So is there footage of the famous 1990's Challenge of Champions dumping scandal?

Its all an interesting dynamic, including the "he started it" finger pointing, which you've got to admit, its pretty childish behavior (right along with the bullying).

Relaying facts is just that.

It's for sale on the internet.

That is unless you want a box of Kleenex for Christmas too."

I have read about six of your posts in this thread that I thought were total douchebagworthiness. Oh, wait...make that seven

Have you ever seen a television show without a script?
Mike Le Bron had all the shots to win.
How many shows leave teasers for upcoming episodes?

You think that just because these people are the finest pool players of their generation, that makes them exempt from the vices and greed which infect almost all people?

Completely missed the point.

Guess we should just excuse adult, champion, pool players for repeat shitty actions because well, "they're human and greed has to infect them! Or maybe they never learned virtues growing up!" This wasn't the first or last time doing this.

Not buying it. And to the guy who said there was lots of judgment and then posted paragraphs himself-these players were not going to go broke if they weren't rigging the line, so i'm not buying that story either. There was a ton of money in pool back then, what happened was corruption that both benefited and hurt the players, and definitely hurt our sport.

I don't find it easy excusing champions that throw their heart on the floor for a few extra bucks, but different strokes for different folks.

I have never seen a television show without a script. Live Baseball, Basketball and Football games have commercial time outs. Even the Santa Clause parade is shown with commercials built in. Why would pool be different? How did the players get there? Where did they stay? Who paid for that?

Guys, for the record... Superstar's posts are occasionally kind of trolly, but he(?) is under no obligation at all to share anything. People are acting like they're somehow victimized by him. If I had never bothered writing this post, it wouldn't even be on your radar.

Let's say you'd pay 5 bucks for this DVD. If you knew superstar had 5 dollars, but wasn't about to give you that 5 dollars, would you start calling him a POS / asshоle / etc?

It's his property. Y'all are not entitled to his property (for free or otherwise), any more than he's entitled to yours.

By the way, the ebay poster is netwrkz2000, who also was on AZ before getting banned. He only posted a few times, mostly to advertise his pool dvds. I guess that's why he was banned. Looking at his listings though, he seems to be selling all old, rare, out of print stuff, I didn't see anything that was still for sale elsewhere like accustats. So I don't think this guy is just some pirate who copies other people's pool dvds and resells them. I may be wrong.

I'm kind of hoping whoever wins this auction shares the video but it's their call.

You may well be right.

If these players were using reason, they would have chose not to use other people as means to an end. But clearly something in their mind overpowered reason. Most likely greed, avarice, envy, or something similar. And once these vices have taken a firm hold over the mind, and the reason is inhibited and restrained, what is left to prevent these men from doing absolutely anything for another dollar?

How would we expect them to act any different, unless great lengths were taken to instruct them about ethics? And even then, the teachers of ethics are often more unethical than the students! There are no easy answers.

You kiddin me? I've got a HUGE bid set up in my snipe and I'm gonna burn these and SELL them and make millions and retire.

This thread is never ending, not until I've wrangled the last penny out of DVD sales.

Since these are sort of pirated, does anybody have the number to AceDonkey's Uncle the DVD attorney?

Thanks

Kevin

I have looked for this video in the past. This is the first time I have seen it available:

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p2047675.l2565&rt=nc&item=281035359324

To those with ebay purchasing experience, did the same person, -***o( 326), bid the DVD up from $21 to $29? It looks like it.

A tournament was fixed, and now the bidding for a DVD copy of that very tornament is fixed as well. Is this one of the eight participants in the tournament running up the bidding on the DVD? How many of the eight that participated in this tournament are still alive? Does Ebay have rules on fixing auctions? Does Mike Lebron or Buddy Hall own Ebay?

=========================================

What is more interesting is commentary was done by two people (Hopkins and Rempe) who were aware of the fix and got a share of the 1/8th split of the $50,000. Rempe lost to Lebron in the first round. Even if Hopkins is Shoeless Joe Jackson, he still knew of the fix and commentated the whole match along with Rempe:

Quarterfinals

Allen Hopkins vs. Buddy Hall

Kim Davenport vs. Mike Sigel

Mike Lebron vs. Jim Rempe

David Howard vs. Nick Varner

Semifinals

Kim Davenport vs. Buddy Hall

Mike Lebron vs. David Howard

FINAL

Buddy Hall vs. Mike Lebron

=================================================

This seems like a circus of a sham. And the circus continues on the DVD bidding. Everyone whaaaaaammmmmmms all the time why pool is what it is. THIS IS WHY.

It is a dirty circle of tretchery and filth that will never correct itself!!!!

THREE CHEERS FOR OUR BLACKSOXS!!!

Allen Hopkins, Buddy Hall, Kim Davenport, Mike Sigel, Jim Rempe, Mike Lebron, David Howard and Nick Varner!

WHORAY WHORAY WHORAY!!!

==================================================

And SuperStar is the equivilant of the spoiled fat rich kid with the only basketball running around the poor kids in the neighborhood dribbling and singing "you'll never play....you'll never dribble......you'll never shoot."

This video sums up this thread the best:

Francis = SuperStar

I am sorry SuperStar....would you care for some gum:

You are right. The fix is in. Smart Money says stay away from that auction.

DON'T BID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

I know everyone makes mistakes, and i'm not saying these guys were less prone to make them just because they were great players. Reading my posts look like i'm being pretty critical, maybe setting higher expectations for Pool's championship players is a ridiculous thing to do. If you can get what, the last seven or eight guys of a tournament to cheat-then maybe it's more common in our sport than I know.

But then again, I don't have a problem with people hustling. I don't have a problem with gambling in our sport. Do ethics change when we go from hustling/gambling to professional tournament playing? I'm sure it does, but what's allowed and what isn't allowed, and who is to say that's right?

Going back to philosophy now, lol. Thanks for the discussion :thumbup:

I wish I could agree with you, but I will bid for this like it's a weekend on a nude beach with Jessica Alba. Pre babymama Jessica Alba even! Good luck.

Pretty sure bet that once the auction is over then another one will be listed. You can have all the Jessica Alba in a Mike Lebron suit that you want to watch.

All you would of had to do is get five or six guys here to agree to keep the bidding low...... ;)
