How about this shot by Alcano ?

It's not a kick, it's not a double kiss, it's just a straight shot to the corner. It's a good shot, but not anything amazing. It's an open shot to that pocket. I guess I just don't understand all the amazement about it.

I'm with this. The shot down the rail wasn't available.

And if you happen to shoot with systems, I think this one becomes more available for shooters rather than balking.

Freddie <~~~ has shot this one out of necessity

what about this cut by busty on the 9ball at 34:35

Again, it's an open shot. Thin cut, but very make-able. No pro should be ducking or even banking on that shot. I'm a nothing nobody, and if I miss that, I'm upset with myself. Yet, the trend today seems to be to duck on anything that is not 30 degree shot or less.??

The hardest part about shots like that is if you left it for yourself, or if your opponent left it. If you left it, you are disappointed that your position was off, and you have to clear your mind about being off a little. You have to approach the shot with full confidence. Goes back to that old saying- If I can see it, I can make it!

Try it, and you will know.
You guys are right. I set it up on my table this morning. The cut angle isn't as extreme as I originally thought. And if he did kick it, the CB would it the OB pretty full which would not make the CB travel as far.

So you guys are right, I'm wrong. It was a straight cut shot, with lots of low-right. Still a tough shot.

jsp <~~~ wrong before and will be wrong again :o

You may have been wrong, but you learned a new shot!

A great shot by a great player! Very few would have attempted that shot. For those who think it was easy, they can get action with me, all day and all night!

If it is cheap enough I will give it a go, I can learn more from getting beat by some champion then beating on someone who is helpless. :)
ouch!

i agree, i'd love to have been in your shoes for that action.

That is the funny thing that these pros come into the poolrooms and people are either in awe, scared to play or just too damn nitty. If you can get a champion to play you some even one pocket for $10-$20 a game then I say why not. My buddy makes it a point to take his earnings from beating guys below him and playing top players, I used to think he was stupid as he had no shot but the experience and memories are priceless.

thats what i do, i'll play anyone of them and give it all i got doin it. I aint scared, I always took a piece of the $ I won from easy games and fired it at better players, back in the day that was the ONLY way to get lessions, I still step up and take the worst of it sometimes, how else can person get better? i'm not gonna donate a dime either, but i'll get up to play. Have many times. we think alike on this....and most other things too.

The shot is not extremely difficult. It looks more impressive because he was close to the side rail. Ronnie should make that 8/10 times, but in this case he shit the ball in. It did double kiss but he did not intend for it to. He made the shot and got the exact shape he was playing IN SPITE of the fact that he inadvertently caught the kiss.

Playing against much better players to improve is just something better players came up with to get the fish to play them  Now if they're actually explaining things to you in between racks, that's a different story.

I do like to play stronger competition, especially if it's cheap. However, I do it more to see where I stand. If I can't beat a certain player, then I go back to the practice table, and play him again after a bit.

Not really, it is a fact that if you play better players then you will improve, I do not really need to even have them speak but just watch what they are doing. You just need to see how you hold up to the pressure of someone who will really punish you for a mistake and learn to make less errors. I am not one to donate unless its a champion pro player and its cheap enough for me though and if they or the nits on the rail think I am a sucker then so be it. I am willing to pay some money for experiences in life.

You cannot put a price on memories of playing great players because one day they will be gone. I regret not playing Ronnie Allen when I had the chance, I am sure it would have been worth losing a $100 to him playing some cheap games. Do not get me wrong there are only a couple guys out there on my list of people I must play in my life just to say I played them, some players do not interest me at all. Next time I see Efren I am playing him even too if its cheap. Are you saying you would not play Efren a race to 3 in one pocket or 7 in nine ball for $50-$100?

Great post and because I'm in that mood.... Most of the time AZers disagree with most of the more experience players, it seems they're posting based on 2D forum crap.

This one was one of those obvious ones that if you're any kind of experienced, you know this shot. If you don't know this shot, put effort on the table not on disagreeing on the board.

Of course I'd play any top pro if the price was right, but it would be more for the story I'd have to tell afterwards.

Yes and no. If it's a guy whose speed is close enough that you can execute the shots you see, playing cheaply (as long as you're not considered an ATM) is the absolutely cheapest way for you to learn while he's not giving it away for free.

If you don't play for something, you're not going to see the game he has.

LOL at all the internet proffesionals here on AZB, i'm amazed by the amount of bs that run through this forum sometimes

it's a great shot by a great player, in a tournament, agains rodney morris,

sure, get on a table, place the balls and try the shot, you will make a certaind percentage of it, if you practice, but in that kind of situation most of yall (including me) would s*** your pants and miss easy shots, blaming it on the cloth, pockets, noise, fatigue etc..

shots like that, his composure, dedication, knowledge, and many many more great shots in his arsenal made him a champion, and bs-ing about it on forums, like that shot is easy, just makes you look stupid

anyway, that's just my opinion, equally irrelevant as yours
