I want to know by public opinion, who is the best breaker in the game?
This question can only be based on two essential variables; Power and Cue ball control.

Let me know who you think should claim this title.

My money on today would be on Van Boening or if it would be voted for all time, maybe......Late 70's, early 80's Mike Sigel.

Let me know.

Well Jeff de luna might be the best breaker in terms of power i supposed, i have seen him break a mezz shaft and a bk shaft with his power, but in terms of power and cue ball control, i would have to choose SVB, but not neglect the Taiwanese Chang Jung Lin who got power and cue ball control. Well in the given game day, how do we know whos the best if even with such power and cue ball control no luck in the break going in!!!

Well-my opinion:

Fong
SvB
Feijen
Hohmann
Archer
Le He Wen
Souquet
Lely (still)

Let me just add. I've seen SVB and Bustamante break in person. SVB takes it on pure accuracy the guy is just amazing. When he finds his sweet spot he does the exact same thing every time. Bustamante on the other hand is pretty accurate but packs some heavy bang behind it. In person Bustamante's break is really impressive.

Theres a fellow from the philly area that goes by the name of sam (about 30-40 big white guy) he came in my pool room a couple of years ago, he broke the balls so hard that the cue ball would get yellow spots on it from the 1ball, he says he broke qballs before and 1 balls from his break (i never seen it) but Sam _____ did play jam up pool, could not get him a game here in baltimore, except with Slivka, but i quickly declined that idea!

Let me know.

I would have to add a 3rd criteria and that would be pocketing a ball ;).

That said I think it would be hard to narrow it down. Segal had a great break in his day and Shane has a great break. Johnny Archer had a killer break in 9 ball as well Varner.

But I think Wade Crane would probably be my pick for most effective.

There are probably 50 others that deserve to be in that group.

There is a local guy that some of you probably know that I always thought had a good 9 ball break and that's Sam Dier. He had a very intimidating and accurate break that usually gave him a leg up on his competition.

Shane has probably figured out the 10 ball break as good as anyone can. Has developed a consistency that is impressive to say the least. Cory did something amazing with his soft break. There was a time when he had an edge on everyone with his creativity breaking the balls, let alone on a rack your own 9ball. Deluna hits the balls HARD,,,,, and he controls the cue ball well. I'd put Bustamante amongst the greatest I myself have seen breaking. It was a different sound from his break in Galveston. Almost sounded like it had bass lol.

Based on what happened at the us open this year.... Shane by far, in terms of consistency+ power+ accuracy.
