Gabe Owen Thread Removed? Mod please at least give me your thoughts

Yeah, but you own a MERCEDES!

I gotta admit, it's a comfy, quick drive to and from work each day. But, last year's trip down to SoCal with a camping stop in Yosemite didn't leave much room for anything else. A Prius with that ridiculous 50mpg looks more tempting each month. I'll keep working on my banks for the next time I drive down that way. I'll drop my girl off in Hermosa for a few hours.

These Chinese are taking it to a different level now. You can buy them for pennies.

I was thinking about the guy on the East Coast that made the fake $5 Casino coins that they could never separate because they were too good.

I remember that episode of, uhh.. Cons, Crooks and Cheats or something like that. Man, was that ever impressive.

Go get you some Matzo Ball soup for your cold!

I've never had the stuff. From the sounds of it, it must be good?

I had a CLK 350 coupe and it was a little too small (short wheel base) to be a good ride on long trips. An E or S class sedan is much better for highway driving. I'm on my fourth Lexus now. There the best!

I guess I started the biggest and maybe the best coffee thread in AZ history.

Does anyone know what happened to other coffee threads?

Go stink up some other thread if you want to stay on topic. Dude. :rotflmao:

Just bought Lexus Hybrid, Jay

Without a doubt best car I ever owned. Can't hear the engine at all, great comfort, mileage, so many good features it is unreal.

I thought about trying to trade up to a used S class or something, but until I'm making a little more, it wouldn't be very practical. My dad got a SC300 and ES400 when they came out back in, umm, 2000 or so. Good cars and the SC was a speedy little thing. I think we did about 3000 miles in about a week on the trip with the C230k and it was pretty comfortable, or at least for our standards.

No idea. My memory isn't too good on most things, though.

One of my favorites for a while up here was the Black Tiger Mocha from Coffee People up here. That packed a punch. I don't drink too much coffee any more.. my old Mr Coffee doesn't do small batches too well and wasn't worth the cleaning. I just get a canned cold coffee once in a while nowadays when I'm going to have a busy day at work or when I'm hungover. ;)

Time to head home!

If the customer is the one giving the money to you, for the product that you sell, then as long as you understand what they want, they got it right (and should not be corrected)... no matter what order they put their words in. Until Starbucks posts ordering instructions in the store, then there is no "method" or "ordering process."

We don't want a Soup Nazi pouring our coffee...

NEXT!

Sorry to offend. We never correct them (maybe some people do, but not at my store). Still doesn't mean they said it right.

This has been a very interesting thread. :grin-square:

The sentence was verbatim from a transcript, which is why the adjectives are not in the correct order. ;)

You are absolutely correct, though, that the order of the adjectives is wrong, technically speaking. The word "grande" should always be *first* so that the Starbucks employee knows which cup to pick up, i.e., grande, tall, or venti. :)

In this regard, "grande" means "large," and so "large" would have a comma inserted before it. Example: She bought a large coffee. [No comma needed.] She bought a coffee, large. See the comma insertion before "large" when used in this manner?

The correct puncutation for words spoken verbatim is, as follows:

She ordered a daily double-shot soy milk latte, grande.

Quiz coming up at noon if this thread is still alive. :p

You are mostly right. The size always comes first, unless the drink can be served hot or cold (like a mocha or latte). If they want it cold, the word "iced" comes before the size.

I should also mention that a grande latte already has two shots of espresso, so no need for the word "double".

Anyone try this expensive coffee...must be good.mmmmm

funny how compressors die on the hottest day-that's automatic :(

it was in july of 97 or 98 i cant recall the year, i lived in that house for 2 years and was ALL-IN with a biz, no $ and working 24/7. think 98 was the year, that was the hottest day i ever saw in Vegas-nothing close. in 05 it hit 121 one day in my car, but it wasnt close to that day in 98

You hit the nail square on the head, it was 1997 for sure. I was lucky i had a guy from the Mirage who worked in engineering and was good with AC,s and he rescued me.
And the compressor only cost him $300 and he only wanted to charge me $100 for the labor, i said no way and threw him $200 for the labor.
Theres so many rip off artists here with the heating and cooling business i was making sure this knew i would do right by him.
