NO Match for Harriman/Schmidt

I am not lambasting anyone either, Jennie. Why are you using all of this negative imagery such as "lambasting", images of lions eating prey, and "attacking" for a large group of people who are voicing their disagreement with her decision?

Because she's the forum drama queen busily typing away @ 150 wpm so she can meet her 50 posts a day quota.

OK its all about the kids.

Here's a chance to teach our kids that in life sometimes you will encounter difficult situations, difficult people, and there are effective and classy ways to deal with those situations, and some that don't work so well.

Why is Str8shots not sending their sponsored player into this fray with the knowledge that he will conduct himself in a way they can be proud of? Because they don't trust him to do so.

So, an excellent chance for our youth to learn squandered. Instead what we will do is help our kids believe there is no conflict in the world, no tough situations to deal with. We'll cancel the event.

Less pool is good for pool.

She was nice enough to leave her phone number for anyone to call who had questions about the organization. When time allows, if these are burning questions that you want to have answered, maybe you can give her a ring and find out more.

I'm not sure whether she's a charitable organization or a for-profit business has anything to do with her stance on the John v. Danny match, but maybe if she can satisfy your curiosity about her company's legal business standing, that will take care of one concern.

Lollerskates at all of this.

The website is horrible though. Fact.
I can get our developer to look at though. I'm not the worlds best as far as web development but I can tell you it's way too busy to be effective in SEO.

I'm a scientist which means I'm antisocial which means phone calls are scary and I avoid them.:D

Man, I'm working on a conference now full of scientists about aseptic mumbo jumbo, blah, blah, blah.

One thing about it, John and Danny can laugh themselves all the way to the bank while we debate the pros and cons of them playing, and they never had to hit a ball. :p

Kimberly, are you an attorney? Eight paragraphs of pure lawyer-ese double-speak! Far from clearing things up, you only served to muddy the waters that much more. After reading all this I have no idea where you or str8-shots stand regarding this potential match. All this stuff about Mark and TAR makes no sense at all! Maybe Justin will chime in and interpret for us. For a company with a name like str8-shots you have a real problem with str8 English!

I agree with this completely. The only message that came through was her arrogance.

sorry, i've been singing & holding homage....

if you have need to CHANGE a contract, you can AMEND it, to suit new needs. and in order to do so, you either STRIKE said CLAUSE & both parties initial.
OR.
you ADD a NEW CLAUSE/AMENDMENT & both parties initial.
then it's legally binding & no BREECH.

PS - JAM, i caught that Scrabble faux-pas. don't tell Spider!

I cant picture her making any ammendments.

First let me say that THIS POST IS NOT ON THE BEHALF OFSTR8-SHOTS. This is my personal take on this whole situation.

Well, its been hard to sit back and watch this thing go down. My opinion is that there has been a REALLY BIG misunderstanding on a few levels.
I personally have always got along with Justin/TAR/CSI and we have in the past worked together to schedule events so as not to compete or make players unavailable when the other wanted to set something up. Not that I have ever been a competitor of TAR but having 2 events at the same time does nobody any good. I'm sure that you see what I am talking about.
I started a thread asking about Danny with the intention of possibly putting together a PPV match. My opinion was that TAR/Justin had NO interest in working on this again after what had gone down the last time they tried an statements that were made.
Well one thing led to another and before I knew it I had spoke to both players and I tried to make contact with Justin to just see what his thoughts were on it. I am aware that Justin has a life outside of TAR and I'm sure he was busy and I got no response. From that point I left it alone thinking at some point Justin would call me if he felt like he should or needed to an it left my mind completely.

To answer the question Did anyone know that there were any ill feelings between the two players (Danny and John) The simple answer is of course I knew about the ill will but after talking to both Danny and John I guess I didn't really know the extent of the ill will and the impact it could have and what could potentially go down.
I spoke with str8-shots honchos and told them about the match I was working on and that it wasn't going to be friendly and we would need to do all we could to control the situation. Str8-shots were not aware of rivalry being so heated and had concerns about the Jr Players that are involved with str8-shots also wanting to see a team mate play and then seeing a meltdown. Please remember that they work to instill sportsmanship and integrity into these young players and if anything happened it just would go against what the are trying to get across.
A quick response to Kvnbrw I think. I know what you are trying to do with your statements that I don't trust John.to behave. However let me just put it to you like this because you obviously can't see anything but one side. There would be two players in the room and even if John Behaves as agreed and we trust that to happen and he acts like the pope that does not stop Danny doing something (Not saying he would this is just a scenario) So if Danny punches John (Who is behaving) in the mouth John just like many would probably react. Now we have a fight on our hands no matter who is to blame. Meanwhile the kids that Str8-shot are sponsoring have tuned in to watch a team mate play and this is what they see. After all the advice and encouragement to be a sportsman and honor with integrity the Pro is in a fight. I'm sure that you can see how that would look.

