The document of our pool related road trip across the U.S. updated daily

Confusing? How did Gene take your students? And how exactly are they "your" students if you have not taught them anything yet? This gives folks a choice, Gene or you. Basic competition in the American market place... what's not to like about that ??

I don't see a problem at all.... and some folks might choose both since Gene is more of an "alignment" guy with his "pefect aim" system, and you are more of the nuts and bolts guy. Acually, you could have worked together, and gave everyone a discount if they went to you both to get the "full package".

I have taken lessons from both Gene Albrecht and Lee Brett. They teach different things and a student would benefit from learning from both.

It's called.......... Competition . Hence America.... The land of opportunity
There's no assigned areas

I understand that, but if i was on the road like Gene is and someone was booked to teach there 2 months in advance and the Wednesday clinic students now gave there money to do lessons with someone else and now i done the lessons the week before, i'd expect the person to not be happy. I planned this whole trip in advance and booked the days there, missing Bonus ball due to this and also turning other areas down to now turn up and not know if i am doing the clinics and the challenge matches sine Gene has been given the same deal, would you be happy?

Players are now saying i can't afford both and don't want 2 lessons as they have just had some and want to work on what they been shown. He is doing 15 minute free quick fix then doing lessons afterwards. I don't teach a 15 minute quick fix remedy, or live on the road i am a professional instructor.

Maybe the room is partially at fault here. As said in prior statement , why couldn't you both do your thing and work together? Try calling Gene and work it out.

Yes he is, he wouldn't speak with the guy who set it all up and the Wednesday clinic who he had he apparently passed on to Gene and gave the same deal i had to Gene, also the challenge matches i was meant to do etc... and now won't talk to the guy who set up the 4 days i was teaching there.

I could of booked clinics in other areas or of done bonus ball, so this will cost me a lot of $$$ at such short notice. Remember i am not on the road sleeping in my van like Gene hustling from place to place with a quick fix remedy, i am a professional instructor who is booked in advance.

Nothing against you or Gene but i had clinics booked up for 4 days and now apparently Gene is taking my students from me. After me getting a call today and this is not good business at ALL. Complete disrespect working with the pool room i was planned to work in for 4 days, planned 2 months in advance.

So you think we actually tried to figure out where some other teacher plans to travel? We were here coincidentally as we were at the U.S. Open and our action dried up a week afterwards at Q Masters so we went to the next nearest non-smoking town same thing we always do we didnt know you were going to be here. Besides you do not teach what Gene teaches so therefore regardless what Gene teaches to someone you still have a potential client in the future. Actually no teacher teaches the same exact thing that Gene does so you are pretty safe. That said theres a good reason for us staying here at least until Nov 9th, I am trying to get Gene to play in the Pockets Qualifier for the East Coast 9 ball tour. Then once he wins the qualifier we will be headed to Midlothian VA for 1 month. If he does not win the qualifier we have no reason to stay in VA and we will head to NC instead. The Midlothian event is the last thing we have to look forward to this year. And then our focus will be on the DCC.

Gene does not and never has slept in his van, we buy motel stays for 1-2 weeks at a time.

I am really having a hard time getting a game. A lot of times when Gene is out giving a lesson at someones house I take off with the van and get myself something to eat. Then I go to a pool room and either just practice pool or I sit and watch other people who are gambling. No one ever asks me to play it seems. I have been starving for some action as of lately. The last time I got any action was at Q Masters and that night I won $600 that was well over a week ago and I play pool every single day. What's up with that?

You could go weeks with no action

I did not said you planned it deliberately, i know you are on the road. If Johnny Archer was in town a week after me and i took all the potential and planned students and the week after a lot now backed out of his planned trip, do you think he would be happy with me!!

The guy who set the clinics up in advance told me the room owner was now arranging all the same players i was meant to teach in the clinics, who now don't want to pay out twice.

And the room owner will no longer speak about it saying Gene is here now etc... of course this is going to impact on my work doing stuff the week before my planned trip, there are posters all over the place informing of this. Of course it will impact me with him giving 15 free perfect aim then doing paying lessons. I already have players now dropping out.

I sure hope you don't try to play Gene for money when you come, otherwise I will have to break out the popcorn.

Gene far to good for me!! What's he gonna spot me?? me and you can play some if you like???

IMO Lee get like half the money in advance when booking then when a scab comes along you wont be on a dry run. This way when people back out it will cost them. This way at least you will still have half a loaf.

The players should be able to really get In stroke with you both in town.
Show up and work with some players.... That's what Gene does, Gene won't be bitter
Take it with a smile Lee , you don't want to get a bad rap here over this.

Bad rap over a planned trip of 1000's of miles for the guy who set it up now telling me Gene is working with the room owner, and the people who was doing the Weds clinic now working with Gene.

Pete, the people who they had planned were going to pay the owner, now that has changed since Gene is there. It's not like i was in the area, this was all planned and i could of booked other places, i have nothing against Gene, and what he does.

