So, Mr. Dechaine decides to run the hole under his nose a little at Jayson Shaw for beating him in a tourney again! Mr. Shaw returns with "let's play for 20k"! Race to 75! The question isn't really if mike will play, its a question of who will back him the 20k? We know he doesn't play with his own, which is fine, but who thinks mike can pull of the win? Also, what do you think the score would end up being? I'm thinking 75-50 Jayson!

I would like to see Jayson Shaw play again. Watching him in the quarter-finals of the recent U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship, there is no doubt that the man's game is strong, but he does lack self-control on his emotions, I think. You could see he was gettting rattled when he was benched; whereas, a more seasoned veteran player may not blink an eye when they're stuck.
Mike Dechaine is also a player who shows emotion when he's under the gun, though he has had some experience in the last few years that may have tempered him

So he gets mad when he goes to the one loss side then Mike knocks him out of the event, Mike returns the favor, runs to Facebook and says I made it thru to Sunday, just beat jayson Shaw again.

I think the rivalry is a good thing for pool. Sure beats watching 2 robots play who have no emotion.

First of all jayson threw the number of 20k cuz he knows it's slim 2 none that mike can get a backer for 20k secondly y not play for 5k ? In reality jayson knows he isn't as big of a favorite as everyone thinks he is. He's dogged it plenty of times like mike in crucial situations. If this went off it would be nice if TAR would PPV it. It has been a long time since TAR has done an actual "Action" match instead of a paid exhibition with the winner getting a little more then the loser but both people still getting paid. It would be awesome to see a real action match where the winner gets all the cash and the loser gets to take a bus home.

That was a different breed of pool player in a different era that did that. Unfortunately not one pool player on the planet that I know of will do that with their own money unless they are a heavy favorite. Not one does that on a coin flip. Once upon a time pool players did put their own money in the middle and were true gamblers. There is no gamble in getting staked or playing exhibitions.
Yes, and this was a time where the economy was doing better (relative to cost of living), and there was no such thing as a cell phone.
Players could bet their own because if they went bust, they got a "walking stick" and go prolly go 10 miles down the road and play in a $1/$2 9 ball ring game in almost any bar to pump back up.
Hell, even when I was playing in the mid-90's there were ring games in bars.. $5.00 8 ball, etc...
Nowadays, that kind of action is actually pretty hard to find..
It's a different world, my man.. The economic realities are such that players are gonna look for some safety net...
Or would you rather they actually become homeless with no prospects at a money game if they lose a match?
