How do you think that guys like Shane got to the level of insight that they have? ONE of the things that separates me and guys like Shane and CJ is that level of deep practice and experience.

You know why John Schmidt doesn't post here often or at all any more?

I like CJ posting here....I would love if Shane dropped in.
What JS brought to this forum wasn't exactly professionalism.

It's people like you Mark Andrews, who have zero respect for people that have made it to the top of their fields that keeps most of those people away from places like this. Guys like you seem to delight in trolling pros and frankly you have nothing to lose because in the end you're a nobody in pool while a pro can get a bad rep if he allows himself to blow up at a troll's instigating crap.

You know why John Schmidt doesn't post here often or at all any more? Because he found himself up at 4am responding to a troll who couldn't run 5 balls in a row with ten tries while his girlfriend was waiting in a nice cozy bed alone.

Wouldn't it be great if John popped in to answer straight pool questions? Nah, we don't want a world champion here if he can't fade the trolls.

That's pretty funny coming from you John Barton ,, just how many times have you been banned from this forum,, and have you been banned from besides this one ,, I have been banned from 1 and that was from arguing with you mister know it all ,, don't be confused pal I know exactly what it takes to be a pro player in any sport ,, I played several sports at near pro speed and it certainly was not from lack of practice and instruction that held me back I'm a serious grinder who practices relentlessly. ,, what were those 2 plug in sports you played in between watching the sports you couldn't play ,, oh that's right you could have played those 2
You just didn't have the practice time or the instruction or you could be pro at them also
You really should stick to making cases because you don't know squat about sports , stay inside your box and you will be ok

The thread here incase its slipped your narrow mind is about, should CJ be using the main forum for his infomercials well if your answer is yes which would not surprise me since you have done the same thing in the past ,, then you can expect their would be people who question the intentions and validity of the subject as its looks like snake oil salesmanship

I concur with John. I enjoy reading CJ's posts a lot. He is actually the reason why I started study how to play pool, vs continuing random occasional ball banging. He is not only someone who has a lot of experience and knows what he is talking about but also someone who wants to make a change for a better pool.

Well I haven't seen it. I have seen him answering from HIS PERSPECTIVE as a champion, usually with a story to illustrate the point, some pictures or a link to a video. Sometimes those answers are not what the "gurus" on AZB want to hear, what they believe but they are CJ's answers nonetheless.

Pros hate AZ because they don’t understand what this place is about. It is a:

forum |ˈfôrəm|
noun (pl. forums)
1 a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged

That’s right -- it’s about give and take. But instead pros want every syllable they utter, no matter how inane, to be accepted as gospel and without discussion, much less question.

Of course you also have those pros, just like many other non-pro posters, who just don’t have the temperament for this place and lose it when everyone doesn’t take firm hold of their nuts. It’s not enough that they’ll collect a few huggers, they want *everyone* to grab on and any poor soul who does not is labeled a ”hater.” Disagree with a pro and you are “bashing” them. Then the hand-wringers come out and fret about “driving them away."

If pros can’t be part of the *forum* then they should stick to Facebook.

You were banned I believe for making overly racist remarks about my staff. And yes it was while you were trolling (not arguing with) me.

Yes of course observing champions doing their thing and reading about them, watching biopics on ESPN about them tells you everything you need to know about actually BEING a champion......(sarcasm) You obviously absorb their perspective right through the tv screen.

The only thing Mark, is that this

""My name is Mark I'm from Chesapeake Beach Md. I'm 53 3 kids including a 11 yr old so i don't play much when I do I play B level with the occasional A gear ,cashed a few times in regional tours ,a couple times at the SBE and last yr our APA masters team cashed in Vegas
Next to pool time on or near the water is where I like to be I got a couple if boats and do some surf fishing when I can OBX in the fall
When I'm not doing any of those things I'm working as a postal general contractor superintendent earning money to do those things"

doesn't make you a pro or anywhere close to a pro or even close to someone who is two balls worse than a pro. It makes you a super NOBODY in pool like I am and like the majority of people on AZB are. In fact the vast majority of people on the planet who play pool are super nobodies like you and me. Only a teeny tiny handful of living human beings play at world class speed and are recognized as professional players.