Duh...getting a deposit up front is a no-brainer! I've been doing it for decades. If Lee doesn't do this, who owns that problem? I get deposits all the the time...especially if I don't know the person, or am traveling far to get to them. No time like the present to learn OJT, Lee! :D

Just my opinion, but Gene isn't "stealing" anybody. People choose who they want to work with, and when they want to work with them. I've had people cancel at the last minute too. Replace them with others...there are LOTS of poolplayers anywhere you go!

Scott i take deposits, and where did i say i Gene was stealing people? The guy who set it up was taking them and when he went to get the Weds clinic off the owner, the owner said Gene is hear and wouldn't speak with him and now apparently is doing the same deal with Gene and the room owner won't promote my clinics now is promoting Gene to the same players we had lined up.

I guess there is no respect in pool anymore.

Michael who set it up is planning on now not playing at this room anymore due to what has happened.

Hi there Lee,
I really don't have any competition. What i teach nobody really deep down teaches it.
As far as what i do, if I don't give the 15 minute mini lessons the players don't know what I teach or how important it is to know. In 15 minutes i could show you the same and you would say, WOW. I never saw that before or didn't even know that was happening with the eyes.

But of course I teach every aspect of the game and try to help the player that books a full paying lesson with many other parts of the game they are obviously having trouble with.

Teaching pool and helping players play better is not rocket science. I hear you do a great job and I told many of the players here that they are lucky to have you coming.
The more we do it the better we get at it. So we both have a big edge over other teachers in that aspect. If I only did one lesson a month I might have a problem remembering what to teach or how to teach it effectively.

At Break Away they have leagues 5 nights a week and the place is packed. Filling up about 20 tables with league players. That's at least 60 players for sure each night. Times 5 that is 300 players. Some of them do play on 2 nights so maybe it's only about 250.

If my 5 to 7 lessons here so far have kept the other 200 plus players from signing up with you that's kind of weird.

I hope you still come. Doing lessons in a pool hall is more than just putting up a flier or 2 and hoping that they sign up before you come. it's selling yourself and what you do after your here. And like myself I'm sure that's where you get many lessons from because i heard that you do a great job.

When I go to a pool hall and do a few lessons my lessons grow like a snowball as they are here at Break Away. My lessons sell themselves by other players talking about the amazing things that they learned.

The mini lessons should help you when you get here because I'm awakening their interest in seeing that they need to learn if they want to get better.

There are many players that can't afford a full lesson but do learn some valuable stuff with my mini lesson. I'm really glad that I can help them a little also. But the ones that do the full lesson really learn some good things.

What i do is not all about me but helping players everywhere I go play better. It's about helping the pool room by helping the players play better so they play more because they're playing better. The game is more fun.

I assure you that there are plenty of students here for sure and a good teacher could stay here for a month for sure.

Every player i teach is very lucky they learned what they learned from me and I'm sure it is the same for you.

I don't know how many players you sign up from a flier hanging in the room.

With my reputation in the pool world and the success I have with teaching players I have no trouble getting lessons. Maybe I should try putting up fliers myself before i go to a room. Maybe then i would get no sleep at all. 10 lessons a day.

We all can learn something from everyone.

If I'm still here I'll share a little bit of Perfect aim with you when you come. I'm not being a smart aleck , but it would help enhance what you already teach.

Good Luck with your work.

Gene..........

Lee...You're nowhere near VA yet. Just go a different direction. There are lots of poolrooms in the region. If you took deposits, then you've covered your nut for going there, and are free to go somewhere else. JMO

If your the only 1 who knows perfect aim
Then why are you not playing pool like Svb ?
I'm sure being 60 makes it hard to play at a high level
But I never hear anyone saying that when you were young that you were a top player
I'm not saying you can't play gene but to think you know something no one knows is dumb

1 man and no aiming system

There Gene, I cleaned it up for ya. You really need to learn to post without all the baloney and extra verbage (what that means is repeating the same stuff in every post). Good luck luck out there! :D

You really need to come with me sometime when I'm doing these lessons and see player after player after player talking about how much better they are seeing the shots.

You get there from repetition and that's fine for now.

But when you can only play for a few hours a week because of travel and lessons it's hard to keep your game up. Even harder when only half of the muscles in your shoulder are working right and it feels like you got punched there the next day after playing. But for me that's just the way it is for now. Trying to make it better.

Too bad you we'rnt around in the 80's and saw what I did on the road.

But in this pool world it's how you play now.

I respect the players that have been out there and done this or that.

I respect you as a player and like your game.

I don't know If i can ever get to where I want to be again with my game. The last car accident really did a number on me but that is the way it is.

Rhea saw me having a few siesures the other night.

But just like you not knowing at all what I teach, I really don't know what i don't know from my concussion.

Bottom line is you don't know what you can't remember or don't even know.

Just the way it is.
