First of all, very nice video and always good to never forget.
I'm not sure why this wouldn't be aloud but if it did get moved, wouldn't it
just go to the non-pool related section?Anyways, thanks for the video.Takecare

Smokey is a top shelf friend I haven't spoke to in way too long, pm me your number. My phone lost almost 20% of my contacts recently , I'm living in la now most of the time. JA told me at Christmas to say hello, he asked if we had spoke-that was in December gosh time goes by fast

I am always the first to support Military, Police, or Firefighter memorials and such. But this might sound bad, I 100% see where this video can be denied and why. If everybody posted every tribute video of someone they knew or their best friends brother, etc...This forum would be completely over-run with them. With this many people on this forum and all the "trolls" and everybody posting legit tribute videos like this one, the Admins are forced to keep a pretty strict guideline to keep it in order and keep it "pool" related.

It 100% deserves a pass

This thread gets a pass from JoeyA and a smart salute.
Thanks Smokey for a great reminder.

I have great respect for the video, but it does raise a question for me regarding this post. Are some people afraid to post in the NPR section for fear that nobody will see it? I see tons of posts on the NPR section.

Just curious as the poster seemed to be well aware of an NPR section, but still chose to post it on the main forum pleading for it to not be in the NPR.

Just curious as to why. I am not offended by it being in the main forum, just curious.

Diamond 69 Is Right

When you start making exceptions, regardless of the reason, you create Pandora's box. There is a section for NPR posts as Diamond 69 mentioned.
You can post this thread adding one piece of chalk for sale, even used chalk, and place it in the For Sale section where it will get lots of views. .
Heck, you can post this thread anywhere and I bet the Moderators won't do a thing.

I've been singled out and criticized by some AZ hypocrites on the Forum for reminding folks about ivory pool cue confiscation by US Agencies. I mentioned what happened to another AZer who posted about this in the Cue Gallery section. So I created a post in the WTB/FS section and got hammered by these clowns. Post this thread in the correct section to keep everyone happy.....and then post it again adding a used piece of chalk for sale in the wanted to sell section to keep all the trolls happy.....and then post it right here as many times as you want......go for maximum exposure with this thread.

I posted this on 3/21....

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=313090

It has had less than 100 views and no comments. I know a lot of us venture to that room, but I guess I'd rather see Smokey's link over here for this exact reason.

There are many items on the Main Forum that don't get many views or comments as well. Just like with a book, the title would be the first thing that grabs someone.

Like I said, I have no issue with it since it doesn't happen often. But if more and more people start thinking it's ok because their thread really needs to be read, then it's no longer a billiard forum.

D69,

I thought you were just curious...just saying.

It's all good.

I am just curious. Which created further discussion. You answered my curiosity on people's concerns about the NPR not getting appropriate views. That then raised my curiosity of why you didn't get many views. Could have been the title did not generate much interest. Not criticizing your title at all. But a quick observation of the NPR page one shows

Obama a joke gets 750,000 views.
Who says chunky aint sexy gets 55,000 views
Even Trayvon's Parents gets 2,000 views.

So something in those titles generates interest. Maybe the numbers would be even higher on the Main page, but they still get their views it seems.

And yes, it is all good with you and anyone else I interact with. I'm a lover, not a fighter.:grin-square: But can also be a harmless instigator at times. But never a hater or troll.

Nice video but what does Mr. Wilson have to do with it?

The first time ok, sure

The second time around it gets weird.

With all due respect to the family of this tragedy, there is a place to memorialize this type of thing.

It's called the "cemetery"

maybe your right since you guys feel that way

i was a little ambivalent myself - but there is a wonderful thread by Rain-Man that brought it to mind, and i thought since it was more than a thousand days since i posted the original, there have been many new folks here that might appreciate it

sorry if i erred on the wrong side

all the best,
smokey

p.s. Mr. Wilson, please move this to NPR

This is definitely not pool related and whether or not there should be an exception for posting this on the Main Forum is above my pay grade.

That said, I watched this video for the second time (first was when Miles (Smokey) posted it a while back), and again, tears welled up in my eyes.

You're a good man, Miles, and obviously, so too, was this fallen soldier from Georgia. What a turnout!

As one of the signs along the route stated "Freedom Is Not Free".

imo, it deserves a pass.

Thanks!

best,

Hell no he's not right, this gentleman and many others gave there life so we can be free, that deserve the highest honor we can give them, you don't see all these whiners willing to lay down there lives for there fellow Americans.Rep to you Smokey for posting this!

I don't mind the occasional off topic thread as long as it doesn't get to the point where I gotta
hunt for pool topics in a pool forum. While this is definitely NPR,
I can see why you might not want to put it there (besides the fact that more people read the main forum).
I hear there's a lot of political arguing and nastiness in NPR.
Seems more likely to be received respectfully in this forum.

Sweet talkin' people done ran me out of town
And I drank enough whiskey to float a battleship around
But I'm leavin' this game one step ahead of you
And you will not hear me cry 'cause I do not sing the blues
