What pool game do you like the best? One Pocket, 9 ball, or 10 ball?

One Pocket, of course.
The game not only requires all the skills necessary to pocket balls, but also a certain amount of stealth, daring, and imagination.
I rarely gamble, and when I do it isn't for very much, and usually it's a race to three, or four.

Hey Tramp,
We need a story now! Come on give us one! Happy Holidays to you and the whole tramp family. I don't think that came out right? Happy Holidays to you and your family, now that is better. One story or bust......

9-ball race to 5. I've been playing it for years and know it well. It's a money maker for sure.
8-ball race to 5. Everyone knows 8-ball and its easy to make money at when you hustle in bars because the only rules that change is call pocket and in the kitchen foul shots in my experience.
10-ball as a warm up. I've never played an actual opponent as not many people I know have ever heard of it.
14.1 while trying to get some good training in as a warm up or just to kill a huge amount of time alone.
1 pocket I've never played. But I'm willing to learn! :)

Lock, the only two games I ever dreamt about were 1-pocket and 3-cushion.
When I was an action hound, sometimes I'd wake up at 4 in the morning and
go to an all-night pool hall and try the shot that woke me up.

I've played a lot of 9 and 10 ball...so I can't say I don't like them...
...they're good games.

...well, except for call-shot 10-ball....takes the magic out of the game, IMO.
..ESPECIALLY call-shot 10-ball with the 'option'....that game reminds me of
why I wouldn't play 8-ball...till the BCA came up with a good set of rules.

I've recently determined that I much prefer pocketing balls over just knocking them together, although they both have their merits.
There is something so much more satisfying about the knock and drop...

As for the game, I dont even care.

Rack em. Bring it. Lets boogie. Fire it up. Wind that rooster with a curly-comb, gimme ten dollars and you can take em home.

I'll be down your way in a minute LL just tell me where you'll be.

Merry Christmas,
PT109 and to your family. Keep on hitting the balls one will go in some time or another!
At 4 in the morning the balls are sleepy....

I love One Pocket, but in my country, almost nobody plays it.
So I play 9 Ball, and 10 Ball, but i don't like the 9 Ball.

For 9 Ball and 10 ball I'd love race to 11, One pocket - race to 3 or to 5.

Below are my opinions not meant to cause arguments.

My Fav game to play when i can is 1pkt. All the things you have to know about pool all take place most games. (save for the 8-n-out games)

I no longer play 9 ball, I don't understand how people enjoy playing a game where slop counts or wired 9's on the break count....... I could go on, but bleh :/

In my hometown there is a 10 ball, call pocket, no 10 on the break and if your opponent slops a ball in you can make him keep shooting........tournament. I have only played once, but MAN DID I LOVE IT. So that might move up my list of fav games.

Hello Dr9ball,
I wonder about your name? It says you must have liked 9 ball at one time! Just kidding.
Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I did live and breathe 9 ball when I was a kid. I grew up near Kentucky and Bank pool was also popular though 9-ball was easier to pick up than Bank pool was. So, that was my main game for several years. Sometimes it's good to try new things. I don't play much rotation now.

Never fear, the Trampster's here. I'll have a Christmas story coming soon.

Of the three listed, I can play 10b all day and never get tired of it.

9b, occasionally I get annoyed when slop or an accidental nine puts me back in the chair. After a few of those I'm ready to play something else.

One pocket I just don't have the patience for. It's a beautiful game, I just can't have much fun playing it.

All of the games you mention have their merits. Even 9 ball with Texas Express has its place. For a while, I loathed 9 ball because of the "luck" involved. But now I think that the rolls even out over time and I have embraced the unpredictable nature of the game, even laughing when my opponent sh$ts one in on me from an impossible lie. Just part of the fun, imo.

Basically, if it involves potting balls, its a good game IMO.

I love all the games, each one for different things. I enjoy 8ball for being very complex, especially if there ate lot of clusters on the table, the shot selection is even more crucial than in 14-1 i think.i like 9ball for pure shotmaking while being able to play two-way shots, also due to relatively easy break it is the most fluent of all games.10ball is my game when i want to test my skills without the aspect of luck, also i enjoy it because of the breakshot-when you find the sweet spot and second row balls go into the side pockets..thats just nice :) and then there is 14-1 - the only game where you can truly unleash your rythm...and the thrill when you get close to triple digits in your run - i love that adrenalin rush... :) 1-pocket - i really enjoy the game but there is noone to play it with me,its like chess at times while sometime you just have to go for it :D and just recently i have been introduced to bank-pool..MAN! WHAT A GAME! You can unleash your agressive self on the table with those banks yet there is very strategic part to this game too, very exciting imo :)
And if you are really bored and think you are good enough you can always try snooker ;) beautiful and challenging game ;) the same counts for 3-cushion,your position game will be tested to the limits :) i just love them all :D but if i had to fight for my life i would choose 10ball race to 25 winners break :)

I think I enjoy barbox 8 ball the most, and I seem to win more 8 ball tournaments than I do 9 ball tournaments. We don't play 10 ball here in the Midwest, except for ring games on the big table.

I can play 1 pocket, although I don't have the patience for it most of the time, especially 'wedge' games.

I was a money player down through the years, and got used to 9 ball, or just a game not taking long, and playing 1 pocket is like going to the dentist.

ROTFL- nice decent words :grin-square:

Favorite would probably be 8 ball followed closely by 9 ball on a 9' table. Also play snooker in the winter on a 10' table. Also play one pocket for variety even though it's not really one I'd go out of my way to play.

When my friend is able to we also play 14.1. at his room on an 8' table.

Summer it's bar box 9 ball and practice on my 8' Anniversary.

Have also subbed in 8 ball bar box leagues prior to going SW.

Here is my order of preference.

One Pocket - You need the skills of every other game to play it. Playing One Pocket makes you better at all of the other games.

8 Ball

Banks

9 Ball

Preferred race is 3 out of 5 in One Pocket.

But did you win playing those guys? Happy Holidays, to your and your family. Thanks for your input.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

They both spot me 9-7 playing 1pocket, actually iam even with both of them, split sets both times i played them, Brandon is the better player of the two, i can tell you that!

Meaning,
Which pool game do you like to play the most, Why? And a race to how many games do you like to go to for paper? This is not a poll! Just a few questions about your likes in playing pool. This is related to your choice in playing pool games. I know I left out, 14.1. Thank you for your input.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

one hole, 8, 9 ,10 in that order. 14.1 is not my bag(like to watch but not play)
