Jeanette Lee: Ask me anything

A cute article came out on December issue of Indianapolis Monthly about "New Billiards Congress of America Hall of Famer" Jeanette Lee. :)

The Black Widow has enjoyed a year equal to her celebrity: a turn on South Korea’s Dancing with the Stars (she didn’t win) and two hall-of-fame inductions. The second, into the BCA, takes place this month in Las Vegas.

Q. What’s your cue worth?
A. I play with a Jacoby Custom Cue made by Dave Jacoby in Wisconsin. It’s worth about $3,500, made of ebony and ivory.

Q. Top tournaments pay the winner around $10,000. How many people can actually make a living from billiards?
A. No pool player is making a good living solely on tournament winnings. I make most of my living doing corporate events, endorsements, trick-shot shows, and motivational speaking.

Q. Where do you play in indy?
A. Two places. Brickyard Billiards, an all-ages, nonsmoking pool hall on West Washington Street, and John Wayne’s in Greenwood. Both have the best equipment, and a lot of really good players practice there.

Q. How did you hustle guys in pool halls to make money when you were 18?
A. The fact that I’m a woman is the hustle. I could be No. 1 in the world, and some local guy would think, “I can beat her.”

Q. Can you really walk into a bar and beat anyone there, playing left-handed?
A. Yes. My husband [pro billiards player George Breedlove] can beat almost anyone with one hand behind his back and the other not even leaning against the table.

I was interested after reading that article to learn how Jeanette did in the Korean Dancing With the Stars, which occurred in March 2013.

The only thing I could find was this video of Jeanette and her Korean dance partner. It's fun to watch ---> HERE

Well, I did find this Wiki article about Dancing with the Stars in Korea, Season 3, and it looks like Jeanette was the second one to be eliminated. :frown: HERE

She did the Salsa and the Waltz. :)

Here's the DWTS Promo with Jeanette.

Thanks for the video. It takes some steal ovaries to get up there in front of millions of people when you really can't dance that well. On the other hand she did pose just about nude in SI. Johnnyt

Jeanette is looking good.

Man, there's no way I could dance in those shoes. It would feel like rubber bands around my feet. Ouch! :embarrassed2:

Poor Jeanette did suffer with her back and got needles, heat, and electricity. She said she hated it, but it works. :)

Here she was asked to strike a pose with her partner. She looks great!

And he's not so bad himself. :grin-loving:

Here is Jeanette with the costume lady for the DWTS. The costume ladey told Jeanette that she would be the fattest woman on the show!

Jeanette is a size 2 and said she was "by FAR the fattest."

She is crazy for all that high profile stuff. She would have made much more "flying under the radar"...

It's funny to see size 2 and by FAR the fattest in the same sentence! :smile-us-down:

Thank You Jam, I had no idea she did this. I have always liked Jeanette, she is a class act.
Happy Holidays,
Ray

Thanks JAM! Jeannette signed an old BD cover for me (12/01), of her in black tights and a Santa hat in front of the Christmas tree, asking "naughty or nice?". She has a great smile! Merry Christmas!
:p

You're joking, right? I'm thinking so with the rolleyes emoticon.

Absolutely a joke, yes. Jeanette perhaps stands alone as a role model for how to have a viable career in pool and not resort to scuffling in order to eek by. If more players market themselves and the game like her, we may have s sport yet and not a parlor game...

Jeanette's exhibitions are also neat and promote spectator involvement at events. I "beat" her at one game of eight ball whilst at the DCC one year, I was there as a spectator. They were drawing names out of a hat or something in order to play exhibition games against her. I remember thinking that I would rather be shot than have to play her in front of even a modest crowd' as one of my lifelong weaknesses is terrible stage fright. Sure enough, my name got drawn. Long story short is that her easy going manner ended up putting me at ease and I made some shots that I still remember to this day and that the crowd and ms. Lee seemed to appreciate. Bottom line is that I still remember that experience before I have to do a presentation at work or something like that, reasoning that if I could find my stroke under what was for me pretty stressful circumstances then I'm good to go for anything.

In any event, my hat's off to you Ms. Lee.
