you be the judge

yes I know the shaft is cracked, this is the real deal old Westinghouse micarta

Really stupid question, if you know about ferrules why are you asking us?

MMike

Yes, please put me in line for a foot or two of the rod, or finished ferrules, if you're selling some. Thanks!

edit: thanks for the info, Lee, much appreciated. I checked it out, and it's the older Westinghouse micarta linen-based material. Not that this isn't good ferrule material, but the old micarta that used to be cherished was paper-based and contained asbestos, like the one on Mike's cracked shaft.
Here's a thread, there probably are others in more detail:

I've got an old Bob Weir cue with yellow micarta joint and ferrules. Wow does that cue hit em well. If you can get ahold of the real old Westinghouse product, it has superior playability. Not sure what health risks prompted it to be pulled from the market in the first place, but were it available, I would be buying it.

As far as I know there is not one big time pro player today that plays with ivory ferrules. If they thought that it was the best material they would play with it. JMHO

Elephants won't pay them and they don't work on a Predator for the 'big time' pros. There are some 'small time' pros that use them though.
