Are you sure you've ever seen Cliff play, Naji?
I was thinking that myself, but Naji has been around, so he must have.
I like Cliff's game in one-pocket a lot.

Imo Alex is the favorite in the tournament, he has the strongest all around game and it will show on the big table. However, don't ever count Reyes out he's always been a very special player with a will to win. Reyes is a very proud man who wants badly to avenge his biggest disappointment, and that was the last time he played on the Diamond 5X10 table in the "Make It Happen" 8ball tournament. He played very poorly and I know he's prepared for this event because of how poorly he played in the last one. But can he perform on the big table at his age? I don't know but I do know that he'll be much better. This could be Reye's "Last Hurrah"..

If naji doesn't think Cliff can run 8s then... I think Cliff has naji right where he wants him. Lol Jk
I would love to see all of the top players in it, but it was voted for. I agree Cliff knows the game, with shot clock i wounder how he thinks and play! i know he is not going to have 8 and out runs.

What I was trying to say was, tung-in-cheek: Since they used reds & yellows for 8-ball, then why not use one single color, such as ALL red or ALL blue for one-pocket? That would be the next logical step right?
This was an admittedly facetious comment on my part since I was extremely disappointed about the ball set used for the 8-ball event. I think even the Aramith TV balls (with the pink 4/12 and brown 7/15) are pointless now with the blue cloth and the resolution of today's video productions.
One reason for my disappointment was the VERY FACT that the commentary was made to be awkward. I want to hear good analysis when I watch pool.
I'm not a one-pocket fan anyway, and I do think Accu-Stats does wonderful things, so I'm not wanting to hammer on this... carry on.

Hay Matt, hope all is well in your new endeavor and beloved ones are happy, missed you man!
IMO-do not tell anyone, those that starts their pool journey in one pocket are very bad players when it comes to 9 or 10 balls, the other way around, they will be killers in one pocket once they learn the moves-sounds like you. Cliff is a one pocket player , truthfully do not know how his 9 or 10 ball game, from the attached YouTube he sucks in pocketing balls (way off) and running balls! Also watched a lot of one pocket he does not have big confidence in his pocketing long shots, always ducking, that does not work with the monsters at Make it Happen. Since 2010 he seem to have dropped a notch, no player will beat Cliff with play one ball at a time game.

Scott on the other hand, is a great one pocket player, definitely his skill is not better than some of them, if it was 9 or 10 ball i'd say he has no chance, but one pocket is a game of knowing when to attack and when to retrieve. I am only giving him the benefit of the doubt because he is in a revenge mode, hope he lives up to it and not suck like he did with Alex, based on this I will put up $100.00 if he loses but under one condition, you and I play 4 hrs of one pocket $50 a game- even- kinda giving two games on the wire at a no smoking pool hall. If Scott wins you got a ball for $50 a game..
JAM, Cliff was a big threat back in the days, it is too bad we do not grow younger. he won the Derby One Pocket once in 2002, and 2nd place in 2007, He has the patience which is half the battle, but the skill is not up to par!
I'll take that offer if Matt doesn't!

yup Alex is the favorite, by a hair a very fine hair, I attribute that to the 10' box, thats his edge. anyone can win this if they play well.
Great idea! I can't believe nobody has thought of this previously for one-hole. It would take the guesswork out for the spectators who may not be familiar with the game of one-pocket. Brilliant!![]()

All black balls. Reinforces and showcases the elegance of the game. Varied colored, striped and solid, numbered balls is a poor design for One Pocket... too much unnecessary, confusing information for a territory game with communal balls. But yeah, when you step outside of playing it and try to communicate or commentate about it, words suck: "This black ball, here."
This event looks fantastic! I'll be away from home then so have to wait for the DVD.
I'm rooting for Scott. Watching him play is a treat, and after his last performance he should be motivated and if so..look out!
Jam I enjoy your posts, but if you think the 1pocket hall of fame voting is based on racism, that calls for a different thread. Seeing this thread completely trolled/derailed due to a crazy left field racism accusation because Cliff wasn't in this is just nuts. Cliff is awesome...but he deserves better than being dragged into this on some wacky allegation. Should he be in it? Absolutely! Does his not being in it have something to do with racism? Lol of course not. Bad move posting that nonsense. Just my opinion.
