They're still considered two of the best American players (Archer more so than Strickland) because of their recent achievements, not what their game was like 25 years ago.
Common Sense, you have no power here!

More to the point, Archer and Strickland have remained active since their heydays...the others all took signficant time off from pool. It kinda of shows how good players from that era really were, in comparison to today's pros. It would still rock, though; and I wouldn't be so quick to count any of them out, especially in a ring game format. You gotta believe they would work to get themselves into some sort of competitive shape, especially if they knew all us bangers would be glued to our computer screens to see it!

LOL.
I use the sarcasm brackets because it is hard to sense it in type. If I didnt use them some people here would have probably thought I was serious.
Somebody send me this recently, and it reminds me of some of the posts in thread:
Old Guard: If you got drunk off duty, your buddies would take you back to the ship so you could sleep it off.
New Guard: If you get drunk off duty, they slap you in rehab and ruin your career.
Old Guard: You slept in a barracks, like a soldier, sailor, or marine.
New Guard: You sleep in a dormitory, like a college kid.
Old Guard: If you wanted a quart of beer and conversation, you could go to the NCO or Officers' Club.
New Guard: The beer will cost you two dollars and someone is watching to see how much you drink.
Old Guard: If you wanted to relax, you went to the club, played pool, smoked, and drank beer.
New Guard: You go to the community center and can still play pool, maybe.
Seriously put Shane on a gold crown with those Hugh pockets they had in the 80's and early 90's playing nine ball, it would be sick!
Archer and Strickland excelled during that time period and they're still considered two of the best American players. I'm including C.J. with them.
How about CJ versus Bartrum on the TAR table?
No, but it could not be any worse than the Dechaine horsef***ing.
Just a side note, SVB has never beat Archer for the cash but Earl has
Shane beat Johnny in the finals of the Reno Open in 2007.
Other then the last TAR match, has Shane and Johnny matched up outside of a tournament before?