The rest of us are far away from that. Now I know from personal experience that running five racks once every couple years is enough of a high to make one THINK that they are closer to pro speed than they are. But the truth is Mark Andrews, postal contractor, you are very very very far away from pro speed and because you are you literally have no personal idea how pool looks like through a pro's eyes unless they TELL YOU. And if they tell you then you can only repeat it because you will never experience it.

When they tell you then MAYBE you can use that information to become a better player yourself but even then you would still be very far away from them in skill. But getting that information is still better than never having access to it.

So once again, my vote is that if the price of pro advice is to let them do informercial threads then it's a small price price to pay. In fact it's completely FREE because you can put them on ignore or you can scroll past their threads. I scroll right past Kamui chalk threads now because I had my fill of that discussion.

And forgive me for saying I don't believe you but I don't believe you ever played any sport at near pro speed. Even if you did you still weren't a pro in any of them and in pool you are very very far away from being a pro. I am fairly sure you aren't even as good as I am but you could possibly be.

The overarching point though is that just about everyone benefits from pro instruction including aspiring pros. I talk to pros a lot and one thing they always talk about is who they learned from, who they pestered for advice, who turned them into pros. So it follows that when they are here to offer advice it's infinitely better than if they are not here.

It's not supposed to be about attacking and defaming which is what you and folks like you use it for sometimes.

You're labeled a hater and a troll when you hate and troll. It's that simple. There are many posters who can disagree with a pro without putting them down. Then there are those who seem to delight in putting them down.

You're a good example. You love to tell the stories about playing this pro or that pro and how you are pals but then on the forum you denigrate them as a group, as you have just done again, and if some pro happens to disagree with you on the forum you denigrate them directly.

So basically you are exactly like most online bullies, peaceful and nice in person and a bully online.

My recollection is that I've had a problem with one pro because I politely opined that balls shouldn't be polished, nor the CB picked up by the shooter, during a high run attempt. He used that disagreement to go off on me at a tournament and make physically threats and use racial slurs.

And saying pros don't get the concept of a forum is not denigrating or defaming them, it's just the truth.

They get the concept. They also understand that some online venues are better than others for them to be interacting on.

I just can't imagine that a polite disagreement would cause anyone to go off on you. You have always been so polite. The way you called Stan Shuffett a con-artist was amazingly polite.

I would be highly surprised if Stan took any offense to the cordial way you called him a thief on this forum.

As for the pros I agree that they shouldn't have any reason to be upset at the polite way you have called them broke losers.

I played 2 yrs semi pro football. industrial league baseball , junior c hockey and carried a 4 hcp if you think you get to any of those sitting on the couch your sadly mistaken

As for my pool game I quit when I got married for over 10 yrs however I live in a very rich pool area ,, I have known several very good and pro players some of them very well that would include Brandon Shuff , Mike Davis , Brett Stodelmyer Rob Saez , Danny Green Matt Krah Shaun Wilki Ryan McCreesh Kieth McCreedy. Brian Deskra his Dad Ed ,,Tom Wirth and Jerry Slivka to name a few all on this list I have played at least once most of them several times Matt's the only one I beat came real close at beating a hand full of others I have roomed with Ryan putting him in several Tourneys including the SBE witch he finish 4th or 5th a couple of yrs ago
I gamble cheap sets with Brett once in a blue moon taking a couple of games on the wire
I have watched Brandon Matt and Shaun and even Danny G from when they where youngsters till where they are now so your very confused if you think I know nothing on what they put in

The difference between us nobody's as you put it is I believe it takes a little more than just practice and hard work
I knew Brandon Matt and Shaun were going to be pro speed players because they where gifted
They were beating grow men with 100 times more practice and playing
Some people have it some dont that's something you don't believe but I have seen it over and over again

