This is what I have come to know also. I like to shoot with a butt at about 1.27 to 1.30, but that's just me. I try to finish mine out at about 1.25 to 1.23. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
larger butt
a few days back i bought another bunch of titlist, and one of them was dead straight, so instead of cutting it. i just cleaned it, and put on a triangle tip. it's huge it weights, 21 3/4 oz and is 1.37 at the butt, its in my pool room for now and its my shooter.

That's a beast and I'd love to try something like that. I bet it moves the ball pretty effortlessly!
Straight angle or compound ?
1.22, straight, is really skinny. Too whippy of a forearm section for my taste.
I want that rosewood cue!

Titlist cues
I just got these 2 in today.
The Brazillian rosewood cue is straight. I was going to make a wrapless hoppe butt cue with an ivory joint, black joint collar 0.35 wide with a silver ring in it to match shafts I have. The hoppe will have a chrome plated hex head weight bolt.Maybe silver rings on each side of the Hoppe ring, the rings will have the thin black fiber pad line on each side of them. Shame to cut a straight 60plus year old cue...maybe...it would look hot.
The other is much lighter, indian rosewood or Ipe. I think indian rosewood it is pretty warped at 35 inches from the bottom. It is an earlier sticker Hoppe than the one above 1945 with a slower taper than later Hoppe cues so lots to work with in a conversion. I will probably find a buyer for it. Especially if I convert the Brazilian.

I decided against converting the cue. It was so straight it felt like a sin to cut it up. Also it tapered pretty thin at 28 inches, 0.82 inches, just too thin to use this for a wrapless with a 0.6 long hoppe ring and black buttcap. If the bittcap were longer it wouldnt look right.
So I stripped off the finish and sanded it down until the veneer collors popped. I left the hoppe sticker, signature print and weight stamp in place. Just put finish on it and it looks real nice.
This cue has a buckhorn ferrule, not sure if that was standard. The other Titlist has a black plastic ferrule. The lighter indian rosewood cue has a oversjzed butt, 1.40, at 28 inches it is 0.88. I will either convert it or sell it.

Here' s the Hoppe Titlist refinished with I finish coat applied. I saved the logos, it' coming out real pretty. I just picked up a matching pair of 1923 ball and cue racks, they are a reddish mahogany.
I stripped the kther cue and will convert it into a no wrap 2 piece cue. Its a club 1.41 inches at the end, so lots to work with.
