Just trying offer a little objectivity, amidst all of the speculation. Because other than Justin, that's all any of us in the thread are providing.
Not sure what you are talking about here but the way some people are putting words in my mouth I want to be clear I never said Danny and John should have a fist fight.
They should have a baseball bat with nails in it and trashcan lid fight ala Escape From New York.
In all seriousness, people saying I just want to do this match for the drama dont know me very well. I have my reasons for wanting to do it. I outlined them in the OP of my offer thread.
The honest to God best thing Str8 Shots can do for the youth is to keep them out of pool rooms. Pool, if taken seriously, has zero positive effects on a kid's future. Promote computers, science and technology... not pool halls. No matter gow many tiny scholarships they hand out, a kid can do 10000x better if they reinvest that samr time into studying rather than drawing their rock.
Sorry... it's all baloney talk.

Clint, I think that Mark Cantrill, in an effort to come up with an exhibition for Str8 Shots, may have read a thread about Danny and John on this forum somewhere in the past. He creates pool happenings.
He created a thread on this forum, as he has in the past about other pool projects he is working on, to see if there was any interest. After he saw that, yes, indeed, there was interest, he then sought to speak to the players to see if they would do it.
What happened after that has turned into a pissing contest, since Str8 Shots decided to not be involved in this type of pool exhibition.
I'd buy the stream.
JCIN, you got the goods, like you say they will not be around very long.
What is going on here anyway with str8, are they trying to put any and all pro players under their wing , so they can controll what and where they play their next matches?
I wish Pool would go back to the way it used to be, players went in pool halls looking for action and then playing in what ever tournaments they seen fit for them.
Not for some fly by nite companys to come along and give them a little promise and hope for the future by telling them what they can do and what not they can do!

again, if they didn't have an idea of the landscape of the most widely viewed pool forum and media outlet in the entire industry and world, then they should not have taken the stance they did without doing some research. This is precisely why I believe there may be more than meets the eye because I simply fail to believe that everyone in the company can be this ignorant on so many critical business issues.
Well, it will either be a utopia or a catastrophe to come up with a survival strategy for this thread.
I certainly wouldn't want to step into a forum filled with insults and ridicule if I were them. It is quite sad that it's come to this.
Most new industry entrants are welcome in a starved industry, but not pool. Nope. Let's shoot 'em down before they get going and let them know what a POS they are.

Who wants their son or daughter running from one spot to another chasing money around with no future at all ahead of them!
Pool is a great game to gamble at, weather you are playing someone a set for money or playing against 200 others in a tournament!

I think it's more about teaching young folk good sportsmanship in sports.
BTW, Nick Varner is a pool player, and he is also a college graduate. Looks like pool didn't hurt him any! :grin-square:
that's not the case at all. The OP alienated the majority of folks here before they even had a chance to peruse their business. That's why I'm saying it was extremely dumb to take that stance. Do a little research and learn how to conduct a business that suits your target audience BEFORE you make posts in the biggest billiard forum in the world.
If you were selling chicken nuggets would you go on a chicken nugget forum and tell everyone that the you won't be selling the kind of chicken nuggets that a majority of them like?
