Bonus Ball

What is going on here?

First, BB dismisses Jimmy Wych, and now vbpp123?

That's two people BB let go. Who's next?

I have a question, though. If this is a Canadian outfit, why are they here in the States with the promotions? If BB already has a platform going on in Canada, with people playing the game, it would seem logical to have it take place in Canada. Purple and orange balls seems goofy.

This reminds me of the IPT. I was on the other side of the fence with the IPT. While everybody was bashing Kevin Trudeau and the IPT, we saw nothing but pool bliss. It was beautiful!

Those who are still getting paid by BB are going to defend it to the nth degree, as did I, and still do, with the IPT.

Fortunately, I have not lost any money with BB, but I do find myself on the other side of the fence. Doesn't look so good to me if those who were loyal from its genesis are now getting dismissed. Something's rotten in Denmark -- I mean Vegas. :embarrassed2:

Looks to me like BB is getting ready to implode.

How many of the American pros can't cross the border into Canada? That's a good starting question as to why its probably in the United States.

If you read through it all, you should see that Barry has been let go. If you read all of his previous posts, you'll see why he was let go.

I suspect new info will be revealed soon, maybe to throw a little light on the subject.

Well, this is where I'm not informed, I guess. I did not know there was a problem with Americans traveling to Canada or vice versa.

One common theme I do see on this thread is that the majority of proponents for BB are Canadians, which is why I questioned why BB didn't make its home in Canada to begin with.

For many of the reasons stated on this thread and elsewhere, much more eloquently than I can, Vegas may have been a bad choice for BB to make as its home. Too many distractions for BB. People going to Vegas, even pool players, might elect to go elsewhere than sweat a BB match. That's my point.

Personally, I believe those who are promoting BB or who are a proponent for it would serve BB best by refraining from the back-and-forth colloquy on AzBilliards. As I'm sure you know, since I have read your posts on a variety of topics in the past, AzBilliards may not be the best place to showcase something. Too many naysayers, Debbie Downers, trolls, Nervous Nellies, and uninformed public who may not have all the facts. They post their thoughts, and in the end, it doesn't paint a pretty picture for BB. And the proponents are in a continuous defensive posture instead of highlighting the good points of BB.

In this regard, silence is golden. Let BB's actions speak louder than words on this forum is what I'm trying to say, I guess. :p

If you'd been following along with the discussion that's been taking place here for the last few months you might have wanted to read your statement to yourself just one more time.

Everyone here wants pool to succeed. Everyone here wants any venture that is going to pump life, energy, and money into the game to flourish. But no one wants a half-baked, carny version of the game that appears to be operating with smoke and mirrors, no visible PR plan, and spokesmodels talking out of both sides of their mouths. And you definitely do not want to come here and bad mouth the locals.

Whatever damage BB has suffered to date here has been self-inflicted. You appear to be continuing down that same path.

Sounds like BB treated Barry the same way they treated Jimmy Wych.
 
I am curious to know how the players feel about it. Think about it this way, your company says to you "hey we have a new position for you, but you need to move across the country for it. The job starts in November and pays $1000.00 per week." You say "sounds good I will start packing and looking for a place to stay out there now." You get your place and now they say "well we are running into a few minor problems we are shooting for December maybe January now." Now its almost MAY and the guys that got a place to stay are paying to not live there as they still have their other jobs on the east coast they have to continue to do to pay bills. Not to mention the fact that they were told that this would have to be their #1 priority and their other sources of income would not be allowed (tournys). I would be a little upset if I were them for sure. As a fan I feel like I am dealing with a politician that is saying that I have a new tax plan coming out soon, but it never comes. Now I was kind of pumped about the idea of a new pro league coming to promote pool, but now it has become a joke with odds on it!

There are only a couple players out in Vegas for the past months for Bonus Ball and I believe they are or will be taken care of. All players were given $3000 for coming out right before Christmas. You are putting out misinformation and bad information like this and the posting of many on here makes me feel like to get drunk so I can dumb myself down to just listen to this crap. Where did you get that they cannot play any tournaments? For the past few months that is all they have been doing like always and when Bonus Ball starts they still can make the choice to do that but not get paid for that day their team plays.

You have made some valid points about uninformed people who are assuming too much and know too little. Bonus Ball was silent besides Barry coming on here for a good while, myself and others agreed it was not worth coming on here to get in an argument because we know that action means more and we are close to starting and it will speak for itself based on its success or failure. We even got people who ridiculed us not coming on here and saying a word, haha.

There are some on here who will say my opinion is biased but so are some of their opinions because they have an interest in seeing it fail because business wise it might hurt them or who they are associated with. Pool politics and cliques are pretty interesting to see and so are the reasons they support things and bash others.

That is how it was relayed to me by one of the players. Maybe I heard him wrong, but the way it sounded was it was BB 1st which is why they were making fun of the one who opted not to play on a team.....was it Mike? That was several months ago I am not 100%. But either way these guys have been on a roller coaster ride for a while dont ya think?

