Let's Talk Chalk...

I hope that was sarcasm. You were a member since 2010, there is no way you could have missed the other 30 Chalk Threads LOL

How dare you disparage my natural god given talent to miss something , when it comes to missing the obvious I am a pro ( now that was sarcasm ) ;) but also painfully true :grin-square:

$27 for chalk.... you should get one of these gems too...

If I ever find myself in a situation that that I need that extra .243251mm of cue ball contact... I will then consider a $27 dollar piece of chalk... Right after I decide that I need to play better shape and quit gambling

Masters Chalk really sucks...

That's why it's in every bar, pool room, and just about everywhere a pool table can be found. It sucks so bad that I use it every time I play, just so I don't run out on everyone. MASTERS CHALK IS HOLDING ME BACK!

Just as a side note, Masters seems to get affected by humidity. I dont have as much of a problem in cooled rooms.

Thank God someone started this thread. It's hard to believe that this topic hasn't been covered before.

First Longoni does not make chalk, they label and market it. Tweeten makes the Blue Diamond for them on contract. Second go to world class tournaments and see what they players choose to use. You'll find the vast majority are playing with Master's.
The great thing Longoni did was the marketing and the little two cube box is perfect for a case. I asked Tweeten about the boxes at the trade show where they had some on display and they said it just cost too much to package that way.

I have two in my case

I do too, I got mine at the trade show from Tweeten. Where did you get yours? Seybert's doesn't list it as available. They are nice to have for your case.

Have you tried it? I am an old guy who is the first to call something a scam but this stuff is not. I have a system where I use the Kamui in combination with Predator. I use the Kaumi as sort of a treatment every second rack or so and I use the Predator just as I would use any piece of chalk.

I pretty much never miscue and have a level of confidence on any shot I didn't really have before. You can nip the cue ball or spin it with complete confidence. The biggest problem are people wanting to borrow it once they try it. The real sucker is the person who is so closed minded they deny themselves something without even knowing what it is.

Using the Kaumi as a tip treatment as I do one piece will last you a few years. I don't do it my way because I am trying to preserve the chalk, I am in the habit of chalking frequently and don't like waiting so many shots to chalk up. This has worked for me.

If you're going to spend the money you might as well just use the stuff as designed. Don't be so tight.

Funny story, kind of I guess. I have only been playing pool a little over 2 years. I found this forum and started reading it everyday. When I first saw someone post about a $27.00 cube of chalk I was left wondering what "a cube of chalk" was. I figured there was no way it could possibly be that much for 1 single piece, nobody on Gods green earth would pay that much for a little piece of chalk. I thought maybe a cube was 8 pieces, 2 wide, 2 deep and 2 tall, hence a "cube". Needless to say I was stunned to find out a cube was exactly that, 1 single cube of chalk, all for the low, low price of only $27.00.:grin-square:

If there's a comparison between Masters, in my opinion, Pooldawg's version of Masters covers thicker.

to ME master/triangle the STANDARDS which all over chalk strives to match. when i master the game enough to say that master's or triangle chalk caused me to miss that shot, i will embark down the path of searching for a better chalk. i am frankly not holding my breath.

A well shaped tip trumps any chalk available.

So, just being clear, the chalk that ABSOLUTELY SUCKS (masters) is made
by the same guys who make his exclusive favorite, Blue Diamond.
Is it possible they're the same chalk in a different wrapper? That'd be hilarious.

Most miscues are user error.

If there's a special flavor of chalk that can save you the 1% of the time it's not, I need scientific proof,
not "Well I've been using this and I never miscue and I really like it".
I can find someone saying that about any (EVERY) brand. So that's not proof of anything.
Opinions like that are about as helpful as telling me your favorite color is purple.

I can guarantee that I was the only person in our small city that bought a piece of Skamui chalk.

I have lots of Pre Flag, some Blue Diamond and unfortunately, just a couple of Russian Magic cubes left.

One thing that I am seeing is Predator chalk all over the place during any league night out.

I tested the Predator chalk and it seems a lot like Pre Flag. I wouldn't say it is as good as
Blue Diamond or Russian but it is fairly fine and you wouldn't have to chalk every shot if you didn't feel like it.

I will always stick (no pun intended) with the 3 that I mentioned but the Pred chalk is a great alternative to expensive Skam chalk.

If I didn't get lucky and find a Gross and a half of Pre Flag, I would have stuck with Blue Diamond exclusively.

Skamui... :clapping: :rotflmao1:

(in fencing) used as an acknowledgment of an effective hit by one's opponent.

Well, alot of people are saying the current and Pre Flag has no difference. I don't where its me or placebo but I feel Pre Flag actually covers thicker.

There are shots when the lower you can hit it the better. Regardless of the stroke, it's an advantage to be able to aim lower and wider in such situations, and good to know there is more margin for error.

Anyone who never miscues, is likely not going near the boundaries in CB control.

I think this post is right on the money. Set 7 balls around the side pocket and do the old nip draw drill. Big difference between Masters and Blue Diamond -- First time I did this I was really amazed.

Additionally, I notice a difference in the 'Hit' -- Blue Diamond provides a softer hit than Masters, and the adhesion to your tip is significantly better.
