Any news on Bobby Pickle?????

Thats great reasoning. I'm going away so may as well make it worse than it is.

Except, federal prison is a far better way to go if you know you're doing a really long time/life. The difference in cells, privileges, food and violence are drastic.
If I had to do life in a state prison, I'd just shoot myself and be done with it.

So, is anybody ready to discuss the rumor that he was involved in American Idol?

I spoke to Bobby about the incident at the house. He stated that the owner of the house had been selling drugs to his son and they went there to straighten him out. Bad move human, imo. Never a good idea to take the law into your own hands.

I heard that since he was out on parole he was facing no chance of ever getting out so he figured federal time would be easier and commenced to holding up some banks.

Bobby was a fun guy to be around. Always in action. Obviously had some character flaws that have landed him a permanent ban from society.

He will forever be missed by the pool community.

Here's a match with Bobby vs Sparky Ferrell : http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/3995621

Ray...the rumor that he did the banks for the reason you posted isn't correct. The bank jobs occured over a period of years.

And THANKS for posting the video of his match with Sparky!!!!

During my one and til now only trip to Derby i was lucky to sweat one of the most entertaining matches ever. After losing to Buddy, Efren and Bobby teed it up on the t.v. table. Bobby's downing Bud's as quick as his lady could bring em' and during his innings he led the crowd in a boisterous " USA,USA" the whole match. Bobby played ok, got a cupla timely rolls and sent Efren packin'. Classic.

Watching Bobby play on Truck's stream. What a waste of raw talent.

SO true Spidey. In the first rack he has a tough shot on the 3B and a couple of balls where bunched up table so he didn't figure to run out.

So he just goes ahead and shoots a 6 ft. combo to drain the 9 and wins the rack!

Classic Bobby.

For those who don't know him...I make NO excuses for a career criminal but it is true that he was introduced to crime as a young KID when practically the entire town of Everglades City was busted in a HUGE drug sting in the 1970s. (just google "Everglades City drug bust" to read all about it.)

Tons of folks down there with motor boats would meet drug smugglers a few miles offshore late at night and then navigate through the "glades" to avoid detection by the authorities.

Bobby's "job" was to lay prone on the bow of his old man's boat so they didn't run into floating logs etc. since obviously, they used no lights!

The sting resulted from a Cadillac dealer reporting to authorities that a LARGE number of Everglades City residents were buying brand new Caddies!

Again...NO excuses. He got what he deserved. But it is also true that no one could have had a better friend (or worse enemy) than Bobby. And it is a fact that he never knew anything BUT engaging in crime.

He had several brothers...mostly blond like Bobby, who were known by the cops as "The Yellow Haired Boys."

I also believe it is true that his first trip to the pen resulted when as a pretty young guy, he was passed out drunk in the back seat of one of his brother's cars...who decided to stick up a convenience store. Of course, the cops didn't believe he was unware of the commission of the crime and he did serious time for it as an accessory.

Judge not....least ye be judged.

I was just reliably informed that Bobby took a plea bargain. He was sentenced to 20 years (federal so he has to serve 85%) or 17 years on the kidnapping/assault/home invasion charges and the bank robberies were dropped.

So, Bobby will be gone for a LONG time and will get out when he's in his early to mid 70s.

When the pen he will be assigned to is made known to me, I will post that information for anyone who might like to correspond with him.

I certainly don't condone Bobby's actions and I believe he should do his time for his crimes. He definitely had talent playing the game. I was around him at a few tournaments and he seemed to be enjoying life. One never knows what personal issues they may be battling. I for one feel compassion for him, his family and any victims of his actions. Its never too late to turn your life around. Does anyone know where he is incarcerated?

He will soon be assigned to a Federal facility. I will post that information when it is available.

I don't remember the year but it was right after Bobby had gotten released from jail...For some odd reason I'll never understand, the BCA Nationals in Vegas that year let Bobby play in the Men's Open Division???? Something about he had been away from pool for awhile...
He went on to win undefeated the Men's Open for the prize of $7,000....
I went to watch one of my buddies matches and he was playing Bobby...Bobby was throwing down beers one after another...During their match Bobbby would actually fall asleep in his chair...My friend would have to tap him sometimes to tell him he was up....He would get up and just run out..Amazing...
In the money room on the money table, Bobby was there everytime I went by...Gambling and winning and a very entertaining guy..Lot's of personality...Fun to watch...Too bad some people have to live life the way they do...He actually could of been somebody..Talent and personality...Too bad...
