Man Dennis almost lost his match with Wu for unexpected foul, Wu left him a jump shot, and before he takes it he practiced his stroke at next table with an OB; he was immediately fouled before he shot, and Wu was given a ball in hand; boy Dennis was mad, almost lost his composure; but got lucky Wu hang the 4 and Dennis got another life!! If he lost we will never hear the end of it??

I'm stunned this has happened before. I should have taken a snapshot of it when it was happening. Anyone else ever see someone called for taking a practice shot to begin with (that's also a foul)?

In this case, IMO there is no gray area. He purposefully jacked up and and shot a practice shot for the jump shot he was about to take, even though he didn't bear down and just stabbed the practice shot (maybe out of frustration that he got hooked). I wish he hadn't cuz it made an entertaining match and one of the best views of a TAR stream a little sour at the end.

And btw, on the iPad in that view, every ball was more discernible except for when the 5 ball got closer to the near corner. Great job Andy Chen and Ken Shuman!!!!

Freddie <~~~ and of course Justin

This would not be an "unexpected" foul to anyone that is familiar with the rules.

Tunica controversey...

Yeah Orcullo changed shafts to jump a ball several times at Tunica when jump cues were disallowed but Kenny Schuman never called it on him. His table manners are a little slippery in my opinion.

Lmao

Starting to wonder about this Dennis!?!? Wtf would make him think he can go practice jump shots in the middle of a match before shooting his shot (jump shot) at the table?

Switching shafts in Tunica? Damn...seems like this guy has a few moves of his own!

I'm looking forward to seeing it, if its available. If he just took a stroke in the direction of the other table, that's one thing. If he set up a ball on the other table and/or placed his bridge hand down and took a practice stroke, that's pretty dumb, and shouldn't be controversial. Was it debatable at all whether it really should have been considered practicing?

I'm still trying to figure out how this is an unexpected foul. Dennis should know the rules better then we do. And then he got mad about it. That's crazy:confused:

I thought the whole idea behind "No practicing at neighboring table" is so you don't shark
your opponent. But in this case it was his turn. He coulda done warmup strokes on his own table
instead.

Did he use a ball? And when you say with his "OB" you mean a jump cue I assume, not just a bare shaft?

I know players have to be aware of all the rules but somehow I doubt they call this one much
in the phillippines. So he may have never encountered it til now.

So... Did the rules say you couldn't change to a different shaft to jump with? No jump cues to me means you can use the short cue not that I can't change to a different shaft to jump with

Practicing on the next table while your opponent is shooting is just a d!ck move. It is not allowed in most tournaments. Practicing a downward hard hit into a ball on the next table right before attempting a jump shot would be down right cheating and an obvious foul.

Aw come on guys it cant be Dennis fault he is the most honest pool player ever, he would never do anything like this on purpose, this must of happen to him before, so dont blame it on Dennis , he couldnt and wouldnt do anything such, after all he is the best pool player alive!

He did not practice while Wu was shooting... so we can check that off the list..

He looked at the shot ... put together his jump cue and hit down on a ball that was on the table were his case was sitting.

Ken (from the booth 50 feet away) started yelling to the official in the area NOT watching the match that Dennis had fouled. Wu had said nothing although he was sitting watching everything. So, yes by the rule Dennis had fouled.

My question can anyone in the room call a foul? Wu did not (must not have known the rule either, although he is a pro). The official on-site said nothing but Ken called the foul. Obviously in his capacity as official or TD can but it was strange from the booth.

When watching a stream can I call the TD and say I saw a foul and no one called it? (I mean Golf Does IT... and everyone wants pool to be like golf)

Where are the lines drawn? don't know...

Being the best pool player alive is debatable but being the best player at this time is just fitting. After winning the 1-pocket chamipionsip over Corey Duel in a long drawn out battle he still has the nerve and drive to defeat Uchigaki, Van Boening, Dang Jin-Hu, Ko Pin Yi, and Wu Qiaqing in succession in the 10 Ball tournament which immendiately follows the 1- pocket. Those are world class top rated players, and doing it almost without rest of relief. The 10 ball is still ongoing, whatever, imho, he earned the best player title right now.

Seems Dennis is becoming nitter and nitter every week!! Pull your shite together Dennis you're a godda*n pro already!!!! Act like one!!! This isn't the flipping Philippines!!!!

Okay so Dennis fouls due to hitting a ball on another table. TD calls it and other guy gets BIH.

What am I missing? Foul happened BIH was rewarded.

We all have made mistakes or done something we know not to do. Things slip our minds.

Good job by the TD IMO Dennis or anyone else this would happen to doesn't have the right to get upset but that doesn't stop most from getting upset in the heat of the moment.

Ken is the tournament director right? So he can call fouls if he sees them. There are a few poeple on here who train the refs and may know better than me, but I think that you don't have to be called over to watch a possible foul to call one. If an official is just walking around, and he sees a foul (like "no practacing" which happened here), I think he is withing his rights to call it.

In this case, Wu may not have really been paying attention to what Dennis was doing or did not think it was anything bad.
