Why did Mike Deshane opt out?

I don't care about any of those. I care about the events and promoters and PPV we already have.

Collateral damage MsBelle, the consequences of free enterprise. :sorry:

What I imagine is BB causing industry fragmentation and the dilution of all existing business entities. BB will cannibalize members from a relatively small existing customer base making everyone financially weaker, yet not being strong enough themselves to be profitable.

Generally everyone loses when this happens, the existing industry loses market share with some entities ceasing to exist and the new business fails. But that's what generally happens when the new business model attempts transformation instead of integration, often there's also a reduction, rather than an increase, in the existing customer base as well.

You and I care about current events and promoters because we and others derive considerable enjoyment from them (and we may have some personal relationships that matter, too). But are they serving "pro pool" well? Is something much greater possible for pool?

And, not to worry. I did call what I said "absurdist musings." It's pretty unlikely that BB would completely Pac-Man the current world of pool.

[Some people want something much greater for pool than what we have now, some want nothing much different from now, and some don't give a fig.]

I agree Jimmy.
Free markets always boil down to what the consumer wants. As a PPV consumer I very much enjoy the events and streams that are out there. I especially like to consume very long rotational matches between top dogs. The kind that last a few days.

I have a number of things to say:

1. Mike is a stand up guy. When he has been in Portland, and I've asked him a question, he has always given me the time to answer. He is one talented player and anyone who knows him respects his ability.

2. This thread started out talking about BB and graduated into a pissing match. I use to play APA and then went to an independent league. It was my decision and I had my reasons. Why do I need to defend my decision?

3. I thought I read that all BB matches were in Las Vegas and the season was 26 weeks. Is this correct? Does this mean that one has to travel to Vegas every week? If so, that would be a major turn off. If I don't have my facts straight, I apologize.

4. Getting back to Mike. I wish some of you would cut him some slack. Yes, maybe he has acted like he was immature at times. That's part of the growing process. Might be part of the sharking process also. He comes on here and sounds sincere. He doesn't deserve all of the name calling. As I said, I know him and he is one confident and talented pool player. If you have something bad to say about him maybe you are the type of person who can't stand to see someone succeed and the only way you have to try and defend your failings is to attack someone. Try playing him instead of attacking him. Give him the break and all you have to do is make one ball to win. I'll put my money on Mike in a race to 15. I've seen him do this.

5. I wish the threads and posts on AZBillilards would be more about helping out the less than fortunate. Without boring you, I have learned more from CJ Wiley since he has been posting than from all the books and DVDs I have bought with the exception of his. I have PMed him a couple of times with a question on what he has said that I didn't understand, and he got right back to me. CJ might have something to sell but he sure is willing to help you out. This is what we need on AZBilliards, more pro players giving of themselves. Fran Crimi and Grey Ghost will also answer your questions.

6. Pool can be a real rewarding game personally. When you start graduating from banging balls around and start having ahaa moments and you are willing to put the time in, it's a great feeling. However, it is tough going it alone. I think a lot have benefited from a mentor, some have natural ability and can figure it out for themselves. Others struggle and never go beyond a 4 or a 5 in APA. It takes all kinds. I want to go as far as I can. Being at an advanced age, is a detriment, but I love the game and still want to learn. I really appreciate all those that post with something that contributes to the game. Thank You!

I like your post. In particular, I am impressed that C.J. Wiley takes the time to communicate privately with AzBilliards members to help them with their pool game. That's really cool. Thanks for sharing that. It makes me admire him more now!

I have beat stronger players than you sir. Iwould play without hesitation.

Sweet! You can PM me your name if you want.
You can say what you want about me but I gamble! A lot
There are few top players that I havent gambled with so lets get it on.
Just so you know win or lose I sit down, shut up and if I lose I pay off.
Just curious, who have you beaten that you consider stronger than me?

It was obvious from the start that this thread was going to the dogs.

Exactly how many different iterations of this line is in this thread?

And is James Roberts pregnant or just missing a key on his type writer?

And what game are we talking about? BB, scrabble, words with friends?

And where are the rest of the puppy pics?

Freddie <~~~ and he was like...