As for AZ its not a pro forum there is a ask the pro section if you need to know something
Me personally I don't seek anything from other players or teachers I found there is to many different opinions I prefer to work things out on my own
As for my speed with you I'm not traveling the world with pockets full of money getting lessons to improve my game so I don't get stuck with my foot in my mouth so I would hope your a ball or 2 better since I have not picked up a cue in quite a while

And yet, you are not a pro. Nor close to pro speed. I think you know next to nothing OR you simply don't respect or understand what goes into it.

You don't have the same perspective as the people you mentioned. You can't understand a person's view until you stand beside them having done what they have done.

I don't understand football and you don't understand diving. I know that I stood up on a 1ft platform looking down at a 9ft pool that was 18ft across and how it feels to jump off that and land safely after two flips and one twist. You know how it feels to deal with huge guys trying to crush you, I guess. Neither of us knows what it's like to stare down a shot to continue in the world championships for $100,000. Although I would guess that I am closer than you based on my gambling in pool over the past 25 years.

In any event nothing you have done in pool gives you the right to be disrespectful to a pro.

Not all of them get the concept. Some of them, like the subject of this thread, lack the self awareness to realize they're doing themselves more harm than good here.

And your concern about how polite I am, or can or should be, is pretty funny coming from a guy who sent me an email that read, and I quote, "F**k you, you f**king f**k."

As to Stan, how did I know you'd go there. Everyone knows I think a lot of aiming systems are bogus. But what I specifically said about Stan's DVD and which I presume you're alluding to, again, is the part where you've take what I originally said and twist it into something else. What I said was:

"Which brings me to this: overall, there is a part of me that wants to say that, perhaps, there is some (much) key info kept purposely fuzzy, because there is *no way* you could put this out in the marketplace and expect people -- that had no prior knowledge and understanding of the system -- to succeed. If you want “to believe” after watching this DVD you are almost compelled to contact Stan, because IMO, it certainly does not stand alone as advertised."

I also went on to say:

"One last thing: I have no doubt that Stan really and truly believes in what he’s teaching. IOW, I do believe his work on these systems is a sincere effort to further pool knowledge and help the players watching it. But, I think he’s gone too far down the aiming system Rabbit Hole and perhaps can no longer see that his systems are highly inexact, or at least presented in an inexact manner on the DVD, and for many a dead end, or worse, a problem inducing course of endeavor."

IOW, I did not call him a con man or thief -- I said he's too close to his work and the DVD does not stand alone as advertised. Many, many guys agreed with that assessment, some even wanting their money back. Me? I just sold mine.

Lastly, if you don't know the term "broke losers" fits some of the guys out there to a T then you're living in a fantasy land.

IF I sent you such an email, which I don't admit to, then I can't imagine how a guy as "polite" as you are would ever get such an email from anyone.

However I dispute that I sent you the email you claim, which would make you a liar if I didn't and simply completely out of context if I did.

This is the last email interaction between us prior to matching up now.

You can post the rest of it and let the readers judge for themselves Lou. The fact is that for some reason other people aren't getting your level of "polite" discourse.

I mean in my case I know I have been an asshole and admit to it. I can be a mean writer for sure and it's really not how I am in person most of the time. Guys like you though will NEVER EVER EVER admit to being a dick in any way. You seem to feel that because it's a "forum" that you have open license to defame and denigrate as you wish to.

As for CJ doing more harm than good I guess that's your opinion now isn't it?

Seems to me that some of us like him and I would guess he has sold a fair amount of his videos without any complaints that I have seen.

Gosh what a terrible guy, ruining his life by actively promoting pool and himself on a pool forum. The horror.

At least you know better than call him a broke loser.

