Well said,,,I have no stories,,just a lurker of the forum. And I can not believe that a pro pool player ,,,on a pool web forum,,,gets treated this way.
It's un excusable! I just hope he can overcome it!!
He is one of the few pro's on here,,,and comments more that any,,and is very professional,,even in his posts.
He didn't deserve none of this. Makes me want to not come back to see the BS. The thread should have been removed before it got this far. It is just wrong.
CJ is a big boy.... I don't think he's going to be ran off anytime soon... He's done enough in the real world after his run to the top to have developed a thick skin.... I may trade jabs with some of the detractors but I wouldn't hesitate to trade jabs with him as well.. He gives as good as he gets......
One thing that you have to remember is without people questioning you don't find new ways of demonstrating and explaining things... You end up complacent...
The detractors are what will ALWAYS make you stronger because you have to rethink and back up and question yourself.. If you can answer your staunchest critics and do it honestly you win... They may still criticize but they come away with something just like you will......
Chris
Does anyone else think this has gone a little too far. There are 4-5 threads on the first page of the main forum regarding CJ and TOI consistently. Why isn't all of this in the ask an instructor section or somewhere else. Hey, I am not trying to bash him or his work, heck- give him his own section for all I care but I don't see any other instructor having their videos posted on the main category like this. Bad precedent IMHO.
Go ahead, flame away......
Oh wait, SH%T. I just added to the problem. :grin-square:
I am a Super Moderator for the largest Lexus Forum on the web at Clublexus, and have been a mod for many other car forms in the past. The one thing I understand is it doesn't matter where regular members think posts should go. If the administrator and mods don't move or close the post it's because they are okay with what it is about and where it is located. Regular members of a forum have no authority of where they think posts should go. Their opinion doesn't matter. If you don't like it, go create your own forum.
I agree with this in principle but I think that the detractors should be kept in check with their language and actions. Too often they are allowed to do and say things that are out of line. I feel that anything someone puts up on the open forum is open to criticism. But when people, like Lou, start to make personal attacks then it's out of line and detracts from the overall experience.
I can't imagine that on the leather working forum or the woodworker's forum that any poster would be allowed to maliciously attack any master leather or wood worker. Not only would it not be allowed but the mods on those forums have created a culture where everyone knows that such behavior is not tolerated and so it doesn't even come up on the rare occasions when there are disagreements about method or technique.
Jeeeeeeeshhh-
You guys are going a little extreme, dontcha think?
Some of us enjoy Lou and his postings - and you guys are almost making it a 'matter of choosing' between them.
I think it should be toned down.
But WTF do I know?
To borrow a line from Alfie: keep it nice.

This is the guy some of you would like to see leave AZB or conform to your idea of how he should present his ideas?

How many people do you know who have reached not only the top of their sport but also then created successful businesses from it? I don't know how many people on this forum have ever owned their own business or have ever been responsible for a large staff but it's difficult.
CJ is the voice of experience on many levels in the pool world. Everyone on the forum, other pros included could learn a lot from this man.

What a childish way to argue...it's not because of jealousy, or disrespect for CJ, i have the utmost respect for him and other pros, in any sport..i loved his articles on his website...
I do however have the right to state my opinon about certain things on this forum...
..there is a lot of advertising on this forum, a lot of buisness happening (hence your nickname for example), and thats perfectly fine..CJ's advertising is by far the most agressive i have ever seen in these kind of boards...it's called content advertisment, and he appears to be very good at it...people buy his stuff and dont even belive he's doing advertisments...great tactics..
He's a pro..he's advertising and selling himself..and hes good at it...i'm just telling like it is..do i want him gone from this forum?...NO!!!!..im just saying what i see, and i dont necessarily don't have to like it..
But.....Yeah, well, that's just, like, my opinion, man. Nothing personal..

Of course because I prefer experienced veterans of the sport and industry over anonymous accounts and rank amateurs when it comes to getting advice on how to play, road stories and product information.
No one told you can't state your opinion. Did you attack CJ personally? Have you called him a snake oil salesman, purveyor of BS, or any other of the various insults tossed his direction?
Of course someone can say they don't like to hear stories about the time CJ beat Efren, or when he spanked Archer, or what it was like running a huge operation IF that means he is going to say something about the instructional videos he sells. That's fine.
My point was and is that relegating him to sub forums is the same as banishing him and it is my opinion, which I sincerely hope you find to be as valuable as your own, that this website would be the worse for it.
This is a man who has accomplished what every pool player dreams of whether or not they admit to it. So go ahead and do and say whatever you think you need to do to push him off the forum and then when he is gone you can listen to all the non-champions debating on the best way to draw a ball from the amateur perspective.
Yes it is completely childish to present evidence to make one's case. Children do that all the time, going and finding links to content that is relevant. You should see what my four year old can do on the IPad when I tell her no. By the time she is done pointing out the psychological ramifications with links to major case studies I am unable to resist and give in.
Would it make you feel better if I gave everything away for the "Good Will?" I feel like the guy that had a cure for cancer and the government told him he couldn't sell it because he was making "claims" that weren't approved by the FDA. He said "fine, I'll just give it away, my reward will be much more than money"....A few months later they shut him down entirely (so the story goes, of course this can't be true because the gvt never lies).
I agree with him, my TOI system was born and is growing legs and people are coming out of the woodwork to try to destroy TOI before it can spread the "good news" that pool doesn't have to be so difficult. The way most people play pool is so brutally torturous and not satisfying. I couldn't run a rack playing that way, and would quit from boredom the first week (playing the "conventionally taught methods". FACE BOOK PAGE WITH MORE
Hitting invisible contact points, invisible "ghost balls", thinking about arms, elbows, pistons, pendulums, trying to hit the center of the ball, following through to amplify all spins and deflection so you're forcing yourself to miss 10% of the time just because you're trying to do all these things that are not not effective and not any fun either.
Pool can be made easy so everyone can enjoy and the industry will prosper in ways that won't be able to keep up with. Will I "sacrifice" the sale of a few DVD's a week for this "BIG PICTURE"? Let me think about it......:groucho:
The answer is "you bet your sweet conventional method of hitting a white ball into another ball with different speeds and spins to try to stop the ball on a certain part of the table for the right angle to make the next shot as easy a possible so you can do it again which is incredibly difficult and ineffective" BUTT I WILL:wink:'The Inner Game is the Teacher'
TOI uses a blend of the same speed, spin, and angle all created by using your tip to a point on the cue ball EVERY TIME.....very simple, very easy. 'The Inner Game is the Teacher' [url]www.cjwiley.com
