No Bonus Ball live stream???

I will pay if there a money back satisfaction guarantee.

If they dont blow the next couple weeks out for free to show they have things figured out I think they are simply nuts. It will cost them almost nothing as thats exactly what they will make on PPV if they don't prove they can do better than tonight.

Working 20 hour days and 137 hour weeks sounds macho but it means someones planning was dogshit. It also means on game day your crew is wore out with four full production days in front of them. They have had gear there for months, you dont need a completed building to work on the backend of a streaming set up. If I was the guy paying the bills I would be beyond hot.

Apologies from everyone at the WPBL we had anticipated a great turn out to our opening match, but not a turn out so great that it would crash our server at over 10,000 viewers. Thank You so much. As an appreciation to all our fans that could not watch uninterrupted tonight we will be offering the balance of this weekends matches online viewing for FREE. Today's match will be archived for later viewing.

At least they will be offering more free matches. Now the question is whether or not we will be able to watch them ;)

No real choice on this one, if they are to recover. I imagine Nathan and Lenny are feeling pretty sick right now.

Players and announcers will have the rules down pat by the end of week two. It's like one pocket, where there are pretty standard moves you play in specific situations, only here you have to say something out loud when you do it ("continuation shot" and something else that I forget).

The good is that the game does force a lot of complex shots and the pace is nice.

I called InMotion Hosting (the provider of the error message) and asked them to contact their customer due to the importance of tonight's match, but it was a no go. They said the owners have to call them.

Oh well, I shouldn't have tried to get involved. I've made that mistake before. :)

Good luck guys, I hope we get to see the second half.

Just saw this on my FB feed. 10K viewers??? Ive never seen more than I think 1600 or so before on the really popular free streams.

As expected.

Allow me to translate:

"Our failure to plan for possible success produced total failure."

That is if you believe that number means 10,000 people all tried to watch at the same time. I think its bullshit and a way to CYA for a shitty plan.

10K simultaneous viewers is about five times what I have ever seen on any free feed. Does anyone here really believe 10,000 people know what bonus ball is and knew when and where to watch it?

Haha, at least I'm getting some entertainment tonight. You're killing me.

:)

I'm glad to have been of some usage. It was pretty apparent early on that this was going to be a night of technical issues, so we might as well have some fun with it. *****ing doesn't do much to help.

You played your part as well. It was fun. Thanks.

If it really was an overload of viewers that caused the issues, how would that get fixed in a day? Do they just ask their service provider for more bandwidth? I don't know anything about streaming or hosting websites, etc. Is it that simple, or do they have to go to a whole other service provider that has more available capabilities? In which case how can they do that in one day?

At 10 bucks per viewer for the week-end, thats like pissing away 200,000 dollars!!!!!!!!!

Wow................wow..............and wow.

Wait till Stanley Ho gets ahold of it and you got a billion chinamen watching at 10 a pop.

I'll suck Cartman's balls if they had 10k viewers. Total bullshit.

The reason you use Ustream or similar providers for free feeds is that even with all hiccups that come with them they have ridiculous backbones in place to handle traffic. When you pay for streaming the provider is supposed to be able to scale to meet demand. That gets expensive though with large numbers. In a PPV situation that doesnt matter because if you have large bandwidth demand you have the money to cover it from people buying the PPV. I would LOVE to have a $20,000 bandwidth bill one day.

Its a no brainer to spin a screw up by saying "OMGZ the demand was so high it crashed the whole interwebzzzz."

WPBL - World Professional Billiard League We are working with our hosting company and our streaming provider to improve everyone's experience. Things will be much smoother after tonight and the recording (in 1080p) has been glitch-free, so the archived recording of tonight's match will be super smooth.

I don't think that they had 10,000 people. But they have been hitting FB pretty hard and all the pros who ARE NOT HERE have been promoting BB to their fans so it's possible that they got well over the 2k that we have seen - that said I totally agree that there is NO WAY ON EARTH that the amount of viewers for a pool match should have crashed the system. Sorry but people host live events all the time with far more concurrent viewers than 10,000.

With all that's gone into this there is no excuse for anything but a flawless feed.

Glad they are getting it worked out.

I'm giving up for tonight.

Gnite all.

That's what i was expecting to happen, they can't charge till it's almost perfect stream and they need the goodwill to try and attract the ragers back a few more times.

Terrible Move on their part. (again)...They need to implement the PPV, as soon as possible...That will cut down the viewership,
by at least 98% (est.) ..VIOLA !..server problem solved !

They screwed the pooch, I won $525 tonight and bet a season pass on the bonus ball...well I won, I let him out for a $100 instead of the membership money....I'm over them now. I think the game is a cool ass game too.
