Matlock vs Keith

I will always defend my other half when people disseminate untruths and demean him as a pool player. In fact, I would do the same for friends.

You're a troll, and the only good thing about you coming on this thread is that you took the heat off of SakuJack. Now the spotlight is on you. That's the way you like it, right?

I defend those who are unfairly attacked, if that's what you mean. I also attack those who deserve it...

I don't see how 'class and grace' matter a lick in a gambling match, nor how an abstract notion of being a 'true champion' might equate to more success in the venues where these matches took place. I might agree about fundamentals if McCready didn't have the natural talent to render them a moot point.

If anything, McCready's strut and physical presence at the table would be a challenging thing to overcome, you must admit, at least sometimes, whereas Matlock's 'class and grace' and aura of 'championship quality' would never have any impact on Keith.

Edge to Keith, imo.

Thanks for the kind words about Keith.

What's quite sad is to read these words written by trolls, and the truth of the matter is that Dave Matlock and Keith McCready respect each other to the nth degree. They truly do.

If you were to speak to either one of them and ask about the other, you would hear nothing but praise and good words. It would be nothing like what you are reading in this thread.

Not disagreeing with you, but there is a fine line between self confidence and arrogance. True champions are born, not made. True champions don't need to strut or make themselves known to their opponents, physically or verbally.

They do the business on the table. Quietly.

We all know this isn't always the case, and Keith's talent is as natural as they come.

Another troll comment, targeting specific forum members for the sole reason to cause hurt and/or anger.

You know, I was listening to a livestream the other day at the Joss Season Finale at Turning Stone. Jerry Forsyth and Mike Howerton were commentating on a match. Somehow Keith's name came up. Mike said the first time he went to the U.S. Open 9-Ball tournament, the spectators wanted to know where two players were going to be shooting, and the two players were Earl Strickland and Keith McCready. And that's where the majority of railbirds sat in the event. Jerry then replied he would like to see Keith come back and compete in a few tournaments.

You can demean Keith McCready all you want, Pathetic Troll, but he's still a crowd favorite, always has and always will be. He's not only entertaining, but the man can play pool at a level you can only dream about. Keep on trolling.

We are entitled to discuss the pros and cons of great players, their strengths and weaknesses, both on and off the table. You can go to any sports message board in the world and you'll see people do it.

What annoys me about you is you make this personal. I understand why, but you steamroller threads with YOUR point of view, and this is fundamentally unfair. You cry foul when there is none.

We are ALL entitled to our opinion on players. Dave Matlock's friend is equally entitled to stick up for his friend as you are entitled to stick up for yours.

I agree about making comments about strengths of pool players, but there's a way to do it.

What you are doing is trolling, nothing more and nothing less.

When you were Thaiger, you selected your targets and went after them full speed ahead, much like you are doing with me in this thread.

Keith is more than a friend to me, and I will defend him until the day I die, especially against trolls like you.

If AZ has taught me anything, it's that 9/10ths of all drama player v. player or player v. billiards community, is caused by railbirds who, in spite of their lack of talent, experience, or knowledge, are nonetheless certain their opinion is the correct one, and that it must be made known!

Let fools be fools! Shakespeare knew it well.

Agree with this.

The constant labeling of other forum members as trolls is getting very tiring, too.

It's not "other forum members"; it's people like you and Pathetic Troll (Thaiger) who target another forum member and continue to engage in a back-and-forth riddled with mean-spirited comments.

Everyone, of course, is entitled to their opinions, and if opinions are stated with grace, to use Pathetic Troll's word, that's fine.

The only reply posts I have ever received from you, SakuJack, in any thread I have been on in the few years you have been a member are sarcastic, flippant, and mean-spirited comments.

So, regarding the labeling of other forum membesr as trolls, if the shoe fits . . .

Butter wouldn't melt!

Buddy, virtually all of us fall into that category - guess what, you and JAM included.

I just talked to David, and he wants to clear things up about this gaff table with the buzzer. There was nothing phony about the table, you just don't want to admit you got beat on the square. The match was 8 ahead for 2000 guaranteeing 3 sets,David won the first set,Keith won the second, then David won 3 in a row, winning a total of 6000.He went on to say that the match lasted 5 hours, and that he's in Olathe if you want to play some.

Had to wake up one more time to read this again. I'm really getting tired of it.

About Dallas, maybe David won 6,000, but I know for a fact, Will was betting 800 to 1,100 a game on the rail. I know he was betting Sonny 500, and that was just one bet of several. Does David remember that? I guess he doesn't remember that, just like he doesn't remember losing to me at the Maverick Club. Does he even remember who ran the tournament over there at the Maverick Club? I can tell you who staked me and everything.

Do you know how many times I have played for the center money and there was five or six times the amount won on the side? I stopped that after the second or third time that happened to me. I don't play for everybody else anymore. Win 4,000 and the rail wins 20,000? It's a bunch of bullshi*t. Well, that's what happened with the David game in Dallas at Sonny's private home.

And it was a gaffe table. Every time I broke the balls for hours and hours and hours, nothing went in. Very seldom I made a ball. Cueball going straight up in the air, squatting perfect, and nothing went in. David did the same thing, three and four balls fly in every game. I proved my point when we went to neutral equipment, and I don't even know if David really remembers that, but that's okay.

For David to say we played 5 hours, that's not right either. We played much longer than that. I remember sitting with Will and Weldon Rogers talking about it for weeks after that. David might have won 6,000, but we definitely lost way more than 6,000.

I'm not taking anything away from David for winning, so let's get that straight, Rusty and Clint. I just don't like guys coming on here, trying to create this bullsh*t. I've never had a problem losing to anybody. You guys want to come on here and try to start trouble talking about something that happened back 20, 25 years ago?

You want me to play David some more right now in Olathe? Just tell him I play poker now. Does he want to play some head-up? I'll play him some.

If I come out and play some pool, I will come out and play for fun. I'll try to beat somebody. Don't get me wrong, but it's not going to break the bank. I would love to do what I used to do, be in combat every day, muscle up and play anybody and everybody that walked. I would love to be able to do that again. It's not in my heart anymore. It's too much of a wearing-down operation, and there's no money in it. I can sit down at home, play my tournaments online poker, play cash games, and don't have to deal with pool detectives like yourself. That's one big reason why I'm away from pool.

If David wants to clear up anything, he can call me himself.

I am going to say that David was a great player in his prime. He had some gears, and I'm not going to ever try to take anything away from him, like you guys have for me. I respect David with all my heart, and like I said before, I hope he's doing well. And I know he is.

Jam lighten up....

I simply expressed the opinion that I think David is an all around better player then Keith. Then and now. I also suggested that we would stake David in a game. No insults were given. That is not a bad thing. Keith mentioned he has no interest in playing. So that is clear. Keith was one of the best, no one is disputing that but in my opinion, David was/is the better player and I was willing to bet on it. No one ever assassinated his character. Not one bit. There are no demigods in the pool world. I was worried about my contributions to this thread. I was worried that I was making enemies but looks like Jam is the one with the new enemies just because they stated different opinions than Jam. Jam has called me names and insulted my character but you notice I didn't do the same. See, I'm not such a bad guy-- I just wanted to stake David!!

What started this whole brouhaha on October 2nd -- BEFORE you created this thread -- was this comment you wrote: Everyone knows Matlock robs Keith. Deep down in her soul, Jam does too....

How would you expect me to react?

If you value Sakujack and Pathetic Troll's opinions, why, I think you are indeed in good company.
