This thred was not intended to find out which mechanic has or IS the biggest dick. I thought if I post questions in this forum called "Talk To Mechanic" not "Talk About A Mechanic" some of the BEST mechanics in the country would step up. WELL? I am very good at my craft and crave all the knoledge I can get my little mind around.
Here are my questions, any takers???
Why does three sided carom rubber have control fabric on the bottom/ flat side?
Because the carom balls are bigger than pool balls, therefore they create more compression in the nose of the cushions when being banked hard, the harder the bank the more the compression, the more the compression the more the bank angle can shorten up because at the same time tbe compression of the cushion is taking place, the nose of the cushion is being raised up causing the cushion to to pinch the ball, slowing down the speed of rebound. What the canvas control strip is used for is to not allow the rubber of the cushion to raise up as much because of its lack of wanting to stretcb with the cushion nose, thereby holding the cushion nose to more of a level height while the bank is taking place in order to create a more consistant, repeatable bank.
Why not Diamond black rubber on the 9 footers?
Because that was Gregs choice, as he feels the Artemis cushions are a better choice cushion overall for the 9fts, but the cost difference don't justify installing them on the rest of the Diamond tables.
Why does Artemis sell a K66 profile bubber with fabric on the top/ round side yet thier K55 profile has fabric on the flat side/ the bottom like the carom rubber?
Because the K66 is designed cor playing pool, and because its a soft cushion, the canvas control fabric mounted on the topside of the cushon helps to overcome the softer cushion by making the compression of the cushion stiffer as a way to help maintain the speed and banks to be more consistant. The Artemis Intercontinental K55 profile cushion is a cushion designed for playing straight rail billiards, in which a lot of speed off the cushions makes it to hard to group the balls together, so its a thicker made cushion, designed to slow the balls down. Diamond decided to tdy this cushion on their 9fts to see if they could use them instead of all the shit cushions available to use today. Once Diamond redesigned their rails to lowe down the back of the cushions to create a more level approach to the nose of the cushions, they found out that they played better than any cushions they've ever tried in the past, so they've stuck with them ever since.
If this post sounds like I'm calling you all out it's because I am. If I had the answers I wouldn't be here.
Thanks Again... Dave
