AFAIK, 3 cushions has always been in a separate and more quieter room. The game seems more upscale compared to pool.
I appreciate Mr Allen Hopkins making this year's Pro Event free, instead of paying a ticket for either afternoon or morning session as in past years. More money leftover so I can spend on both vendors and food. Since some of us are used to paying for this event, I wonder for next year if Allen would consider accommodating both type of customers; free and those who are willing to pay?
Installing TV/Projector screen by the food vendor could help keep the pro arena from being labelled a food court. Premium or reserve seating for those who are willing to pay for their spot. Since seating was free, I thought it was it was very inconsiderate some people acted as if it was reserve seating, and preventing others from sitting.
For example, if Tiger Woods suddenly had a revelation that pool was his calling and destiny and he had to be involved every day with professional pool it would make a huge difference. Because if Tiger was involved, then Michael Jordan would get involved, then hundreds of other celebrities.
They need a reality TV show involving pool. The Ultimate Fighter put the UFC and MMA on the map and brought them back for a mostly assured bankruptcy. That one reality TV show salvaged the entire sport for the US market. We need an Ultimate Fighter for pool. Take 16 aspiring professionals and throw them in a house to live together for a month while training on teams under expert coaches, and have them match up weekly in races to stay in the house and win the show. Just an idea. I'll volunteer for the cast.:thumbup:

what we really need is a Poolmania like WWF does throw the top 24 players in the cage and who ever is the last man standing wins. My $$$ is on Denis Hatch as the last man standing and Hilbilly a close 2nd and larry nevel in 3rd, thats my tri-fecta bet on the cage fight. Parika and Hunter Lombardo are the first to go, (sorry Hunter, you know i respet you a ton but cage fighting dont seem to be your bag) now if they let me in as a alternate since i'm no pro player I can promis everyone this, I'd be the first one to lose-same as in pool, Gosh I suck.....
i'm just being silly its late and i need to sleep, but Big D is the favorite, he is one tuff guy, wow.

3 weekends ago me and 2 top pro's and 2 other pool "guys" spent 2 days shooting a promo video for a reality show, we did some in a private setting and some at Hardtimes in Bellflower. I cant say anything else about it, well i will say this I was a steak horse one of the $$ guys, I wasnt a player, I'm not sure how its going yet as they have to edit the 17 hours down to 3 minutes.

Pro Pool isnt a viable business, nobody is going to post up the millions it would take to get it off the ground ...
Capital influxes rarely fix major business problems, so no, putting millions into pool would be like blowing smoke in the wind. ...
But Bonus Ball is in the process of investing those millions. Did you forget them, or you already counting them out?
This is a ridiculous example, but you understand what I"m saying. Games are all boring to watch, some are just branded so well now we forget that we are watching the players, not the games. Baseball is a prime example of an extremely boring game that's extremely popular, it's the national pass time for goodness sake.
I have to disagree with this statement. It seems that with "Pool' nothing works as expected as with other sports. Tiger Woods or any other top sports celebrity would have to be "highly proficient" at their new sport/venture to attract new spectators, fans, or investors into our sport. If they do not "exceed' whom will want to watch them missing balls that many people deem "easy"?
For some reason, in the past years, we have not been able to decifer what is the best formula to make a "significant change' with our sport.
I may be a pessimist, but I just don't see any future in "sparking interest" to elevate our sport to another level.
The last I heard the number was much lower than a million dollars, however, they are taking a considerable gamble. ...

I hear people talk about football all the time, but I never hear them talk about the football....they talk about the players and what they did or didn't do.....pool will be the same way. 'The Game will be the Teacher, but the characters will make the show'.

CJ - I had some thoughts on your quoted text above, but it became too long, so not to disrupt this thread entirely, I put it here:

"The players tell the story."

Your're on the right track I believe. We used a "think tank" of 1000 people to find out what the "average, everyday" person likes about pool and the answers were surprising. 'The Game is the Teacher'
thats a true statement, i hope that think tank is on the $, they should be from what you said,
