I feel like a thread to uplift is needed today!

So among the many things I love about pool, I've found a new one. My son seems to already be picking up the habit at 21 months old. I already have him standing on a chair pushing balls around the table with a jump cue! Only down side is he wasn't steady enough on the chair for me to grab a pic!!!

I love this game and as of late there is this cloud over it from all the drama of BB, or this that and the other thing going on. It's just not right IMO. All the above considered, I want to hear what or why you love pool today. NO negativity or BS drama, just why you are loving pool today!!!

best, and hope everyone can get a little positive in their day out of this thread!!!

Lol!

Do you also have a deck of cards, a beer, ash tray, and dart board near by?

This is how it was when I grew up and became a bar room athlete.

Oh...and no women allowed. I miss the old days when men were men.

That sound when you hit the center of a leather pocket with some draw, and come two rails and fall perfect for the next one.

I love that kids got to showcase their talent in Vegas over the past week as part of the BEF junior nationals.

I love that TAR made it free for those of us interested to watch.

I love that when a fellow AZB member wants to help a veteran (Rain-Man), the community comes together to do great things through their contributions.

And most of all, I love that while I'm down on my luck, I post for help in the NPR section and get so many great responses and leads from the community. It shows there are a lot of great people who want to help their fellow man in times of need!

Ladies never entered the snooker hall. Tapped on the glass and hubby would step outside and take his tongue lashing. Spittoons on each side of each table. No pool tables. Snooker only. I never played on a pool table until I was of age to enter a bar.

Rep for you! Positive threads on pool are sorely needed all the time. It's not just the
seedy stories that keep people interested but the happy ones and triumphs that will
keep people interested.

I love pool today, because my now 4 year old son likes to watch matches with me.
Can't beat that mostly quiet father-son time. He also likes to admire the beauty of a
nicely made pool cue or as he used to call them until recently P-cues. Of course
watching him enjoy pushing those colored balls around on a big table is a delight as
well and maybe just maybe he'll be part of the reason that people will consider pool a
favorable activity, sport or game to partake in and/or watch in the future.

As for why I love playing pool, it'd have to be the sound of a ball striking the pocket iron
at just the right speed, the way a well balanced cue feels as it follows through the cue
ball smoothly, the way a well struck cue ball travels across the table conveying it's
energy and spin effortlessly to the object ball causing it to take a well directed path the
the pocket or a perfectly executed safety. It's about striving for perfection and the
creativity in English, shot choice and speed. When all is flowing well, the feeling of
being in stroke(the zone) is very satisfying. It's a state of peace and grace in all given
situations on the table that all players wish to achieve or even better live in. How can
you not like that! It's also been for me, an amazing medium for easy access to the
fulfillment of my competitive needs and I hope that it remains that way for a long time.

One of the best parts of pool for me beyond the camaraderie of fellow players and
pursuers of cue stick perfection is when you help a new or struggling player with their
game. Once you've experienced being in stroke, playing well and executing well
yourself, there's absolutely nothing like seeing the expression on the face of another
player after you've help them realize they are heading there themselves. Learning to
play pool is a great way to teach anyone about appreciating and not neglecting the
small things or details in life.

Good shooting to all!

Kevin

Thanks very much!!!!

I just so sick of seeing negativity about this player or that tourny, or BB, and all the other stupid shit!!!! Don't we enjoy billiard? I start to think some people only like pool, because it gives them something to complain about....:cool::cool:

Attach a cue ball to the end of a shaft to protect cloth and feel collisions.

I watched an Accu-stats DVD with Grady Matthews and Pat Fleming playing 14.1 while I ate breakfast this morning. Great listening to them talk about playing straight pool.

I love playing Fargo alone with no purpose other than to the clear the table and try to get a better score than the rack before.