Moving right along, the next thing is that I saw was the open invite to John and Danny from TAR. I was a little confused since I had began working on a match that I didn't think TAR wanted and then they go over the top of me without a call back to talk about it. I know that TAR started the rivalry and that was the reason I tried to call in them in first place out of respect. Mean while things went along faster than planned and wires got crossed and here we are.

I have to say that I am a little disappointed in some of the people on here who were willing to make such nasty, hurtful and just plain mean and rude remarks about Kimberly and Str8-shots. I am not saying this because I work for them, I am saying this because they are good people and do more for pool in general than at least 99% of the people who have been knocking them. Seriously do for pool what the do and the Jr programs, the troops overseas and the BEF and then maybe you have right to bash them if you don't like their stance on anything. Until them I think that those who are not doing what they are should show a little greatfulness and respect.

I know this whole thing has not gone the way of popular opinion on here at least and again, mainly down to miscommunications, crossed wires and misunderstandings. NOBODY was trying to take anything away from TAR and I hope after all this that everyone can still be friends around here and I guess lets see what happens next. These are my personal thoughts and nobody elses. Not sure if this has answered any questions but at least you have my input. I have been around here a few years now and I have had a few problems here and here but not too many and so I hope that you guys know that I do all I can for the benefit of the pool world and fans in general. Oh before anyone says it, yeah I make money on it too, not much but it keeps me alive.

Thanks for listening,
Mark Cantrill

This is what Danny had to say in the other thread.

"Thank you John for your apology, I will still look forward to playing you in 2014 as I have been told you will be able to do so. Of course the true all - around format would involve Bank Pool. I don't apologize unless I truly mean it - still workin' on that Mr. 400 and Mr Ar-15 aka Justin."

Sounds to me like the plans are set.

Lol @ we have decided not to do this match.

Well, we were wondering what happened to you. Thought you might have got ate by a goat and s--t off a cliff. (Joking).

Thanks for posting your thoughts. As to Kimberly, I expressed an opinion that her posts were a bit rambling, and seemed to have an air of arrogance. Just my opinion. C'est La Vie.

Mark,

I don't really think there were any "miscommunications, crossed-wires, or misunderstandings"... It seems very clear cut.

Str8-shots started throwing its weight around and put its colelctive foot down saying this match would not be held, without consulting the pool fans. A arrogant move, to do so, without even asking the fans what they felt.

And, you are following up the arrogance by saying we should be "greatful".

Want a shovel, sir, to dig a little deeper?

Russ

It's funny because as I read through this thread I would have taken the goat thing at one point :)

I'm not sure you see what I'm trying to do at all, but it it can't possibly matter (unless you have reached into your own mind and come up with something as outlandish as the punch you are protecting John from).

In the matches John and Danny have played, has either player ever punched the other?
If you are merely "dramatizing to make a point" why not say you guys stopped the match because you felt one would bring a nuclear weapon?

Thanks

Kevin

Greatfull Russ for what they do in general for pool. To be honest, my opinion is that you are just really out for blood at this point. Not everyone around here asks permission for the AZ community to make decisions. I am sure you are aware. I am not going t get into it with you buddy on this, I am going to leave it at that. I am sure you are making your own assumptions and there is nothing I can do for you there. I don't think we have ever had much of a disagreement in the past and so I must respect your opinion on some things. So hopefully you can try to see a little more positive in this even if sometimes we don't get things the way we want.

after reading kims posts i kinda thought it went down like this mark, thanks for clarifying it. there have been some people on here tearing her an str8shots apart like a pack of hungry wolves on a piece of meat.

hope your post settles some of them down .

From my recollection of watching both events, the worst thing that happened was a heated argument over a jump cue in the one pocket of the second match. Danny stayed in his seat and John was at the table. After the argument, play continued and no fisticuffs ensued.

All this drama over two guys who don't like each other when nothing extracurricular has ever happened.
