On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

My side pockets are 4" on my Valley...same as the corners. I had the rails made by Ridgeback Rails. But never mind. Sometimes it's like talking to a wall on this forum. Have a good one. Johnnyt

Well, you start crap then run when it gets on YOUR shoes.

Finally, I'm playing Chris Bartram...........

On his table at his poolhall.

I looked at the table last night and the pockets are as tight as they get on a diamond.

The table is a little higher than normal. A whole inch higher than the gold crown next to it.

I really need to hit some balls on there and get used to the extra height but then again the gold crown might just be too low.

The floor is a little unlevel around that 9' diamond. Don't know why but that won't be a problem.

Players family Billiards is a real nice poolhall.

Can't wait to meet the owner

These owners in Columbus have been doing some good things here to keep pool so strong in the area.

My hats off to all of them.......

This should be a good match. i know for a fact that Chris has me underrated. I know Chris can play at a high level but I wonder how high that level is right at this time.

He's got a week to get ready.

For me it isn't all that easy. I'm pretty much out of stroke. I saw that last night when I tried to play on some tight pockets. It's tough to play enough when your doing lessons every day. If I do one lesson for about 4 to 5 hours I'm pretty much toast for the rest of the day as far as practice or action. I can win a small tourny here and there sometimes but it's tough.

It's an energy thing being diabetic.

The other part is by trying to get ready for this I'm not doing lessons this week so there goes about $1000 to $1200 income down the drain.

Plus on top of that, the expences are all still there. About $800 to $1000 for the week.

So it's not just the money when i play someone but the money I will lose trying to get ready.

No lessons and the expenses just keep coming.

So if I add up $1200 I would have made for lessons for the week and $800 expenses for the week and $1000 to play the match I really have $3000 invested to try and win $1000.

That's not a good investment even if you think it is a good bet.

Your only getting 1 to 3 on the money.

This is why road players go broke. Expenses are still there and they don't have Perfect Aim as an income. If they lose $1000 they actually lost $2000.

The that's the cold hard facts of the matter. This is why the day of the road player is done and why so many of the pros can't make it chasing the same piece of cheese at tournaments here and there.

Even on a local level these small tournys you pay $10 to get in to win $100. Get second maybe 60 and get third $10. Spend $10 to $20 in gas getting there and pretty soon there is only one person that comes out ahead. The good thing is they live there and are not paying $60 for a motel.

I'm going to do what I can do to get ready for this for sure. I still need to do some lessons. And i still need to pick my game back up with some much needed practice.

Anyway, here we go.

It's nice to see he finally has decided to play you! :p ;)

Yes

This is something I would (and will) pay to see. For whatever reason, I personally just do not have much interest in paying to watch ( or even watch period) the pros play. I'd much rather watch 2 seemingly regular(albeit higher ended) players play a little grudge match... Im in on this one..

Getting prepared today...........

Last night I played at the pool hall and got a good taste of the tight pockets.

They say they are 4 1/8. With the humidity in there they played like 3 1/2.

Got playing pretty good but I know this will be a pretty nitty match because of the difficulty with the pockets. All you need to do is put the cue ball on the rail and the OB just not in front of the pocket to play safe.

Got back to the Motel 6 in Hilliard at about 5:00AM. Got about 5 hours of sleep and got checked out and drove the 30 miles to the other side of Columbus where Players is.

Got checked into the InTown Suites and went down to do the laundry only to find someone had all the washers tied up. As soon as I would go down again they were filled up again. I finally got the clothes in the wash after about a 2 hour nap. Really needed the sleep.

Have a lesson tomorrow at 2:00 at 8 ball sports bar. Getting a haircut with my second lesson later on that night.

So no practice tomorrow. I don't want to even try to play on that table tired.

A table like this one is like having a third player in the game. Your playing against the player and then the table.

In this case the table will be tougher than the player. You really have to draw a new line of when yo play safe and when to not.

As soon as the clothes dry i will go down to Players and take on the table again. Need to tame this tiger a little before next Tuesday.

Many players like a table like this because the players they are playing try to play like they normally do. If the balls are out in the open we can both run out. But if there is any degree of difficulty it almost doubles or triples.

bottom line there is no just kind of getting down on the shot. You need to use every ounce of energy and know how to get down on every shot.

This is going to be pretty interesting to say the least. i'm assuming that Chris can't run out on this table consistently on an open rack.

I can already last night and it's just going to get better and better and better by Tuesday.

I'll be ready.

Hey there pete.............

Very nice plug placement lol:eek:

Long time no hear........

What do you think about this. I'm just doing what I did for years.

I beat allot of players that everyone thought I shouldn't play and won.

I'd put the names of the most recent ones on here but that's not my style.

Some of them have jumped on the thread. they know and they're not saying anything and that's great.

I kind of like this underdog roll. If i win it will be that much sweeter

One man a van and still on the road.

Just ran into a little speed bump here in Columbus.

Like my friend John Shuppit used to say when we were on the road together, On the hiil or running out.

Take It Down

And John, that's exactly what I plan on doing.

Gene, you seem like a good guy. I had the good pleasure of meeting chris and running around with him for a few nights, he's a good dude too. I got to first hand witness the near death of his civic after a certain someone crammed in the front seat with a car full of grown men already. While I'm not betting on you, in a weird kind of way I'm almost pulling for you. No matter what myself or anyone else says, they've got to give you props for stepping up, turning down a spot, betting your own, and playing. Something 95% of people on AZ won't do, and much more so against Chris in his hometown. So win or lose, good luck bud.

I think more people know Chris"s speed than yours. As strong as you play I don't see it as 1 sided. I see it as a good match with no one stealing.
You don't need to bark just play perfect pool and you can take it off.
I know you've played perfect pool and have plenty of heart
I think they expect you to dog it and I just don't think so myself
Good luck to you