There are other Pro's that post on AZ Billiards that sell DVD's, Books, Cues and Cases. They do it in the For Sale section If at all and do not, however thinly disguised, on the Main Forum. For Example Ray Martin, John Schmidt, Jay Helffert, Jack Justis, Dan Janes and others. When these guys post it is relevant to pool...when you post it is all about you! Just my opinion but while your intentions may be genuine they do not come off that way.

Regards

Wedge

I understand your point, but you should PM him first and if that doesn't work talk to one of the admins. Going about it this way is unnecessary IMO

You continue to spew things about me you no nothing about If I had a dollar for every hour on a table after 10,000 hours of pool time I would have quite a change purse in my pocket
According to you the only thing that sets a banger apart from a pro is practice
I on the other hand know that's far from the truth ,, but you continue in fantasy land and tell when u reach Shane's speed let me know

Where have I been disrespectful talking to CJ I'm I not allowed to voice my opinion on what should be posted in the main forum
Nice touch on your infomercial by the way 2 peas in a pod

Hes just doing tit to piss those off who have a different opinion on what should and shouldn't be in the Main Forum.

Just think of how cluttered the Main Forum would be if everyone and their dog with an item for sale started a Thread in the Main.

The difference between JB and CJ is, that CJ isn't walking a tight rope with the Admins of the Site. JB could get turfed at any time.

I answer all pool questions and will continue to do so in 2014

Actually I have always been kind, gentle and forthcoming to anyone that wants to improve their pool game.......if there's any post that I haven't please post it now so I can see what I did wrong and have a chance to correct it right away......anyone?

I have responded to literally thousands of people on AZ and Face Book in the last 14 months answering anything from equipment preferences, to "road story" questions, to technical "pool instructional" questions.....I answer ALL of them to the best of my ability, not claiming that "I'm correct," just giving my honest, (usually experienced) opinion.

I will continue to do this in 2014 - if anyone has any questions my personal email is thegameistheteacher@gmail.com - it's not unusual to get a few hundred a week, so please be patient and I will respond asap.as long as they're pool related and sincere.

Thanks for Enjoying Pocket Billiards - 'The Game is my Teacher'

Perhaps you're right. I am sure CJ has responded to you in less than kind ways. Is that him "fading the heat"?

I agree that you have had far more interaction with him than I have. I also understand you dislike him intensely.

Has nothing to do with hero worship though. I have a specific point that I have repeated constantly. If you don't get it then it's you who has the blinders on.

I say that CJ's presence has been far more beneficial to the forum than not. Over the body of content he has provided has been entertaining and helpful to many. If the price for that is to see a few infomercial posts that can be EASILY scrolled past then so be it.

As for your personal beef with him....that's between you two and it takes two to fight as I have been reminded of quite often. I don't know if you ever tried to work it out by PM but I do that often and it keeps differences from erupting into flame wars on the open forum.

I suppose that if I were a good amateur player like you who felt the need to argue pool with a pro I would probably try to do it in private to see if we could reach a consensus first. That's just me though.

The Horror...the Change purse...the Pro Hugger calling out the other Huggers.

That's why I'm reading and chuckling. These threads are too much fun.

Wedge. Wedge....is anyone at home? Have you not read the numerous C.J. threads before? Fashioned similarly to yours these threads die and people forget for a month. Let me ask you this are you selling stuff on the For Sale area? Others say you are. Well good luck with your sales if that is the case.

It's quite revealing that so many here can be ID'd by their tone and verbiage. You are known.before I see your name. Maybe this isn't that difficult, but try to inject some originality for the readers.

To C.J. , thanks for clarifying your foe from '96. It seems that J.H. was incorrect in corroborating Hustle's faux pas. Regardless, when The Texas Tornado is on top of her game she doesn't miss. Still a worthy opponent!

Anyhow to my main point ... get used to the rules favoring the gentlemen and ladies. When a person is cordial and respectful it is often easier to get forgiveness instead of permission.

Thanks for the fun read.

P.S. J.B., don't kibbutz too much with L.F. or you might lose sight of the prize.
