Strange you mentioned the AC compressor thing. Mine quit this evening. Was only 88 here in Rochester. The units only five years old. The previous unit ran for nearly forty years!

Your AC guy wasn't named Chris was he? If so he did the house in Vegas a few years ago. Same story.

No, he was an older guy named Don. The thing is i would have kept using him but the parts places all of a sudden stopped selling to the independants without a license. The bigger companys were beefing about them, imagine that, the guys who are robbing everyone in sight are beefing because some small guys are trying to make a few bucks.
I did wind up using a reputable company who i will use again here in the future if need be, if you want their name, let me know.
Also, there are all kinds of compressors from the ones the builders use, which arent very good to the big names which have different levels. Im no expert at all but i learned a little. Your problem may be a capacitor, hopefully which is no big deal or the fan motor went out which is like $250-$300 at most. I hope thats the case.

You really need to learn more about the governing Forum's rules that Mr. Wilson issued, not the version posted by Jerry Forsyth. The Moderators have sole discretion as to what is allowable or permissible with any thread topic or post.........it's not a debatable point either............the Moderators have the final say and keep in mind the owner/operator of the Forum is at liberty to do anything he/they chooses to do regardless of how any member(s) feel about the matter at hand............................................Nuf said 'bout that!

I am not familiar with Quick Check. I will definitely check that up next time I drive up North. We may be going upstate NY later this year, so I will keep my eyes open! Thanks for the tip! :smile:

Oh, I just thought of something that will REALLY, REALLY help. Go to a grocery store or somewhere they sell tea, and get the THROAT COAT or BREATHE EASY tea. It is organic, no caffeine, but it really does help if you have a sore throat or cold. Trust me on this one. You will be glad you did.

Best car I've ever had is a Volvo, and I have owned five of them. Seats are extremely comfortable for road trips, good on the back. The front-wheel drive allows me to drive up mountains of snow, while all the SUVs and trucks slide and spin, getting stuck. My Volvos climb mountains like a mountain goat.

Oh, best of all, I have four coffee cup holders in my Volvo, two in the front and two in the back for guests. :grin-square:

I used to get a grande triple-shot skinny latte with one pump of sugar-free vanilla and whipped cream. They know me so well at my neighborhood Starbucks that they start making the drink when I walk in the door. By the time I pay for it, my drink is ready.

I like having clout at my local Starbucks. They treat me well! :smile:

I'm sipping my Pleasant Morning Buzz coffee from Whole Foods right now. Man, it's the nuts. Best coffee on the planet, bar none. My brother loves it, but they don't have a Whole Foods in Palm Springs where he lives, so he has it shipped to him.

Oooh, a Ferrari. Too fast for this goat-roper. I'm into safety and comfort, these days.

I remember running into Ted Harris at a pool tournament in, I think, Pennsylvania somewhere. He saw Keith and me get out of my Volvo stationwagon, and he asked me, "Why on earth do you drive a stationwagon?" thinking I should drive an SUV or a truck, I guess. He said stationwagons were for old folks. :embarrassed2:

But then I ran into Sweden's Marcus Chamat in Vegas, and he asked Keith if we could give him a ride back to the Venetian from the pool room. When he saw I was driving a Volvo, he got all excited. Apparently, in Sweden, Volvo is number one.

So, Jerry, what do you drive? I have you pegged for either an energy-saving Prius or a utilitarian small truck. :)

I'm a Utilitarian. I grew up as a Methodist, but converted several years ago.
Utilitarian's believe that God created the universe in a small shop behind his house. :smile:

No, I have never driven a large car. I started out as a kid racing class 'C' sports cars and I need to be low to the ground to feel safe. Every time I get in a pick-up or SUV I feel like every corner is a threat.

So my cars are a 2003 Miata and a 1997 Acura CL. Why such old cars? Because there is so much money in pool websites! :)

Oh, and I do not drive much anymore. In the last year we logged a total of 4,000 miles. When I lived in Dallas we did 25,000 a year just getting around but here there is nothing to go to anyway. Our local newspaper prints children's birthdays as front-page news. So I stay home and pound this keyboard all day.

I hear you. That's me now. I had a 2004 Volvo with 59,000 miles on it. Keith and I drove from here to Vegas and back, up and down the East Coast.

I traded it in for a brand-new 2007 Volvo, and as of the time of this writing in 2013, I have 11,000 miles on it. Needless to say, that's all I do is bang pages on a keyboard all day. :embarrassed2:

Older cars are better: No monthly payments. ;)
