Hi all,

I am thinking about getting rid of all my old tapes. I hate to throw them out, but don’t know what to do with them. Right now they are all boxed up in storage. I don’t have a list, but do know that I have most of the 2000 US Open 14.1 and the 8 Ball invitational.

Any ideas on what to do???

Convert them to digital! Or send them to me so I can do it!

The best idea is to convert them in DVD format and to storage in your PC, or upload to youtube if those matches aren't copyrighted.

They would be, but there are tons of them on YouTube anyway.

I have all my videos on my computer, although they have video tape quality and not a crisp HD image like you see now online. Copying a VHS tape to DVD won't get you a DVD quality video hehe, which is a shame because some very nice matches are almost unwatchable due to sound issues hiss or tracking.

Put them up for sale on ebay or on here, or just give them away, maybe donate to the library or the local pool hall to play them on the TVs.

If you have matches that have been converted to DVD already, then they're not worth much,
but if you have ones that haven't (or won't) get converted to DVD, then those are a different story.
Someone will want them for sure.

There was a guy on the forums who collects old videos that aren't for sale anymore,
and converts to DVD then sells 'em. I think he got a bad rap for being a 'pirate'
but I believe his focus was only on selling stuff you can't buy otherwise.
So he wasn't costing anyone money.

His name on here (before banning) was netwrkz2000, and I think he has ebay listings
and his email is netwrkz2000 at hotmail.com. If you can reach him, you may
have a buyer for your tapes.

If you have converted them already, offer them for sale as a package, and as is. Maybe 3 or 4 bucks each times what you have. Who knows if any are brittle and may snap. This way you waived responsibility.

If you haven't, offer them as a free trade to someone who can convert them.

How about donating them to your local senior center, or boys & girls club?

If you can convert them to dvd, do it and donate the tapes to a deserving kids group - maybe BEF Foundation (Samm Diep) would have suggestions on who may want them. If you do not care to convert them, donate them anyway.

The reaction you would get from bringing pool videos into a kid's club these days would probably be about the same as if you wanted to drop off some heroin for them.

There was one drunk lady in the place my son plays in a junior league, she was looking over the place and was amazed as to what the kids were doing there playing pool. Like the owner and us parents were training them to be future convicts or something. SHe kept asking the people sitting what the kids were doing here and why.

I think the real issue was what she was doing absolutely hammered at 3 in the afternoon on a Sunday?

Call Pat at Accu-Stats. For, I think, $6 each he'll send you the DVD version of whatever you have - as long as they are not bootlegged copies.
