participate and forfeit $1000 to not play in the Bonus Ball schedule that weekend is totally up to the players. We are for the industry and not against it.

The nature of our league being like other sports is to play a regular season schedule to entertain people and to determine which team qualify for post season play. We have had to schedule over many events unfortunately. We scheduled each team to have many weeks of by playing double headers and such to allow players to have extend periods off to allow them to participate in other events, which are professional in nature.

If you desire to compete as an alternate player in this league, please email me your resume and you may get to play in the WPBL as an alternate at info@playbonusball.com All alternates will be paid the $1000 that the professional forfeit. Some teams also already have alternates in case of their desire to play during one of our matches, some may not.

All the best to you Jay and your event!

Ok - I am a little out of the loop. The bonus ball league has matches scheduled as the same time as Derby City?

From what I gather it's league style , and if that be the case then they only have so many weeks to complete a season therefor overlapping can't be avoided. But they are lenient with their player participation . Which is great IMO

Bonus Ball is scheduled from now till almost 7 months down the road. Every weekend except the one after x mas.
They are not going to schedule around events, which why can you blame them? They are paying alot of money out. Alot. It could be harmful for players to take a week off for a tourney also, as BB has lots of top player awards that pay great at the end.
Not to mention first in the playoffs for the 3 man team is a bonus of 120k

Thank you for this information. It has been a little bit confusing for other promoters and some of the players. Many of them have won serious money at Derby City in the past (and they all got paid!), so it remains an important event for them. Good luck to you and to Bonus Ball.

Here is the way the Diamond Ten Ball event is shaping up so far. The following players are expected to compete barring anything unforseen:

Shane, Alex, Darren, Dennis O., Brandon, Oscar, Mike D., Chris Bartram, Jesse Engel, Keith Bennett, Chip Compton, Joey Gray, Dennis Haar. Possibles include Carlo Biado, Ralf Souquet, Karl Boyes and Max Eberle. It doesn't look like we will have any problem filling the field once again with quality players. :thumbup2:

We already have our Bonus Ball schedule for the year. I will miss the banks and barely the 1P division of Derby. But can go for 9b and 10b challenge.

Watchez, Bonus Ball overlaps Turning Stone and other stuff... Every team has some "bye" weeks. Unfortunately, my schedule lands smack in the middle of Turning Stone and Valley Forge. But not the US bar table... Ill actually miss the Jay Swanson memorial in my own backyard for bonus ball...

Don't take this wrong way, if most of the top US players are playing Bonus ball and not competing in the top US tourneys, then how this good for pool? Now I understand why SVB is not playing BB.

I do hope they do well with BB, but the topic lately has been what happens when no one watches it and the money dries up,

BB Pool Players talking to Normal Tour players (derby city players) US Open players, Hard Times Players White Diamonds Players

BB Pool Players - uh hey regular player, remember us?

Regular Tour Players - ya, you were the guys who bounced for this magic new game.

BB Pool Player - well, ya we decided that we should stay with tradition and support the tournaments that have been around forever, will you let us back in?

Regular Tour Players - nah, the new up and coming players have filled your spots, so we really have no need for ya anymore, but thanks for asking.

I love to see new things to promote pool but to be honest when BB did not put in time off for the players to play in the DCC is just crazy. I don't understand why the players didn't demand this. It is one of the biggest tournaments in the USA. It's not like they didn't know they were having it. I have played in leagues for 20 years and its always a way to work around something this big. The players are happy to be a part of Bonus Ball and the ones who are not wish they were and hopefully those guys will inquire about being an alternate and picking up a nice paycheck for a little bit of work (playing pool). Like it was said, a player can let Bonus Ball know they are attending an event and someone will fill their spot, that player filling the spot gets the paycheck.

A player will weigh it all out and see what is best for them, taking a chance and shelling out $2,000 in expenses and entry fees and try to win a tournament to make some money or take guaranteed money. Some players do really well at certain events and I am sure they will head to them as opposed to playing Bonus Ball and others will not. I think BB is being really relaxed about things and giving the players a good deal of freedom to still do their own thing which is good.

The players will go back to doing what they did before Bonus Ball if it does not make it, the players have everything to gain and nothing to lose with the state of pool right now. Getting sure money and having a steady income for the next 6 months is a sweet deal compared to what they had before it. There is no real pro tour, its a handful of tournaments each year which anyone can enter so there spots will not be filled by other people just because some choose to do Bonus Ball and not play in an event.

IMO, a total bone-headed move by BB not to carve out time on the schedule for the DCC. One helps the other. To butt heads is moronic and a couple of years from now, when BB is a KT-like memory, the players should kiss GS' toes if he takes them back.