Dude. Questions like...

"When is the start date?"

"Does he have the million dollars?"

"Why is there no information being put out besides random uncoordinated forum posts?"

"Why can Bonus Ball not meet a deadline?"

are not bashing. You guys can hole up in the studio and tell each other how much everyone is against you but it doesnt make people asking legit questions out to get you. So far that I know of Pat Fleming, Jimmy Wych and Mark Griffin all offered to help with Bonus Ball at some point. All have been blown off. If all the "cliques" in pool were so against Bonus Ball how come so many people so well established in the industry offered their help?

I believe they are being very careful of announcing a start date but will soon.

I do not know this and would not say unless I saw it with my own eyes but its not my business, it is the players business and they have a committee that represents them.

We realized the forum as much as I love it is not always a positive force and its the same trolls and bashers who come into those threads and tear the information a part. There is a WPBL Facebook page with plenty of pictures and updates.

The easy answer was an itchy trigger finger and a crooked construction crew so besides the delays months ago I do not believe another will be announced unless its 100% this time.

We do not think everyone is against us but we know the ones who are and its obvious because its the same small group of like minded people but it has many supporters also who are not paid to support it but are fans of pro pool regardless of the game. I am not sure about what happened with Pat Fleming, I think Bonus Ball wanted to have a fresh video guy in the industry and from the products that Nathan has put out, production wise its the best pool has seen. Jimmy Wych as far as I know had unrealistic demands but then again I do not know the whole story there either. I do not know how Mark tried to help Bonus Ball at all, never heard about that either other then the tables that were rented from him. Besides Mark, were they offering help or offering to fill a position to get paid for a job and just not hired?

I think you are making the mistake of thinking just because someone isn't cheerleading they are against it. Most people are completely indifferent when it comes down to it other than a passing opinion on how badly its been handled so far.

I am curious who you think is against it ? To me if someone is against something that means they actively work to see it injured in some way. Only people I see actively hurting Bonus Ball are the ones steering the ship. People commenting on the situation are simply doing what people do: Talking about current events in an industry they have an interest in.

As to Jimmy, Mark and Pat whether they offered their services for a fee or advice for free I would consider that being friendly to an entity. Pretty sure you,Nathan and Dave are not spending time on this thing simply out of the love of Bonus Ball. What makes the other guys any different from you ? If Mark was against Bonus Ball he could do some things to make it difficult. Same for the other two guys. Yet they don't. I could stir up shit if wanted to but I don't I just talk about what I see happening.

Lenny, it seems like you are "deflective arguing" by pointing fingers at others. I just don't see what good comes out of you, Nathan or others that are involved/invested in BB participating in this type of thread, especially if it's really close to the being started.

It is the same people who are on the forums with smart ass remarks all the time speaking negative about nearly every aspect of it, they are in every thread or create the threads, we do not create them. I am not helping Bonus Ball, I work for them plain and simple, if I help someone out it is usually for free or otherwise I call it work, I have done more than I signed up for which is fine too. If I did not like pool and the people I am working with I would not even bother because I am not hugely money motivated or greedy, people who know me well enough know that and its obvious from my time here on the forums I am giving to pool more than I take. I see people bashing it who have not watched the videos and never played the game ever. I would not come over to your place and man a camera saying I am going to help you out and then tell you the price on it.

I play pool regularly and love the game, I am not sure how much you play if at all but maybe since I have played a little bit of Bonus Ball I have seen the qualities of the game and feel some others will too even if its not for everyone but its in my top 3 of favorite games along with 8 ball and one pocket. I am not saying this is going to make pool players rich or anything like that, it very well could go one season and be done for all I know but its something new. I just hear people wanting to repackage the same crap and put it out there with the same old game plans and same people involved. I do hope the WPBL will also have other events in the downtime (off-season) such as challenge matches, 8 ball, 10 ball and other games played in maybe a team or pro singles tournament format.

This is the closest thing to something I had ideas of awhile back but just a different game. I thought teams would be great and in Las Vegas too because of cheap flights, rent and other stuff to do for someone coming into town which is an easier sell to people taking vacation time. I just thought 8 ball would have been the game just like IPT did but with a twist, it would have been rotation 8 ball or call it countdown 8 ball. The game would have been with a shot clock and if I got solids or stripes we play countdown to the 8 ball which wins, balls ran in rotation which means one guy is trying to run from 1-7 and win making the 8 and the other guy shoots backwards 15-9 and wins making the 8.

I am not going to lie, if Bonus Ball is successful there will be some happy people in Vegas celebrating and laughing about all the haters on the forums and I know their is the flip side to that coin too. I would like one day to say I was a part of an organization that really turned it around for pro pool. If you and Mark or anyone else is curious about what is going on there then why not just stop by?, I believe Nathan posted an open invite.
